Hayate was ever so peaceful in the hydroponics. The over lapping leaves of plants crowded together gave an atmosphere brimming with life; what's more, it was relatively quiet and calm. All in all, it was the perfect place to enjoy reading some poetry, especially poetry celebrating nature. It was an act of idealism; there was so little of the nature she was used to around here.
She crunched on little celery she picked, and swallowed, fingers flipping another page. She cleared her throat and read quietly aloud, but in the otherwise almost silent seclusion, it was audible.
A saturated meadow,
Sunshaped and jewel-small,
A circle scarely wider
Than the trees around are tah--tah, aachcoo!"

Her sneeze howls out with ear-splitting loudness, cracking the screen of her digital reader. "Ahhh!!" By comparison to the sneeze, her panicked cry was almost quiet. Or maybe the sneeze was downright deafening.

Her jaw dropped as she stared down at her damaged screen. What is this, Hayate doesn't even
... It's kind of legible on the top half still... she sniffled...

Irma had to be in the wrong place at the right time. The second Hayate had sneezed, she was passing by the mage when it struck. A moment later, the Water Guardian was on her knees covering her ears in pain.
"Wh... what the hell was that?!"
Oh, if she could hear the answer... or her own question.

"What? Speak up! I can't hear you! My ears are ringing!" Irma said, nearly shouting. Give her a bit, Hayate...!

Are ya alright?
She kneels down next to Irma.

I-I'm fine, just... one minute I'm just passing along here out of boredom, then next I can't even hear myself! she replied. G-Give me a moment, though... I think it's starting to come back slowly...

Oh, I didn't know ya could do this too. W, well... 'm just glad yer okay ... relativ'ly speakin', anyway...

Using Hayate as a brace, Irma staggered to her feet.
"Ugh... okay, hearing's coming back... and don't blame yourself... well... if it was your fault."

She rose up, shouldering the other woman.

"So, what were you doing out here before... whatever just happened?"

"Ouch... You don't think you can get back to doing so, would you?" she asked, unknowing of the fate of the reader.
no subject
"... well. Mostly."
no subject
"Great... which means, who or whatever caused this problem is gonna be real dangerous..."

She grinned sheepishly at that.
