Podpop

[ooc: Newbie Helpers List | Instructions: Post your character with one post establishing them as being podpopped. Tag each other in groups of 2's, 3's, and 4's, to get some interaction to start with. If a thread doesn't already have 2 or 3 people tagged in, tag it with your character's podpop popping near the other people, rather than making a new subthread. If you would like to play out them talking to the AI, please send an email to the mods making the request--we do this only by request. Then move onto the big Newbie Meeting. Once your character has gotten the rundown from the old crew, you may start posting entrance posts and freely tagging.]

||Pod Release Protocols Initating|| Stacy's familiar voice sounds out to all the podmates through the ship.

In the Pod Caverns, there are the sounds of: Pop. Pop pop pop. Poppuhpoppoppop. KASCHUNKhiiiiiiiissssss.

There is condensation and mist spraying out from cracks in the pods, as the people inside slide out onto the floors, covered in slime.

--

There was nothing. You were going about your normal life, then there was a bright light, and then? Nothing.

Then the world lurches.

The chamber here is humid.

Actually, "chamber" isn't quite accurate. You're in a cavern, half-lit by an eerie greenish light, going on and on as far as the eye can see. The light is coming from what can only be described as pods, glistening, round greenish-yellow things, glowing with a pale inner light, outlining human -- and not quite human -- forms. Each is rooted to the floor, to the walls, with something black, twisted, and unidentifiable.

They line the walls of the cavern, go up in maddeningly high columns, curling and corkscrewing up into the darkness, until the light from them is like that of the stars, glowing pale and mournful in clusters in the darkness above. Twisted walkways and stairs crisscross, traverse the platforms in front of the pods, wending their way back and forth, up and down through the chamber.

You just came from one of those pods, broke free like a butterfly from a (slimy, nasty) chrysalis.

Now you stand alone but not quite alone, naked, not knowing how you got there, who took you, or why you were taken.

As your body heats up again, you realize the air is warm -- just a few degrees too warm to be comfortable -- and muggy; it smells acrid and organic, like freshly spilt blood and sweat. Your mouth tastes of salt.

The floors are pulsing under your feet, throbbing...

Wherever you are, this entire place...is alive.

Oh, and also you're naked and covered in alien snot.

When you call out, ask where you are, a voice speaks to you, in your head. She tells you:

||You are here.||

When you ask who she is, she tells you that her name is STA'C K'LTRRB'TXFT, but that you may call her Stacy. When she tells you who she is, there is a gush of emotion, love, maternal warmth. You are on a ship. She is that ship. Her name is Stacy and she loves you. Her voice is warm and motherly, even if these messages sound almost automated.

Glowing phosphorescent lights appear in pustules along the floor. They lead you up a massive spiraling walkway that gives you a view of what are possibly millions in stasis. At the top is a room with moving vines that clean you and clothe you in a plant-like body-suit--soft, but durable. After that, the lights lead you to a great cavernous room with a clear floor that lets you see all the holes and tunnels in the walls of it. When you reach the center, the last thing she tells you before whisking you away to gather your belongings and meet the rest of the crew is this reassuring thought:

||You have been Chosen to accomplish a Great Purpose. You have been Chosen to help fight the Ohm, a race of insectoid beings that are the destroyers of worlds.||

||You have been Chosen as champions of life, as protectors of the worlds and peoples that are left. The others are waiting for you. They will explain everything.||

She will tell you nothing more. Your answers lie with these "others" she speaks of.

"Oh, a princess, huh?" Midna leaned in a little closer, interested. "But this doesn't look like the Fire Nation, does it? Looks like you took a wrong turn."

"So, do princesses of the Fire Nation usually wander around without a jot to wear? Or is that a personal hobby?"

Re: :DDD

This creature was starting to get on her last nerve, and it was already frayed. "I haven't figured out what the meaning behind this hallucination." Her eyes began to twitch, darting around nervously like she expected to be attacked, fists balling up. "But if I should choose to who are you to question my motives imp?"

I'm sorry, Midna's such a troll

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
She put her chin in her hands, regarding Azula with bright, inquisitive eyes. "I did tell you to call me Midna, didn't I?"

That's one of her best features :D

[identity profile] burnedbrighter.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'll call you whatever I like." She snapped back taking a wild swipe at Midna, "This is MY illusion so either help me or get out!" She was hissing now, shaking. Once so in control of her emotions she couldn't even handle a little mocking anymore.

it's true!

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay, okay; calm down." Midna might be a little too fond of teasing, but there was no point in drawing this out. Besides, she felt a little sorry for Azula.

Just a little bit.

"Why not come with me, then? We can try and find something for you to wear, at least."

Re: it's true!

[identity profile] burnedbrighter.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Azula blew a soggy bang out of her eyes and her ragged breathing began to steady, "Fine. So long as it's not that straight jacket." She was referring to the world she had left behind. "I want my robe. And not one of those cheap peasant robes but MY robe." Even if she was being demanding for a crazy person at least she was co-operating.

Is it okay for Midna to remove a little of Azula's slime?

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Straight jacket? Never heard of it."

Midna couldn't help rolling her eyes a little at Azula's demands -- out of her line of sight, of course. "Okay, Princess, we'll try and find you your robe."

She floated by Azula's side. "Let's try and follow those lights, hmm? Maybe they lead somewhere."

Sexy~ I mean uh...go for it. :P

[identity profile] burnedbrighter.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Very well."

That made sense to Azula, but never the less she kept looking over her shoulder. Other people were still behind her and there were people ahead of them. Too many people. Any one of them could slip a knife between her ribs the moment she let her guard down.

So the only logical option of coarse was to be prepared to counter any attack that would dare come her way! Yes...yes she would not die this day. Not in this dream.

Not again.

