Research, it's fun. [open]
So. Daniel had been aboard the ship for a while now. He'd mostly kept to himself while he got a good idea of how things ran. Or at least, what was expected of the 'chosen.' He had finally gotten the barrings of the basics. Now it was time to do his own research.
He walked the various halls of Stacy. Stopping here and there to make notes in a portable recorder that was in his belongings. To the unobservant it appears he's talking to himself... which... well, frankly that's not that far from the truth. He's spent his entire academic career with no one listening.
"The construction is clearly... organic in origin. Meaning whoever built this was either a highly highly advanced human civilization that--that evolved outside of the influences of known technological influences. Or..." A heavy sigh as he rested a hand on one of the walls, "... a yet unknown alien race. Which... isn't all that comforting, either."
He paused his recording and looked thoughtful for a time. After a second he resumed, "From what I can gather none of the original crew remain. Nearly all trace of them has been... well... put under 'restricted access' by 'Stacy.'"
"Anyway, as near as I can tell this ship was designed for the relocation of an entire civilization... But if the original crew all died out. Well.. one can only assume this 'Stacy' started to improvise."

Oddly, he's wearing normal clothes, unlike the rest of the crew, jeans, sneakers, and a button down shirt.

That last note out of the way he finally turned to look at who was speaking, "Ah, I'm Daniel Jackson..." he holds out a hand.

"Jaime Reyes," Jaime says, shaking his hand. "Annnd you are definitely new, I'm guessing. I'd have noticed someone else that seems to talk to themselves as much as I seem to do it all the time."

Never mind that Sawyer was supposed to be wearing them himself."Oh, great," he scowled after listening to Daniel talking to himself. "As if things weren't crazy enough 'round here, Stacy's decided to empty out the cuckoo's nest."

"Just... Just think about it. This ship, whatever it is, it was designed for a purpose... probably not killing. I think that part's a malfunction," Daniel is on a bit on a roll here, "Anyway... figure that part out... its purpose and malfunction... we should be able gain enough control over this ship to get out of here."
no subject
"Oh yeah?" Sawyer replied. "And who ya plan on havin' fly this bucket of belly-fat anyway?"

"Really? Well, that's just brilliant," Sawyer dismissed with his heavy, biting sarcasm. "And then what? The nice, kidnapping ship is just gonna take us home? Right. Our luck she'll probably sell us off as slaves to Jabba the Hutt in exchange for a brand new pair of tires."

He then let out a sigh, "Though... I still have no idea where we are in the universe. That part is still a problem. We could be outside any known 'gate network."
no subject
"I take it you didn't get the memo," Sawyer replied. "Most of us aren't even from your universe. So getting us all to a planet with a Stargate to get us back to your ain't gonna do us a whole hell of a lot of good."

"Who the hell are you, Geek Boy?" he asked, staring--once again--at Daniel like her were crazy as a loon.

He stops jogging just as he reaches Daniel. "What are you up to Doctor Jackson?"
no subject
He wiggles the recorder, "...just taking notes. It helps me to think."

"Original purpose?" His tone was an inquisitive one. It was helpful to know that stuff so they could get more of an idea of how threatening this place was. It was good to know some people on this ship were focused.
