She's Alive [Open]
Anyone wandering into the media library this morning would find a somewhat unfamiliar looking young woman (about eighteen, possibly nineteen) sitting in front of the equipment, head tilted back and eyes closed as she listened to some good, old-fashioned rock and roll. She looks fit, in excellent physical condition and seems cheerful enough. She has one leg folded over the opposite knee, toe tapping as she keeps time with the music. Yeah, she's discovered just how awesome music from twentieth century Earth is and she's enjoying it.
Give her a minute and she'll probably notice whoever wanders in after her.

She waves a handi n the general direction of the machinery.
"More like I'm just relaxing."
no subject
"Sorry, I thought you might be a fellow refugee from Earth." He pauses for a moment to listen to the music she's chosen. He doesn't recognize this song; sadly, only some of them made it to 3005 A.D. without being buried by time, but he certainly recognizes the style. "I come here fairly often, but I don't think we've ever met. Kanoe Zouichi."
He extends a hand; he's not sure whether her world has handshakes, but it seems like a common enough custom aboard the ship.
no subject
Yeah, she doesn't really get the whole reverse name thing yet.
no subject
His handshake is firm, but it's obviously a gesture he's not entirely used to.
"Did you arrive here during the last pod release?"
no subject
A shrug.
"Yeah, pretty much. Mostly been getting used to this place."
no subject
He nods. "Have you tried joining a department? It might help if you're looking for something to do."
And take your mind of things. Like your world being destroyed.

"You're a soldier? In what army?"
no subject
"Lordaeron heavy infantry. Not the most glamorous, but I'm not a noble."
no subject
He didn't recognize the name, but she was clearly proud of her job. "Afraid I've never heard of Lordaeron, but apparently we'll be involved in plenty of fighting."
no subject
"I just want my family to be OK. And yeah. Same Howard. Kinda rough around the edges, but whatever."
no subject
Zouichi blinked. "There are an awful lot of pods on the ship. Maybe your family is in some of them."
Okay, yeah, at some point he had to talk to Howard about Karis. So far, Howard appeared to be living by his decision to leave his old life behind him, but...

She sighed and leaned forward, chin cupped in her hands.
"Where are you from, Zouichi?"
no subject
"A planet called Earth. I've run into a number of people from worlds with the same name, but none from my particular version." He shrugged. "It's probably fortunate; at the point when I was removed from the timeline, there were more zombified drones walking around than people."
Sliiiiight understatement there.
no subject
Because she didn't remember Draenei at all.
His description earned a sympathetic frown and a slow shake of the head, "Sorry to hear that. What the Hell happened?"
no subject
"Someone decided they wanted immortality," he said. "And along came a virus of unknown origin that offered to give it to them. But containment failed, and it became airborne. Very few humans were immune, but even those that were were subject to attacks by the drones.
...Which was why I was created, really."
no subject
His story, on the other hand, was rather tragic. Sounded like everything had decided to crap out at once.
"You trying to save the world?"
no subject
"Comparatively, Lordaeron sounds much more pleasant."
no subject
oh god, Karis D:
Where he'd come from, there wasn't much greenery left.
sob.
noooooo
He wasn't, of course; none of them were, but he sincerely hoped Karis would be able to return to the Lordaeron of her memory.
"I should be going. It was nice to meet you, Karis."
