The Final Curtain [CLOSED]

Those humans had cost him precious time. The longer he had away from the bearer of the Power, the longer it took to finish the job. Tracking her down to the Hangar, one last figure stood in his way: a tiny blue animal.

"Didn't I tell you? I'm a HEDGEHOG!" Sonic shouted, going into a Sonic Spin and slamming into the creature head on. With a roar, KAIN slapped Sonic through the doors of the Hangar, causing him to slide a good distance. "Heh... is that all you got?"

Begone. KAIN uttered, launching energy balls at the hedgehog. Recovering quickly, Sonic began dodging the assault, ready to strike until one last ball was created and struck head on, causing the hedgehog to go flying, smashing to a halt in a nearby car.

Now... to end this. Entering the hangar, KAIN began hunting down one who got away from him and the one who took her away.

Hay Lin was on one of the top platforms, the Guardian figuring that whoever wanted Sasami would eventually make their way here. To buy herself some time, she'd activated her power of invisibility around not only herself, but the girl who she'd come to love like a sister.

"We'll be okay, Sasami..." she whispered, doing her best to keep a watch on the surrounding area...though she totally didn't expect to see a blue Hedgehog come flying in the Hangar doors!

This...could be a problem...!

Clinging to Hay Lin, Sasami tried her best not to give their position away from her fearful sobs. The beast had hurt so many of her friends. He probably killed the boy she cared so much about - and it was all her fault!

Come out, come out wherever you are... KAIN called out. You can't hide. I'll find you one way or another...

"Shhhh..." Hay Lin whispered quietly, hugging Sasami and holding her close. "It'll be alright...I won't let him hurt you..."

He'll have to kill me first! she thought, doing her best not to give into KAIN's taunts.

What's wrong? Scared? You should be. You saw how I tore through all those people, didn't you? KAIN called out, stalking the Hangar.

Maybe... just maybe... I'll spare the rest after I kill the child. Randomly, KAIN launched an energy orb out, hoping to strike the two.

That...was TOO close! Hay Lin thought, pulling Sasami down while lying on top of her to avoid the energy orb which had whizzed past her shoulder!

And, though she hadn't gotten there until the battle was almost over with she had seen the carnage when she'd arrived.

You really care about that child, don't you? A lot of those people did, apparently. The only reason I didn't kill them was because I wanted her instead. Maybe I should go back and kill them now, hm? How would that feel? KAIN taunted, launching another ball.

Sasami might feel Hay Lin's fingers lightly gripping at her shirt, the Guardian trying to keep her emotions in check.

Don't...put them in the middle of this!

Sasami certainly could feel Hay Lin's fingers. Heck, at this point, she's doing the same, mostly in fear.

How about we start with the boy, hmm? KAIN uttered.

"You keep those people out of this!" Sonic's voice shouted out, the hedgehog gaining his second wind and making another attack, only to be swatted aside.

Pathetic. KAIN uttered. Why don't you all just give up and die like the pests you are.

Hay Lin noticed that Sonic was back in the battle, but unfortunately it didn't seem like he was getting in much damage. Quickly holding up her hand, she blew a gust of wind in the Hedgehog's direction; hopefully, he'd realize exactly where the two of them were at.

More importantly, hopefully KAIN wouldn't put two & two together...!

As Sonic flipped around for a landing, he felt the breeze Hay Lin shot forth, confusing him a bit. Someone else was here: those kids...!

What's wrong, chicken? KAIN taunted.

"No, just ready to make sure you don't try anything stupid!" Sonic said... before KAIN reached over, grabbing a nearby girder and attempting to rip it out... probably not realizing he found Sasami and Hay Lin's hiding place.

CRAP! Hay Lin's grip on Sasami got tighter at that second, quickly taking to the skies with her sister in tow. They couldn't hide for long, and she couldn't stay in the air indefinitely while holding Sasami...

But if that was what she had to do to protect her, the Guardian would for as long as it took.

"NO!" Sonic shouted as Hay Lin ended up taking off into the skies.

Found you! KAIN roared, taking the girder and attempted to smash the two with it.

