In Which Alex Wa s Foolish [Closed, bendytimed before Marriage Planet like whoa.]
Warriors? Easy. Spellcasters? Not his style, but not a problem. Scientist and tech-types? He can work with that.
Weird emotion-eating power-generating kids? Uh, that one's a bit out of his league.
So they'd wing it.
As was his wont for training, the Overlord commandeered a sensorium and set up a pretty generic fighting field, rolling green hills with Prinnies wandering around getting into trouble and saberkitties playing with overly large balls of string.
There, the book waited.

The rogue-type minion wielding the pole promptly turned around, whipped the pole back, then snapped it forward in a powerful cast -- in the complete opposite direction of the Prinny. A moment passed before the hook shot back into sight behind the rogue, latching onto the Prinny mercilessly.
"Dood!" the Prinny squawked as the minion hauled back on the rod. In a cloud of dust and debris, the Prinny shot violently backwards, dragged brutally across the ground. Another few moments passed as the pole's reel whirred -- then the Prinny skidded into view, sliding past the assembled watchers as the rogue yanked the hook out of it with a flick of the wrist.
It skidded, ludicrously battered and quite unconscious, right back to its starting point.

The book would have hit its forehead with the heel of its hand, except for all the obvious reasons. "That's what you need. You need your.. I don't know what to call it, inner place of confidence."
