Well. That was certainly a waste. At least for Irma.

The mission was a success - they were able to get a hold of a special artifact that was supposed to help them get to point B (whatever that might be), but to Irma, that wasn't the bad thing. The bad thing was that most of the group didn't get to be there. Stupid rituals.

Relaxing on a bench within the ship's bench, Irma thought back to those rituals and the fact that, to get in, they had to get married. Then, thought back to the fact that her and Hay Lin were anxious to drag Will onto the mission. What would have happened if they got through? Would they have to be married for the sake of that?

Irma's cheeks burned red as her mind wandered back to that. Her and Hay Lin? Not a problem. Her, Hay Lin and Will? It made her feel just a tad funny. Probably that same funny feeling that she had about Hay Lin.

"...no. No, no, no. I wouldn't be thinking like that. Would I?" she said to herself. She shook her head and tried to shove that thought back, only for another to surface about someone else. And another.

"...maybe I am." she said.

"Sup?" said Ben, coming out of nowhere as he handed her a smoothie. "You're looking like how Matt feels."

"Woah...!" Irma yelped, flailing a bit as her thoughts were greatly interrupted. "Oh... hey, Ben. Just..." She let out an awkward sigh. "Last trip made me feel all awkward."

"Thinking about what?" Will asked, surprised as she saw Irma sitting on the bench as she came closer to her. That last mission, well, it definitely wasn't what she was expecting.

Good thing they hadn't tried to figure out how they were supposed to go about it, actually.

"I know how you feel," admitted Ben as he sat down next to her. "I sat that one out. Gwen stayed on the ship anyhow and like heck I was gonna get hitched to her. And there wasn't anything I could have done anyhow."

"Yeah... Hay Lin and I dragged Will along to try to get her into her first real mission and... yeah. Awkward city. Especially since Will's one of my friends." Irma said.

Notice she said nothing about Hay Lin.

"Will...!" Irma squeaked out, a bit surprised. She calmed down a bit as Will sat down beside her.

"Well... that mission... was awkward and..." Will didn't know, did she?

Ben nodded, reading between the lines a little. "I can bet. You'd probably be okay with some of it, but a third wheel can get incredibly weird."

He sucked at his smoothie, trying to gauge Irma's reaction.

Irma couldn't help but chuckle at Ben. It seemed that he caught on pretty fast.

"Yeah... it does get weird." she replied.

Ben grinned. "Sounds bad of me, but I could have helped with that, take Will off your hands. Though I figure she'd slug me first."

Will blushed a bit as she sat down. "Yeah, that mission was... not what I was expecting. To say the least. It would've been nice if we had been warned about that before leaving the ship. I would've just stayed back if I knew."

"Yeah. Will woulda slugged you for that." Irma said, smirking a bit. "Though... it's silly, I just..." she chuckled a bit. "...ever felt odd about someone and you never realized it until now?"

"Tell me about it." Irma said, looking away. "I kinda feel bad for dragging you into it all, though. Of course, we didn't know, so..."

"Heh... I wonder what would have happened if we went through it..."

Will blinked, looking over at Irma oddly. "It's... what do you mean what would've happened? We would've gotten fake married to someone, and made sure nothing happened during the night."

"You sure, Will?" Irma said. "I mean, I..."

She stammered a bit before looking away a bit. "Will, I just..."

"Sometimes yeah," admitted Ben. "I'm really just surprised that things like this happen once in a while. I'm guessing you're a bit confused over the whole situation?"

Will blinked, looking over at Irma confused. "Yeah, I mean, I don't know most of the people here all that well, certainly not well enough to act like how real newly weds are supposed to..."

"Well, yeah, that, and..." Irma stammered. "...I probably would have enjoyed that time together..."

Will blinked. "There's someone here you would've actually gotten married to if you knew about that going in?"

"Yeah. We all didn't know this would happen and now I'm wondering how it would have gone if, well... Will, Hay Lin and I went through with it."

Her oddball mind was going through a lot of situations, some good, some bad.

"Yeah..." Irma admitted. She let out a sigh as she looked at Will, a small smile formed on her face.

"...and they're both someone close."

Will smiled. "Really? That's great. I'm... real happy for you... although two guys? That'd... explain why you're still single if you're having a hard time deciding..."

No, she doesn't get it.

"No, Will, I...!" Irma stammered. She wasn't getting it and it was taking all of Irma's willpower not to do something drastic.

Instead, she took Will's hand with her own, hoping that will get her attention.

"No... it's... it's Hay Lin and..." she trailed off, looking at Will, hoping THAT'LL get the message across.

Irma looked at Ben. And blinked. And blinked again.

"...Will would hurt me if I suggested that! I don't know about Hay Lin, though!" Irma said, resisting the urge to whap Ben.

Will blinked, her eyes widening a bit when Irma took her hand. And mentioned that the person was Hay-Lin. And was trailing off. And looking at her.

Dear god, when did that happen? "Irma... how? Why? When? I mean... we were... just friends back home and I've only been here a month? How does that..."
