Podpop

[ooc: Newbie Helpers List | Instructions: Post your character with one post establishing them as being podpopped. Tag each other in groups of 2's, 3's, and 4's, to get some interaction to start with. If a thread doesn't already have 2 or 3 people tagged in, tag it with your character's podpop popping near the other people, rather than making a new subthread. If you would like to play out them talking to the AI, please send an email to the mods making the request--we do this only by request. Then move onto the big Newbie Meeting. Once your character has gotten the rundown from the old crew, you may start posting entrance posts and freely tagging.]

||Pod Release Protocols Initating|| Stacy's familiar voice sounds out to all the podmates through the ship.

In the Pod Caverns, there are the sounds of: Pop. Pop pop pop. Poppuhpoppoppop. KASCHUNKhiiiiiiiissssss.

There is condensation and mist spraying out from cracks in the pods, as the people inside slide out onto the floors, covered in slime.

--

There was nothing. You were going about your normal life, then there was a bright light, and then? Nothing.

Then the world lurches.

The chamber here is humid.

Actually, "chamber" isn't quite accurate. You're in a cavern, half-lit by an eerie greenish light, going on and on as far as the eye can see. The light is coming from what can only be described as pods, glistening, round greenish-yellow things, glowing with a pale inner light, outlining human -- and not quite human -- forms. Each is rooted to the floor, to the walls, with something black, twisted, and unidentifiable.

They line the walls of the cavern, go up in maddeningly high columns, curling and corkscrewing up into the darkness, until the light from them is like that of the stars, glowing pale and mournful in clusters in the darkness above. Twisted walkways and stairs crisscross, traverse the platforms in front of the pods, wending their way back and forth, up and down through the chamber.

You just came from one of those pods, broke free like a butterfly from a (slimy, nasty) chrysalis.

Now you stand alone but not quite alone, naked, not knowing how you got there, who took you, or why you were taken.

As your body heats up again, you realize the air is warm -- just a few degrees too warm to be comfortable -- and muggy; it smells acrid and organic, like freshly spilt blood and sweat. Your mouth tastes of salt.

The floors are pulsing under your feet, throbbing...

Wherever you are, this entire place...is alive.

Oh, and also you're naked and covered in alien snot.

When you call out, ask where you are, a voice speaks to you, in your head. She tells you:

||You are here.||

When you ask who she is, she tells you that her name is STA'C K'LTRRB'TXFT, but that you may call her Stacy. When she tells you who she is, there is a gush of emotion, love, maternal warmth. You are on a ship. She is that ship. Her name is Stacy and she loves you. Her voice is warm and motherly, even if these messages sound almost automated.

Glowing phosphorescent lights appear in pustules along the floor. They lead you up a massive spiraling walkway that gives you a view of what are possibly millions in stasis. At the top is a room with moving vines that clean you and clothe you in a plant-like body-suit--soft, but durable. After that, the lights lead you to a great cavernous room with a clear floor that lets you see all the holes and tunnels in the walls of it. When you reach the center, the last thing she tells you before whisking you away to gather your belongings and meet the rest of the crew is this reassuring thought:

||You have been Chosen to accomplish a Great Purpose. You have been Chosen to help fight the Ohm, a race of insectoid beings that are the destroyers of worlds.||

||You have been Chosen as champions of life, as protectors of the worlds and peoples that are left. The others are waiting for you. They will explain everything.||

She will tell you nothing more. Your answers lie with these "others" she speaks of.

A large, naked feline humanoid emerges from the pod. He groans and rubs his head as he stands, his wavy red hair wet and plastered to his face and neck.

"Uhng, where am I?" He asks, and then he hears the voice. He takes a moment to process this information.

"Strange...normally, I think I would be in danger, and yet I feel so calm. Maybe I should just go along and see what happens." The cat man looks around at the others like him, seeing their disorientation and confusion.

"Hmm, I should see if I can help anyone, once I know how."

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"And what are you supposed to be?" Midna asks, from coming up from behind Lion-O. She recoils once she gets close enough to get a better look at him. "Ugh, and doesn't anyone around here wear clothes?"

Midna is also not wearing any clothes. Not that she ever does.

[identity profile] eye-of-blundera.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Lion-O looks down at Midna and raises an eyebrow.

"I am Lion-O, Lord of the ThunderCats, and a Thunderian, since you asked. And what are you? An imp of some sort?"

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ha. I guess you could say that. You can call me Midna."

She hovers a little closer to him, curious. "A Thunderian, huh? Never heard of them. So why are you here?"

[identity profile] eye-of-blundera.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"For the same reason you are, I think. I can't remember how I got here though. Last thing I remember was being in Cat's Lair, and now I'm here."

Lion-O crosses his arms thinks. "Did you happen to hear a voice in your head when you woke up? I think it, she, said were were here to fight something called the Ohm."

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, yeah, fight the Ohm, Chosen Ones, that whole deal. Not a very friendly Voice of the Gods, if that's what it was -- they could have at least waited until I finished the quest I was on before tossing me another."

[identity profile] eye-of-blundera.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"What sort of quest? Maybe once this is over I could lend you a hand. It would have been better if whoever brought us here had asked us first."

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"You know, defeat the evil invader from the Twilight, expel him from the realm of light, that sort of thing."

She looked at Lion-O a little skeptically. Another knight in shining armor type, huh? "I had a partner, actually -- but I don't see him here."

