Nima had had a long day.
Between finding out that her whole world had been destroyed, and that her entire people had been destroyed before that even happened, that she was now travelling through the stars (wonderful) and was expected to participate in a war (not so wonderful), she'd been reeling through some very intense emotions.
She was already finding her footing. She'd found her glider, the only item she had any real attachment to. She'd already made new friends, which was the most important thing a nomad could make on a journey, especially on one they didn't expect to take.
And in an extra stroke of fortune, the first friend she'd made had turned out to be delightfully accommodating when it came to stress relief.
She wasn't crazy about the contraceptive shots the ship had insisted she receive, but she'd been willing to compromise once Stacy explained about the danger of detached aiva and how easily the shots could be reversed. It was logical, and she was prepared to accept Stacy's rules so long as those rules didn't involve not going to bed with Chase, to enjoy something comforting and familiar and life-affirming in the face of all this discomfort and strangeness and destruction.
Nima released all the last of her tension in a contented sigh that sent the air in the small crew quarters spinning around in a soft breeze, and propped herself up on her elbow so that she could speak to Chase face-to-face again. The big man's chest made an excellent pillow, and Nima was looking forward to using it for just that again, but for the time, she had just about gotten her fill of human contact for the afternoon.
"You know what I feel like now? Exploring."
Wasn't there a whole city awaiting them?

"Alright, let me meditate for a little bit. I've got a couple tricks that ought to help with the exploring. I've seen some of what you can do with your... air-bending thing, that's what its called, right? Aside from the obvious, I've got a few magic tricks of my own."
