Podpop

[ooc: Newbie Helpers List | Instructions: Post your character with one post establishing them as being podpopped. Tag each other in groups of 2's, 3's, and 4's, to get some interaction to start with. If a thread doesn't already have 2 or 3 people tagged in, tag it with your character's podpop popping near the other people, rather than making a new subthread. If you would like to play out them talking to the AI, please send an email to the mods making the request--we do this only by request. Then move onto the big Newbie Meeting. Once your character has gotten the rundown from the old crew, you may start posting entrance posts and freely tagging.]

||Pod Release Protocols Initating|| Stacy's familiar voice sounds out to all the podmates through the ship.

In the Pod Caverns, there are the sounds of: Pop. Pop pop pop. Poppuhpoppoppop. KASCHUNKhiiiiiiiissssss.

There is condensation and mist spraying out from cracks in the pods, as the people inside slide out onto the floors, covered in slime.

--

There was nothing. You were going about your normal life, then there was a bright light, and then? Nothing.

Then the world lurches.

The chamber here is humid.

Actually, "chamber" isn't quite accurate. You're in a cavern, half-lit by an eerie greenish light, going on and on as far as the eye can see. The light is coming from what can only be described as pods, glistening, round greenish-yellow things, glowing with a pale inner light, outlining human -- and not quite human -- forms. Each is rooted to the floor, to the walls, with something black, twisted, and unidentifiable.

They line the walls of the cavern, go up in maddeningly high columns, curling and corkscrewing up into the darkness, until the light from them is like that of the stars, glowing pale and mournful in clusters in the darkness above. Twisted walkways and stairs crisscross, traverse the platforms in front of the pods, wending their way back and forth, up and down through the chamber.

You just came from one of those pods, broke free like a butterfly from a (slimy, nasty) chrysalis.

Now you stand alone but not quite alone, naked, not knowing how you got there, who took you, or why you were taken.

As your body heats up again, you realize the air is warm -- just a few degrees too warm to be comfortable -- and muggy; it smells acrid and organic, like freshly spilt blood and sweat. Your mouth tastes of salt.

The floors are pulsing under your feet, throbbing...

Wherever you are, this entire place...is alive.

Oh, and also you're naked and covered in alien snot.

When you call out, ask where you are, a voice speaks to you, in your head. She tells you:

||You are here.||

When you ask who she is, she tells you that her name is STA'C K'LTRRB'TXFT, but that you may call her Stacy. When she tells you who she is, there is a gush of emotion, love, maternal warmth. You are on a ship. She is that ship. Her name is Stacy and she loves you. Her voice is warm and motherly, even if these messages sound almost automated.

Glowing phosphorescent lights appear in pustules along the floor. They lead you up a massive spiraling walkway that gives you a view of what are possibly millions in stasis. At the top is a room with moving vines that clean you and clothe you in a plant-like body-suit--soft, but durable. After that, the lights lead you to a great cavernous room with a clear floor that lets you see all the holes and tunnels in the walls of it. When you reach the center, the last thing she tells you before whisking you away to gather your belongings and meet the rest of the crew is this reassuring thought:

||You have been Chosen to accomplish a Great Purpose. You have been Chosen to help fight the Ohm, a race of insectoid beings that are the destroyers of worlds.||

||You have been Chosen as champions of life, as protectors of the worlds and peoples that are left. The others are waiting for you. They will explain everything.||

She will tell you nothing more. Your answers lie with these "others" she speaks of.

SPOILER WARNING FOR MADOKA MAGICA AHOY

The first thing Mami Tomoe did upon waking up was scream.

She always had the air of a calm, controlled individual. Even before becoming a Puella Magi, it took a lot to ruffle her. But this... the last thing she saw, the last thing she felt before everything went dark and she woke up here was that monstrous clown's jaws closing around her, its teeth digging into her neck...

She didn't care that she was naked. She didn't care that she was covered in disgusting slime. She didn't even care that there was currently a voice speaking to her in her head. All that mattered right now was that, in the exact moment where she was finally at peace, when she was finally assured that she wouldn't have to be alone anymore... it was all torn away.

Lion-O turns his head towards the sound of the scream and quickly makes his way over to Mami.

"Is everything alright? Are you hurt?" He asks, concerned.

Well, screaming was definitely a way to get Sayaka's attention. She was quite a bit confused, to say the least. But waking up naked and covered in goop was enough to do that rather easily.

But the scream. Scream was different, scream meant trouble, and before Sayaka even knew what she was doing, she already had her Soul Gem out was about to transform when she realized a very important fact.

The person doing the scream was right next to her, naked and covered in goop as well, but that VOICE was

"... Mami-san?"

[identity profile] magicgunworks.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
That voice both snapped her out of the haze of confusion and fear, and made it worse. Oh, god... what had happened to her juniors after everything went dark? Were they able to escape? The thought that they were put in danger because she hadn't been there to protect them horrified her.

But... she was here. Sitting right next to her. She was still so in shock over everything that was happening that she couldn't really say anything, so forgive any lack of coherent response from your mentor, Sayaka.

"Miki-san..."

[identity profile] swordstabmagica.livejournal.com 2011-04-02 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
This was... this was near impossible. She had seen Mami die with her own eyes.

But Mami was standing right next to her, clear as day. She was alive. Sayaka wasn't sure exactly what she could do, but she wasn't about to just leave Mami-san like this.

But she couldn't think of what to say, so she didn't say anything.

[identity profile] magicgunworks.livejournal.com 2011-04-02 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
As Sayaka continued to sit there in stunned silence, Mami took a moment to look over her charge. Their nakedness still didn't register in her mind; she was too occupied with making sure the other girl wasn't hurt.

And that's when she noticed the glowing blue gem in the Sayaka's hand. A small smile crossed her face.

"I see you finally figured out what you should wish for."

That's it, steer the conversation in a different direction and hope what she's sure was her death isn't brought up...

[identity profile] swordstabmagica.livejournal.com 2011-04-02 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
Sayaka blinked, then nodded as she returned her gem to her ring form. "Yeah. Even with the risks... helping him was worth it." She shook her head. "I mean, even besides the whole wish thing, someone needed to fight against the witches with..."

... You gone. That was what she was about to say, before she realized something important. She should be wondering how Mami was even still alive, unless she was like her and healed really quickly...

... Or maybe her soul gem hadn't been destroyed yet, so her body was able to be rebuilt. "... although I guess everyone was wrong about that, weren't we?"

[identity profile] magicgunworks.livejournal.com 2011-04-02 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
But Mami's Soul Gem was in her hairpin, so Sayaka should know that theory is invalid. Perhaps it was for the better, though; if Mami was critically injured like that, it would get her wondering what else Kyuubey had been hiding from the Puella Magi, and if she found out about certain other things...

But that doesn't matter now.

"I suppose so. All this time we've been hunting witches, but it turns out there was an even greater threat we should have been prepared for..."

[identity profile] swordstabmagica.livejournal.com 2011-04-02 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Sayaka nodded at that. "So it sounds like it. Something Kyuubey probably didn't even know about..."
