Honey, we shrank ourselves [Closed]

Querl had sent a message to all of the persons assigned to the exploratory team to meet him in Special Weapons. When they arrived they would find him giving a few last minute tweaks to a palm sized device. He waited until they were all assembled.

"I have constructed a device that will decrease you to approximately 1/100th of your present size. Once you have located the Helmacron ship, you must stand within 5 feet of this device. To activate it you must press here." Querl pointed out the largest button on the device. "I've even made it red so you will not be confused." Oh yes, he was being exceedingly patronizing. "The blue button activates an impenetrable force-field 5 feet in diameter in all directions. It has a limited charge but may be used multiple times. It can be activated for a total of 67 minutes so conserve its energy.

"Did I slow my speech sufficiently for your comprehension or are there any questions?"

"Well, your tone could use a lot of work." Scott was not amused.

Billy silently agreed with Scott's assessment, but he wasn't daring enough to say so. "Thank you, Querl," he said instead, the perfect picture of manners.

Marco raised a hand, as if he were in school. "You guys do know that this is completely insane, right? Just so we're clear."

Kate glanced over at him, "You don't get it. That transmission. We have to go. And hey, wouldn't be the first time did something crazy. As long as it works."
livestoannoy: (Dude no way)

[personal profile] livestoannoy 2011-02-27 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
"Except we're going to be on their level now," Marco pointed out. "Helmacrons are laughable normally, but if you shrink down to their size? They move from being an annoyance to a very real threat. Not to mention the fact that Helmacrons are completely nuts. Seriously. We'll probably get there and find that they're demanding that Stacy surrender to the 'might of the Helmacrons' and going on about how her tentacle weapons don't frighten them."
morphitudinous: (Ripples)

"I'm getting mixed signals," Billy commented, a slight look of confusion on his face. "We shouldn't crush them, because the signal indicated that they might hold information of interest to us. On the other hand, it could just as easily be a trap."

Which was bad. "When you say 'nuts', are you suggesting that they're laughable or irrationally dangerous?"
livestoannoy: (Ax they're everyone's minutes)

[personal profile] livestoannoy 2011-02-27 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Both. Dude, they're like a sixteenth of an inch tall and they think they can conquer the universe. They're totally laughable. But at the same time, you can't reason with them . If you don't surrender or give them whatever it is that they want, they'll attack - never mind that you're a hundred times bigger than they are and they most they can do is give you lots of tiny tiny laser pin pricks. Oh, and whatever you do? Don't take the Captain hostage. Their Captain will be dead. Believe me, it's not a good idea."

[identity profile] vision-ya.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"[And if you surrender?]" Jonas asked. Not that surrendering was something that appealed to him, but if it would get them on the ship without having to harm the Helmacrons or anyone else inside...
livestoannoy: (Heh)

[personal profile] livestoannoy 2011-02-27 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, first they'll take you do the definitely dead Captain and tell you to grovel," Marco said. Then he grinned. "Not that this is actually that bad, since if you ask them how you're meant to grovel tell tell you do just 'grovel in the manner of your people', and you can just do whatever the hell you want. Then they'd probably make you into slaves, although we didn't really stick around for that part so I don't know what slaves actually do."

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"We don't know how many are there though, might still be able to take them if we have to," Kate spoke up again, her arms folded in front of her.

[identity profile] sum1yourownsize.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"No one is going to become a slave. Got it?" Scott felt a little frustrated.
morphitudinous: (...what in the name of)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2011-02-28 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Understood, sir," Billy answered lightly. "So what's the plan?"

It didn't need to be extraordinarily detailed, but as long as they were vaguely on the same page before they shrunk...

[identity profile] sum1yourownsize.livejournal.com 2011-02-28 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
Scott reached up to check his helmet. "The mission is to get there. First. Focus on that. Next, we need to focus on finding out who sent that message and why. We'll need to do whatever we can short of sacrificing ourselves to complete this mission."

"[Once I am appropriately-sized, I have no doubt that I can interface with their ship,]" Jonas said. "[Any hand-held weapons will need to be dealt with as they come, but taking control of the ship itself should not be beyond my abilities.]"

He shifted his weight impatiently, hoping that the question-and-answer portion of the day was over so that they could get started.