Re: Sexy~ I mean uh...go for it. :P

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Midna noticed that Azula kept looking around, as if she were expecting to be ambushed at any minute.

"Hey, are you okay? You look kind of nervous. You don't have anyone after you, do you?"

She motioned ever so slightly in the air, and with an audible pop!, the slime covering Azula's face and the hair around it dissolved into black-and-green specks, leaving at least part of her clean -- she'd have gotten rid of it all, but she figured slime was better than wearing nothing at all. "That's a little better."

Re: Sexy~ I mean uh...go for it. :P

[identity profile] burnedbrighter.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Azula was about to answer when she suddenly had cleaner hair and face. This startled her enough that she took a sharp step back and glared at Midna bracing herself for an attack.

"An assassin could strike at any moment, even in my hallucinations I'm not safe." She snarled with a wild almost feral look in her eyes. "I may be overthrown but I'm still alive. And Zuzu knows that as long as I live he will never be safe!"

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"An assassin, huh?" For some reason, Midna had grown quiet. Well, quieter than she had been. "So what are, some kind of princess in exile?"

"I'm not trying to hurt you, you know. I just thought you might feel a little better without all that goop in your eyes."

[identity profile] burnedbrighter.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Exile." She scoffed, "That would be too easy. They have me locked away like a bad memory. The monster of their nightmares that they hope to never remember." She was getting worked up now, "This is just another bad dream brought along by the so called "Doctors" but I'll escape this and then escape them. The Fire Nations true ruler will rise again!" She had been getting progressively louder with her declarations and glaring wildly at any who dare to argue with her.

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, boy. So apparently she was now escorting a deposed ruler about the premises -- one that was apparently a little shy of completely in control of her mental faculties.

"...Yeah, I'm sure she will." Maybe she could find some kind of doctor in this joint, but all Midna could see right now were people in basically the same state of undress and afflicted with varying degrees of confusion. "So you've got some doctors on you, huh? Guess they don't let other people visit much."

[identity profile] burnedbrighter.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"And who would visit?" She continued ranting as if she'd never stopped, "The Brother and his filthy water tribe peasant who ruined my coronation? Or perhaps my fat traitorous uncle?" She was fuming now.

"Oh I know!" She began as she ripped her hands into fists again, "Perhaps my back stabbing so called friends!!!" swung a leg up high up over her own head in a display of flexibility and brought it down hard to the ground. An explosion of blue fire erupted in all directions causing some of the freshly popped to yelp and scramble for cover as she stood in the middle of the smoke and flame that was already dissipating.

"I have no one and nothing. Not even my father anymore." And as the smoke clear twin trails of tears could be seen shining on her face. She didn't even appear to be aware she was crying yet.

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Fuming seemed to be Azula's default mode of operation, really. Midna didn't flinch when Azula suddenly summoned that blaze of flame; she merely allowed herself to break apart into a series of shadowy bubbles before reforming safely once again.

She didn't know what Azula had done before ending up here, or whether she'd deserved whatever punishment she'd received, but seeing her cry like that kind of tugged at Midna's newly-acquired feelings of guilt.

Midna patted Azula awkwardly on the shoulder, not knowing what else to say or do. "Hey, it'll be okay. I'm, uh. Sure we'll find your robe."

[identity profile] burnedbrighter.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Robe?" Her voice cracked and she began to shake as the last of the fires died out. "Right...yes...the robe." Worn out from her little tantrum and still unaware of the tears on her face she nodded softly and shot one last nervous look over her shoulder.

Something horrible was going to happen to her in this dream. She could feel it coming.

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Must be some robe," Midna muttered quietly. Then, a little louder, "So, what's that you did just now, with the fire? Some kind of magic?"

It hadn't felt like magic to her, not really, but that wasn't the kind of thing normal humans were capable of.

[identity profile] burnedbrighter.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Magic?" That seemed to bring her back for a moment at least mentally, "That was firebending. A skill that only the best people have. And naturally I am one the best." That felt good. reminding herself that she was possibly the strongest firebender alive now that her father...

...best to stray from that train of thought and focus on fire. Yes beautiful fire. Even in her less then focused state of being she had enough instinct that she created a flame in her hand and held it for warmth. It burned a cold blue shade casting shadows on the area.

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
At least Azula was looking a little more together. Talking about firebending, good; talking about friends, bad. "Well, humor someone who isn't one of the best -- what's firebending, exactly?"

[identity profile] burnedbrighter.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Azula cocked an eyebrow inquisitively. If this creature was of her imagination it should know full well...

Fine. Might as well play the game.

"In the world there are special people, gifted with the ability to control the elements trough training and study. Fire is the greatest of these elements obviously and I have spent my life perfecting my skill in service to my father the Firelord."

That was possibly the most coherent stable thing she had said since arriving.

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Obviously." So Firebending wasn't magic. Somehow. Midna didn't really understand that part. But look at Azula, all coherent and not shouting!

"So, how long do you have to study before you can bend fire? Years, I guess? Do you start as a child?"

[identity profile] burnedbrighter.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, but I advanced faster then any others. Rightfully so." She smiled and her eyes unfocused again as she thought back to happier days. "A prodigy, the daughter of the Firelord, my skills grew so fast few teachers could keep up with me."

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, charming. Now she was bragging about herself. Midna suppressed a sigh, pretending to listen closely to Azula's speech about he skills and her prodigy status. These lights were going on forever.

"So I guess you went through a lot of them. Teachers, I mean. Must have been the good life."

[identity profile] burnedbrighter.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"The best." She sighed and then her voice sharply lowered, "Until Uncle and my brother ruined everything." And there was the dark angry eyes again. "Traitors, cowards."

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh yeah? What happened?"

Midna had the feeling that she was about to find out whether she asked or not.
