In Which Zetta Ponders His Options [Open]

The sensorium took on the image of the Netherworld, specifically the Overlord's Castle. Titanic stone walls covered on every sign of opulence -- paintings, tapestries, other wall hangings, framing large statues of armor than seemed requisite for such a setting. Down the immense, red-carpeted hall and through the doors to the throne room, one might see the Overlord, sitting on a throne meant for his body, not his book-self, and frowning.

For the first time since he'd woken up on this ship, with no Netherworld, no body, nothing but his raw mana power and his determination to get everything back, he was beginning to doubt that it was possible.

"They don't care," he said to himself. "They lost their worlds, but life on this freakin' ship is so great they don't care about getting them back. They don't care about their friends in the pods. They don't care about the worlds the Ohm are destroying.

"...And I call myself evil?"

Not that he cared about losing the election. It was who he lost to, and the message that it sent, that left him sitting there in anger and frustration and quiet horror.

"How the hell am I supposed to do this by myself?"

"....." She looked at him curiously. "How do you think it happened?" Now it was her turn to wonder if she had to explain the birds and the bees to the badass overlord.

"Yeah, if I guess whether or not it was voluntary, I'm gonna piss you off something fierce if I get it wrong." Not that he cared! Right?!

Ronnae fussed. "Of-of course it was voluntary! ..... Well mama Nali not so much but she and papa was voluntary!" Her face was now red again.

"Wait, it was, but it wasn't --" You have officially lost the Overlord. Again.

Ronnae rubs her temple trying to calm down. "My mama's parentage was more of a surprise. However when she and papa got together, is was mutual, voluntary. Love, not... that you really care for that notion... As youve made it painfully clear." She sighed.

"Your dad wasn't very demonlike though, I'm assuming," Zetta said, trying to work this out in his head. "Some humans trade their humanity away to live in the Netherworld..."

Ronnae shook her head. "No, mama Nali was the half-demon. Papa was a paladin, an elf. Which is where I get half my heritage. My birth mother was an orc." She said clearly. She didn't know why it was so easy to say this stuff to Zetta... She would otherwise keep this sort of thing from anyone else due to people judging her or her family. But it didn't seem Zetta care for much anyways... At least it was pleasant to talk about them again...

"Oh, okay. NOW I see." He frowned, sending his thoughts back to previous times. "I've met a few human girls in the Netherworld, or at least formerly human-"

He looked horrified for a moment, then furious. "BUT I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY OF THEM!"

Ronnae raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Afraid of girls Zetta?" She mused with a teasing tone at him.

"Girls have nothing to do with it!" Zetta roared. "Especially not former apprentices that I never HAD TO BEGIN WITH!"

Zetta: Master of subtlety.

Ronnae laughed a little. "So, tell me about this apprentice that you didn't have hm? Sounds like it's a nice tale, you won't mind right? Since it's not real?"

"I told you I NEVER HAD ONE!" Zetta bellowed. The direct approach might not be best here. "Stop asking questions about her! She's dead to me!"

"Alright alright sheesh. She prolly never existed anyways. Jus' like you said right? So you have nothing to worry about."

"Damn straight," Zetta said, glaring fiercely at Ronnae.

Ronnae shrugs and turns around. "Was prolly a boring story anyways."

"....The hell is that supposed to mean?! I'm ZETTA! The story of how I clipped my TOENAILS is more interesting than the history of ten thousand worlds!"

Seriously, Ronnae, how can you ever be intimidated by someone so damn easy to manipulate?

"Obviously this one isn't. Usually Overlords boast so that the peons know their place no? Retell how magnificently awesome their life is. But this story? Naw too boring, think I'll go look for a prinny or something."

"I control all the damn Prinnies on this ship!" Zetta snarled. "Try and summon one and I'll blow it up so fast you'll see time go BACKWARDS to make it happen!"

Ronnae glared at the book. She stood in silence for a long while before bowing her head. "If you need anything let me know Zetta. Even if you try to be a jerk most of the time, I appreciate what you did for me." She studies him a bit longer before taking her slow stride heading to the doors.

"Uh... d-okay," said the book, abruptly deflating from its snarling anger as it became confused again.

Ronnie looked over her shoulder when she reached the door. "Well? Are you coming?" She looked at the book offering a smile.

"Wh- what?!" His preferred minion crashed down next to the Overlord, scooping him up, then moving ahead to catch up with the orc girl. "Where the hell are we going?!"

"Somewhere that's not this depressing empty hall." She looks up with a smile and places her hands in her hoodie's pocket. "A walk seems nice enough."

"I didn't recreate anything outside of here," Zetta grumbled. "So pick something."

"Mind if I take over your sensorium then?" She asked as they walked nowhere in particular.