"Well...no need to stay invisible anymore, Sasami!" The Guardian revealed herself as well as Sasami while holding up one hand and summoning a large blast of wind to counter the girder's trajectory.

KAIN's initial attack missed as planned. However, the beast attempted another swing, this time attempting to crush the two under it.

"...Not on MY watch!" Hay Lin barely managed to fly out of range, landing on the other side of the hangar. Reluctantly, she pulled away from Sasami.

"Hide yourself somewhere, Sasami...I've gotta help stop this guy, okay?"

"No.. no! I-I won't let you, Hay Lin-neesan! This was my fault!" Sasami cried out. "L-Let me...!"

GOT YOU! KAIN roared, lunging for the two, intending on separating them.

"...STAY AWAY FROM MY SISTER!" Hay Lin held up both hands while summoning a tornado to keep KAIN at bay.

"It's not your fault, Sasami! Don't blame yourself; if anyone's to blame, it's this maniac!"

I'm going to enjoy clipping your wings, girl! KAIN roared, fighting the tornado to lunge at Hay Lin, intending on trapping her with his hands.

"Wow...you're really a handful, aren't you?" Hay Lin rolled to the side while summoning another tornado to push KAIN back. At the same time, she glanced behind her to make sure Sasami was still safe.

So are YOU! KAIN shouted, finally making the grab at Hay Lin. You've annoyed me FAR too long...!

Hay Lin grunted as she had literally been backed into a corner, yet she was still smiling even as KAIN had grabbed her.

"So...you finally caught me! There's just one question you should ask yourself, Mr. 3-eyed beastie..."

And what would that be? KAIN asked.

"...Can you keep me?" Hay Lin opened her mouth wide and breathed in a large amount of air as her cheeks puffed out...only to release it directly in KAIN's face as an equally large tornado!

KAIN grunted as the winds struck him head on, pushing him back... but still having his hold on Hay Lin.

I'm going to...! KAIN uttered, before pulling back a hand... and thrusting it forward, intending on smashing Hay Lin into the wall.

"...Wish you'd NEVER tried attacking my mei mei! That what you meant to say?" Hay Lin managed to double her assaunt as she wrenched an arm free and pushed another bout of wind into KAIN's face.

As KAIN continued fighting against Hay Lin's assault, Sasami watched on in horror. There was no way Hay Lin could stand up to this much longer. Something had to be done.

She had to do something.

"Hay Lin-neesan... I'm sorry..." Sasami uttered, hanging her head as something inside her snapped... and gaining KAIN's attention.

"...Sasami?" The Guardian glanced back over at her sister with one eye, having barely heard her apology but still trying to maintain her assault. If KAIN's hand slammed into her head-on, it'd be over.

"I'm tired of this. Tired of the pain. Tired of the suffering..." Sasami uttered, before looking up at KAIN, her pink eyes burning with anger. "I WON'T LET YOU HURT ANYMORE PEOPLE!"

This...! KAIN uttered, seeing energy starting to gather around Sasami. NO! She's unlocked it!

"Leave my friends alone! Leave my family alone! LEAVE ME ALONE!" Sasami shouted as the energy gathered into her hand.

Hay Lin saw an opening at that moment, quickly taking in one last mouthful of air through her mouth before blasting it toward KAIN.

With KAIN distracted, Hay Lin's gust allowed her to be free of his grip, just as Sasami charged at the beast.

"GO AWAY!" Sasami shouted, unleashing the blast through the beast's chest, seemingly shattering it. As he gawked in horror, Sasami's landed on the ground, unmoving...

"Mei mei...! SASAMI!" Hay Lin dropped to the ground as she reverted to normal, running to cradle the girl in her arms.

As far as she knew, she'd lost her Grandma, Taranee, Cornelia, Caleb, her parents, Elyon and everyone else back home; she was even starting to miss Blunk!

She didn't know if she'd be able to handle losing a girl she loved as the sister she never had...

Ah... ahh... that... that child, she... KAIN stammered.

