Research of an unusual kind [open]

Cargn, having been part of the crew for far longer than anyone else, knew a lot of useful secrets the ship held.

For example, it was a little known fact that the Sensoriums were the best place in the ship to perform psychic research, as psychic energy flowed more freely within their walls.

"Stacy," he said, walking into one of the Sensoriums, "Initiate program 788-291-Primaris."

The room changed, becoming a featureless white room, and the tall robed figure of Cargn placed the blue wooden box in his hands on the ground in front of him. He knelt down, opening the box and retrieving the crystalline sphere that was the Map, obtained during the previous mission.

He lifted the Map up, allowing it to float in mid-air thanks to the invisible force field provided by Stacy.

"Establish a psycholine and begin monitoring any changes. Make sure to record all the data as well."

Numerous holographic screens suddenly appeared, surrounding Cargn, each one displaying a dizzying array of data. Satisfied his preparations were complete, he placed his hands on either side of the Map, and began to concentrate, establishing a psychic connection between himself and the sphere before him.

Lines of energy, like miniature bolts of lightning, jumped from the sphere to Cargn's fingertips, causing him to wince slightly. Blood began to slowly drip from his nose, but he paid no attention to that.

The serious look on his face as he delved into the secrets of the Map mirrored his conviction as he pressed on despite the pain. He knew that this one task would bring him one major step forward towards his own goals. He would not allow himself to fail in this.

"I still want to make a copy of that damn thing," the book grumbled as its minion carried it forward. "I'm telling you, having only one of it around is just asking for disaster or betrayal or some crap."

"S'why I said we wish for all the data to be stored in the Sacred Tome here," Zetta returned. "But whatever we do, I'm not sure I'm comfortable with it being out and not under guard. "

He frowned, watching the screens and the light show all at once.

"So. What would help you get this done faster?"

"It's not magic," Zetta grumbled.

Yeah, he can see exactly where this is going. Still... his instinct told him to be wary of this whole process. Something just told him trouble would be afoot.

"Hey, there's no way there's... I don't know, something dangerous in the map, is there? Like some mind-eating meme or something."

Ronnae had been wandering into sensoriums that day, just seeing if there was anyone she recognized. Upon entering this particular one she tilted her head curiously at whatever it was Sir Cargn was doing. She entered as quietly as she could and closed the door behind her. She got close but stopped when she saw him concentrating, but also, in pain.

"S-sir Cargn? Are you alright?" She asked concerned.

[identity profile] ronnae.livejournal.com 2011-02-21 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
She bowed quickly and kept her head low. "I didn't mean to intrude, I was just concerned is all. If there's anything I could do to assist you, please let me know."

Vivio had been busy thinking recently, especially after the mission. There was so much she didn't know, and the studious part in her wanted to know more, but she didn't know where to start. She decided to head into one of the Sensoriums to think for a bit, only to be surprised by what she saw.

This was something VERY unlike anything she'd seen and it made her all the more curious.

"Wow... amazing..." she uttered, knowing Cargin might hear her.

[identity profile] notsaintkaiser.livejournal.com 2011-02-22 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Thank you." Vivio said, bowing in respect. Approaching closer, she looked over everything with such a wide-eyed wonder. "There's so many... how can you handle it all...?"

Daimon folded his arms across his chest, watching from the door. Of course it was rude to enter uninvited, but Daimon did so anyway.

He had not talked to Cargn since- well, since Fairview.

"What are you doing?"

That much is obvious, Daimon managed to stop himself from saying.

"What sort of tests?" Daimon asked, carefully watching and silently thanking the map for its existence because it got him laid.

Setsuna normally didn't bother with the sensoriums. He found the rooms to be obscene, to put it mildly. Though, today, some instinct had been pointing him here and Setsuna was one to follow his instincts.

When he entered, he saw Cargn with the crystal they got from the Rom. He didn't interrupt, choosing for the moment to observe quietly.

Setsuna was raised by wolves. And terrorists. He tends to invite himself wherever he wants.

"So that's supposed to lead us to the key to saving ourselves, and possibly saving everyone else." Forgive him if he doesn't sound terribly convinced.

did you want Eleven to sense any of the psychic stuff going on or nah? I'm cool either way

[personal profile] makeherblue 2011-02-22 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
The Doctor, too, wasn't particularly one for the Sensoriums either. It was a distraction, the kind you could get lost in and not even realize it. Potentially dangerous stuff. Normally he chose to stay away, focus on fixing the TARDIS and trying to map her (often not quite in that order, but still: it was getting done). The sheer white and the array of data in front of the man already inside was enough to make him steer toward the Sensoriums for a change. He peered inside, the man's back to the Time Lord.

For a human, all that information would have been impossible to take in. For the Doctor it was...actually quite fast, surprisingly, and with his loss of total recall, he would have to sit up and pay attention instead of flipping through, like he would for casual book reading. The Doctor made as if to knock. Somehow there was something intensely dissatisfying trying to knock on a fleshy wall. Didn't quite have the same ring.

"Hello! Incredible, isn't it?" the Doctor chimed up. His eyes slid to the man's back, the data's light flashing across his face.

The Doctor most certainly felt free to observe. Normally more than observe but this was one of those times it was probably best not to get to meddling. Or muddling. Or fussing about. Instead he came into the Sensoriums, looking around with a sort of cautious interest, before focusing back on the screens. Now that he was inside, he could feel an interesting pressure, right at the back of his skull and just under his ears. That, and the feeling as if something was watching. Not that anything necessarily was. It was just this sort of...awareness. That feeling you felt when someone surely had to be watching and no one was there.

"Any luck? Oh! That algorithm right there several hundred flashes back was quite interes - you're bleeding," the Doctor cut himself off, having come close enough to see. "Rather large load for one person," he added, mildly. "Do you need help?"
