Space Invaders!

After everyone and all of their ships were properly loaded the Quarter had launched successfully. The journey from Stacy to the Trojan Asteroid field trailing NiSaris took several hours, but they managed to approach the field with the people of the nearby world being none the wiser.

The problem was that the NiSarians weren't the only ones watching the skies.

As the Quarter approached and entered the asteroid field, all was quiet. But it was only going to be a matter of moments before that would change.

As soon as Sonic's Valkyrie had cleared the deck a third rose to the catapult. It's pilot checking rapidly through the pre-flight even as the engines roared to life. A whispered prayer to the Valkyrie's machine spirit.

"Skull-3, launching," Stating over the squad comm channel even as he hit the throttle and was catapulted forward into the black of space. Rapidly catching up with the other two and falling into formation. Break on contact with enemy, that he could work with. "orders acknowledged,"

"Don't try to be a hero, either," Michael amended. "Unless you have to be. I'd really rather four of us come home tonight."

"Skull-2, roger," Zouichi said, watching dispassionately through the canopy as the third fighter launched. He followed close behind, pushing forward to catch up with the others, the fighter's violet rear thrusters ablaze.

The canopy of the VF filled with bright, unfamiliar stars. He smiled slightly at Michael's addition. "Is that an order?"
