[OPEN] Downtime

Most of the people who used the Sensoriums fell into two categories: They either wanted to use the place to find some new and creative way to break themselves in half, or they used it to replicate their home in some kind escapist fantasy. Leon didn't fall into either one of those groups, which may explain why he didn't use the sensoriums much, if at all. He figured whatever they would face in the rest of the ship would find new and creative ways to try to break him into pieces, and as much as he missed home, he'd rather deal with the reality of the situation than pretend this wasn't happening.

He did, however, visit the media library fairly frequently. He didn't bother looking up too much information on himself, particularly after he became aware of Resident Evil. Nor did he look up information on others unless he absolutely needed to. But listening to some music and browsing through books and articles did help him relax. So did the game of Tetris he was able to download to his phone, but flipping through stuff was a bit more productive. At least then he might learn more about this ship, its purpose, the Ohm, and the mysterious Third Party.

In between Tetris breaks, anyway.

Kelly, though she fell neatly into the category of 'people trying to find new ways to break themselves in half' and 'people trying to recreate their home' (her home is just like that) did value the other information Stacy held as well. That being said, she'd taken herself down to the library after eating a generous portion of Stacy's slop.

She'd been steadily accumulation knowledge on the other inhabitants of the ship and was about to begin another foray into the information, when she heard the beeping sounds from what could be some sort of bomb? Comm device? Sticking her head around the corner she caught a glimpse of the man, he seemed to be playing with some sort of hand held gaming device.

"Looks like fun." She finally spoke up.

She glanced over his shoulder at the game. "What's the objective?"

[identity profile] unsc-rabbit.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
She nodded at his explanation, watching lose and letting out a small chuckle. "I suppose the objective is to stay ahead of the flood, then?"

Yeah, you'll have to forgive her Leon, 26th Century isn't really good with ancient arcade games.

She looked down at the phone for a moment before raching out to take it. "Why not?"

She sat next to him and started the game again, quickly familiarizing herself with the controls. She played in silence for awhile before speaking up, her eyes on the game. "It doesn't look to difficult, the blocks are dropping in a sort of staggered algorythm. If I can figure it out, it shouldn't be too difficult to beat the game no matter how fast it goes."

She's just smart like that. Spartan training does that.

"I suppose every program needs to have an end point, the data needed to create a game that would run indefinitely while still getting progressively mor difficult would be incalculable, I'd say." And no Spock as a designer, sadly.

"It's Kelly." She would have offered him a hand, but she was busy kicking his ass at Tetris keeping track of the game.

She nodded. "I that's probably true. We'll find out, I suppose."

She'd already gotten far beyond the level he was at, and her eyes quickly follow the blocks, placing them effectively so that at least on line vanishes with every two or three blocks she places.

She kept going, still managing to keep ahead of the flow as the game dropped blocks faster and faster.

"Reach. A planet in the Epsilon Eridani System." Not that that'd mean anything to him...

Well she's still completely human. She's just... more than human as well now. Attacking alien forces make you do that.

"Petty Officer Second Class of the United Nations Space Command Defense Forces, Navy." She gritted her teeth as the things started piling up faster than she seemed able to keep up.

[identity profile] unsc-rabbit.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
Aaaaand she lost. The blocks touched the top and the game over message flashed in her face. She blinked and put the phone on the table, looking about as put out as a Spartan could. "Well, not anymore."

She just might have been grumbling.

[identity profile] unsc-rabbit.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
"I suppose." She didn't seem placated though. She should have gone further, dammit.

She nodded at his question. "We were raised together."

[identity profile] unsc-rabbit.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
She shook her head slightly.

"Most people wouldn't know. We're not related, but we looked out for each other during SPARTAN training. Still do."

Thankfully, they didn't have any ideas but to get off the ship and help as many of the others as they could at the same time. But Kelly would fight anyone to keep the Chief safe, and she'd probably follow him to hell and back if he felt so inclined.

"I didn't catch your name."

[identity profile] unsc-rabbit.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Touché." She'd probably just smack him if her was a dick to her. Kelly really isn't great with the whole 'patience' thing.

"How long've you been on the ship?"