"And yeah, you'd think someone who wanted our help'd bother to ask us if we were interested first. So. What exactly is a Thunderian?"

[identity profile] eye-of-blundera.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Someone from the planet of Thundera, of course." Lion-O chuckles. "From the way other races have described us, you can say we're part human and part cat. I'd like to hear more about this evil Twilight invader later."

Lion-O looks around a moment. "I'd be happy to help you find your partner. I'll be looking for my friends, the ThunderCats. It would be easier if I had the Sword of Omens with me. I wonder if these people brought it here with me."

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hmph, well, if he shows up here, I'm sure you'll find out all about him."

"The ThunderCats? I guess they all basically look like you? Kinda like big cats." Midna looked thoughtful. "Does it have to be that specific sword? Or would any sword be okay?"

[identity profile] eye-of-blundera.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, more or less, yes, like big cats." He chuckles, then nods to Midna when she mentions the sword.

"It does. Only with the Sword of Omens and the Eye of Thundera can I use Sight Beyond Sight to find my friends."

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Huh. Sounds fancy."

Sounds like the ThunderCat version of the Master Sword, actually. "So are you some big hero back home or something?"

[identity profile] eye-of-blundera.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Lion-O can't help but laugh.

"Yes, something like that. The ThunderCats and I have sworn to protect the innocent and uphold the Code of Thundera; Truth Justice, Honor, and Loyalty. Besides that, I've had to fight off many evil beings, including Mumm-Ra. Ever heard of him?"

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It was like listening to the Light Spirit spiel all over again. But heck, if he was a defender of Truth and Justice or whatever, he couldn't be too bad. Probably.

"Nope, can't say I have. Who is he?"

[identity profile] eye-of-blundera.livejournal.com 2011-04-02 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
"He's an evil undead sorcerer who used to terrorize Third Earth, but the ThunderCats have always been able to defeat him. He keeps coming back though. I hope I don't find him here."

[identity profile] twilit-midna.livejournal.com 2011-04-02 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Well, look at that. They had more in common that Midna had thought. "Hmph, typical. So what's he after? Money? Power? Or does he just enjoy being a thorn in your side?"

[identity profile] eye-of-blundera.livejournal.com 2011-04-02 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Mostly power and being a thorn. Mumm-Ra wants to rule the world, and he did once before, until I put a stop to that. Since then he's just been trying to get rid of the ThunderCats any way he can." Lion-O sighs and rubs his temples.

"I've almost lost count of how many times I've come face to face with that dried husk and red beady eyes. Who was that Twilight invader you mentioned? Maybe I've heard of him."

[identity profile] a-bit-put-upon.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It's very odd to be comforted by the sight of someone clearly not human--though in retrospect, it might not be that in itself so much as the lack of panic when the being takes stock of its surroundings.

While he's concerned for the whereabouts of Peri, of course, the Doctor is thankful for these small things.

"I don't quite see that anyone is in immediate danger," he offers, holding up a hand in greeting from his stance nearby. "What might be of more concern, though, is how we got here, and probably how to find our way out. I'd say home, but I've got a feeling the empathic recording wasn't fibbing."

[identity profile] eye-of-blundera.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Lion-O greets the man with a smile and a wave back.

"No danger is always a good thing. I honestly can't remember how I wound up here. As for how to get out, we might start by following the lights on the floor."

Lion-O holds his hand out ti shake. "My name is Lion-O, Lord of the ThunderCats."

[identity profile] a-bit-put-upon.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, well, I've come to distrust the easy path in my time," he quips, flashing a rueful grin. The proffered hand is shaken heartily, and he nods toward Lion-O's abandoned pod with a curious glance.

"I'm the Doctor," he introduces, though half absently. "Did you have a look into your vessel as well? Any sort of hint as to how we might've been put here? I couldn't even find a console pad in mine... just the membrane supplying what I assume was our sustenance."

[identity profile] eye-of-blundera.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"I did have a look," Lion-O replies. "I've never seen this kind before, but I am familiar with suspension capsules, and these look a lot like one I was in before. How we got into these, I really don't know. My best guess is they used something to put us to sleep."

[identity profile] a-bit-put-upon.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Indeed. I was tending to a friend myself, and for a moment I thought the Cybermen..." He looks perplexed for a split second before shaking his head. "I don't remember a thing beyond that, except that I've awakened here. Perhaps the crew here have employed a transmat device of some kind as well, as there seem to be an awful lot of us to be shuttling back and forth manually."

[identity profile] eye-of-blundera.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"Perhaps," Lion-O nods to the Doctor. "I doubt anyone one of us here has the answers. We'll just have to listen to the voice and hope we get our answers soon."

[identity profile] a-bit-put-upon.livejournal.com 2011-04-02 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Provided the voice is feeling generous, of course," he counters with a hint of amusement. "She seems well trustworthy, though I can't help feeling that we're still bowling on a sticky wicket somehow. But, as you imply, onward and upward." He gestures to the air before glancing around them. "Righto... we better had make sure the rest of these people are all right before we go, then. I'll be sure to see you again soon enough, yes?"

[identity profile] eye-of-blundera.livejournal.com 2011-04-02 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
"You can count on it Doctor." Lion-O answers and gives him and friendly pat on the shoulder. "I'll get right on to seeing if anyone needs help."
