Library Time (Open)

For once, Ben hadn't deemed to go to the newly restocked Mr. Smoothie, or drive around. Nor was he beating on simulated monsters. Instead, he had been buried in a pile of books in the library, almost literally at times. He had purchased a lot of books and had been reading up on various things, including something that had been nagging at him for a while - Temporal Mechanics.

A lot of it was garbage from what he could tell, having experienced time travel in many forms. Discarding another book, he set it aside before picking up one and his eyes widened at the title. "Since when was this in here?"

The front of it read "Gemstones and Chrono Particles, a Dissertation of Time by P. Paradox."

Eagerly, Ben began to read it, pushing through the slightly bland material. Finally, after several hours, he set it down, rubbing his eyes. "It makes sense," he said, leaning back in his chair. "Now I get why Professor Paradox is so intent on protecting me."

The chapter he had opened to, was entitled "Cross-Time and You", and there was a symbol of the Omnitrix on it, or rather the Plumbers symbol on it. He chuckled ironically as he leaned back in the pile of books, trying to figure out how to deal with the knowledge that there were other timelines just as real as his own, with many Ben's sharing his face.

"Well, you are here, and so that is something, yes? Where there is life, there is hope." Erzebet had liked saying that, and May had noted that her father had picked up the saying as well.

Maydril felt it had meaning here.

"And I do not sit and read all the time, but it is relaxing after a long day of running and push-ups and sword drills."

"Your guess is as good as mine. I know the Outsiders were supposed to be planning something fun, but I think it got turned into training time as well," Maydril said.

"Did you have something in mind?"

"That IS low, for you. We should try to think of something. Perhaps more along your ideas of fun than mine," May said.

"It is always warm in the ship. Maybe swimming?" That was always something she had liked. "Though I suppose I will have to find a swimsuit."

"Well, this is why, no age candies. And either we could do that, or we could go down to that river in the City and swim there, yes? There is no reason not to do so?"

"Well, then that works for me--it is not much like summer in the City, this is true, and so I agree."

Maydril thought a bit, then. "Perhaps some snacks too? Without mischief? I miss lemonade very much," she admitted.

"I do not like driving them," Maydril protested. "And they are noisy things--most likely not something I would ever use, back home."

She sighed.

"I miss my horse."

A shake of her head, and she continued. "So, very well, do we simply go do, or do we invite others? I am certain that we are not the only ones bored stiff around here."

"I think that would be excellent," May said. "Besides, not everyone can be busy, correct?"

She chuckled a little. "You should try riding a horse some time. And conversely I will let you try to teach me to drive. I imagine horses might be easier. Maybe. I am more familiar with them, so I admit I am biased."

"For which of us?" May asked with a grin.

"In any case I had best go find Reinforce and see if we have swimsuit material. If not it may get interesting." She chuckled softly, and got to her feet, leaving the book she'd been reading on the arm of her chair.

"I shall see you soon then, brother. And if you need anything, do not hesitate to call me!"
