Do you have what it takes? [OPEN]

PT finished at 0700, and the pilots and new recruits got a half hour to cool off before they got into the cockpits of their assorted craft. In the two hours since 0500 they ran several miles, did push-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups, and then a hundred jumping jacks to get the blood pumping. "You don't even want to think about how much force you put on your body when you're piloting," Trudy said at the start of the exercises. "Pilots need to be in peak condition to handle it."

Those who were used to doing the training five days out of the week would be out of breath but not exhausted. Anyone new, however, might have a little trouble getting their wind back.

"All right everyone, gather around. We have a few new recruits today, so we're not going to be running the Zokez scenario. I know you're all heartbroken." She kept a straight face, but that was a definite joke. She was sick of running the Zokez scenario. "We'll be doing some standard training exercises - maneuverability and gunning practice."

The track and exercise equipment melted away, and in its place the hangar of the Macross Quarter materialized with all its fighters and mobile suits. "Outside is a standard sim course. I'm going to have the recruits run it first to see how they handle and then the squadrons will go out as a unit. Recruits, let's put you in birds."

((OOC: This log is for anyone who signed up to fly a mobile suit, a VF or an X-wing and is not already in Starfighter Command. The flight sim is like something you'd see out of the training missions on Star Fox - fly through the rings, shoot the enemies, avoid the obstacles it throws at you like sheets of scrap and asteroids. EDIT: Subthreads for the squadrons are now up!))

He glances about briefly, then back to her. "I think I'd like to buy you a drink sometime, I hear these rumors Kang runs this place or something." Yeah, where they first met and all.
"I also think you run a pretty good regime here. Nice to see the jockeys being put through their paces too." he adds. "But I also think that, seeing as you're the boss lady and all here, I should be talking some business to go with the pleasure. I'm not a flier, but you've got some bigger craft here. My main background is commando ops - but I've worked with a ton of vehicle mounted, weapon systems, and support weaponry. If it aims and shoots, I can shoot the hell out of it - so, y'know, if anyone flies some of the big monsters in here, sooner or later I ought to meet 'em and figure out where I can help you flygirls and boys out in combat duty... cause it ain't like me to miss a fight if I can help it."

He eyes the monster... then eyes it some more, just sort of staring at those guns. "That... would be the sexiest godsdamned thing on this flight deck were it not for present company." he finally decides out loud.

"Hell yeah, I can shoot the hell out of that kind of weaponry. What kind of missiles? Seekers? Laser painting? Crosshairs? Any of your squads used to coordinating with fire support?"

Yes, he flirts. So far, she's seemed to cope with this. He also takes this war thing seriously, and knows a thing or two about missiles.

"Used to working in a... less formal work environment. Yeah, you got it. Looks like ya got them all plenty intimidated anyhow. You and any of your pilots're also welcome in my classes. Got a couple more small unit basics to get to, but a few weeks from now, we're going to start on escort missions... you know, like escrting downed pilots back to base. Might be handy to have some actual pilots, when the time comes."

"Ensign Soryu, huh? I dunno, it'd be kind'a fun to put my trainees through 'worst possible scenario' training. For the first bits though, yeah, probably best to stick with the folks that actually might want to be rescued. That, and aren't going to be insulted when I call 'em by the name we used for the escortees back home - Squishies. And hey, if you want to volunteer, or come by and watch, feel free. Totally open."