I'll... I'll kill her... I'LL KILL HER! Even with his gaping wound, KAIN was still ready to keep fighting, however...

...before Kain could get a chance to recover, he was hit with a massive plasma blast.

"You'll have to go through me first."

No, Leon didn't have any magical powers, but who needs magic when you have heavy artillery? And he was already readying another shot.

Hit Girl was already there, and gathering up the blue haired girl in her arms and moving. Never mind Hit Girl was already raw and bleeding from her last encounter with Kain: she knew what he wanted and she had no intention of giving it to him.

And she also knew, for the moment, that she was not alone in trying to stop him either.

A vast swarm of black magical darts followed up Leon's shot, raining down on the enraged shadow by the hundreds.

"So she really could do it..." Evangeline, once again whole, mused out loud from where she hovered above the battlefield. "You should have just run."

There was an obvious downside to seeking out the one thing you knew could hurt you, and KAIN was living it. Though not for much longer, if she had her way...

Funny thing about the Hangar -- Zouichi had most of his possessions stored there. That included the bike, which he was now sitting astride. With one deft motion, he pulled out from the vehicle's side a blocky metal object about the size of a briefcase, unfolding it to form the long, slender barrel of the 4000XL. He threaded two power ribbons out from under the bike, snapping their connectors into place at the base of the energy rifle.

"Cycling complete," said a female voice. Zouichi aimed the weapon at KAIN, ready to fire.

"We will cast you aside," Starfire promised with her coldest fury, a large starbolt flaring in her hands. He wouldn't escape this time, not at all.

Caught off guard by his desire to kill Sasami, Leon and Eva's attacks struck head on, causing KAIN to stagger back in pain, made worse by Sasami's attack.

You... all of you, I'll...! KAIN uttered in pain. He couldn't heal from these wounds... but he'd make them all pay.

"Shut up," Leon ordered, then fired again. It was beyond Stacy's power to keep this guy in check, and the Brig couldn't hold him for long, so taking this guy prisoner wasn't an option.

"Stacy, how long until we arrive at the designated point?"

||We will arrive in less than two minutes.||

One way or another, they had to get rid of this guy for good.

Well, she might as well lend a hand somehow: that bastard deserved it for messing her up TWICE. She put Sasami down, and grabbed that gun Overlord Zetta had given her before, and fired on right between the eyes before taking Sasami again.

Revenge or not, she needed to be attended to, but she wanted to make sure Kain was disposed of first.

Starfire understood---they had to fire now and keep up the pressure, no matter how much they were hurting. The alternative of letting Sasami and everyone else die was far worse.

They had to hold the line for two minutes. She could certainly overcome the odd limp in her flight and utter exhaustion if it meant saving her friends.

Say hello to a starbolt shower, Kain. You haven't seen fury like this before.

Zouichi pulled the trigger, bracing himself against the force of the gun's recoil and following up Starfire's starbolts with a violent explosive blast, aimed dead on at KAIN.

Fuyu revved the XLA's engine, cycling the bike's power source for another shot. Two minutes, huh? He'd give it his all.

So they plan was to just pour it on until they could dump him or something, huh? Not exactly elegant... but a struggle for survival seldom was.

She switched from the bolts of elemental darkness to a great cleaving stroke of lightning, to another of her immobilizing ice blasts. She hadn't been able to tell what hurt him most, so she'd settle for giving him as much to deal with as possible.

It looked like he was really feeling it now, at least.

Before, KAIN would have swatted these pests away, strike them down with one blow. But, now, it was growing impossible.

I... will... not... be... DENIED! the wounded KAIN roared, energy launching out from his ever-wounded body. He would take down these fools before he died.

He'd have to hit them first.

"Take cover!" He shouted as he dived behind one of the ships for cover. Less than two minutes and they'd be ready. Just a matter of pushing Kain into position.

"Force him towards the launchers!"

Oh, he was good. He was very, very good. Who knew the captain had a pair of brass ones? Apparently not everyone in a position was a politician.

She ducked behind a ship herself and fired the glocks, making sure he moved toward the launchers.
