Get Over It [Open]
So, she'd gone and passed out and gotten quite a lot of sleep. Since then, she'd been doing her best to catch up in terms of training and preparedness. Apparently there was a new group of people flying things called Mobile Suits (which were basically like Evas, except smaller and not as good) and they had their own group.
Or something.
Asuka wouldn't have wanted to work with them anyway. Unit 02 needed no backup! At least, that was her thought. But it'd been a while since she'd taken it out for a spin (and what had ever happened to that guy who was working on a fusion generator for her). She'd have to look into that. Again. At least she wouldn't have to go through basic.
She adjusted her duty jacket, perched on the shoulder of her Eva in the hangar bay. The entry plug was deployed - out and waiting for her climb into it if she wanted, but the damn thing wasn't ready for that yet. She needed LCL, a whole support network, so many things that she didn't have at the moment. She groused to herself and then headed for the catwalk surrounding the monstrous machine. Maybe she should go poke at her X-Wing instead.

Which is why he was now approaching the Eva unit, hands stuffed in his lab coat pockets, one eyebrow arched over the goggles that covered his eyes.
"I'd say welcome back, save for the fact you don't seem too happy to be here. Not that I can blame you, I suppose."

She threw her other hand up in exasperation. "...good to see you, I guess. Although from my perspective it's only been a few days."

Stephen gestured to the Eva 02, lifting a hand to run it over his hair. "I had a chance to finish the schematics before the forgetfulness set in, and I've had time to build a prototype in my lab. I'm not entirely certain where we could test it. Maybe the Sensoriums?"

Stephen nodded there, mostly to himself, and then continued. "It will be jettisonable if necessary, and I do have plans for replacements if that's also necessary, but I certainly hope not. I actually put the schematics in Engineering as well."
And for a moment there, he looked quite smug. But it didn't last long.
"I hope that meets your expectations?"

"It was my pleasure, Miss Soryu, I assure you. I'd still like to run some diagnostics when it's attached to its proper moorings to make certain everything's running as it should, but I'd like to make sure I go through the proper channels, of course."
And there was still the matter of getting the fusion core from his lab to the Eva itself.

"I can't wait until I can actually pilot this thing again! I've missed it so much!"

Her eyes gazed upon a red machine as her head tilted up. "Wonder what this thing is." It certainly wasn't anything she saw before in her world, but hey, that was the reason for her exploring.
Then, she noticed Asuka and smiled in a friendly way. "Oh, hey! I'm sorry I didn't see you there. What's up?"

She did the same motion with her hands to reply to her. "It's pretty sweet from what I can see of it! I'm Hikari Hoshi, nice to meet you! Do you mind if I come up?"

Hoshi gave the command for Seraphiel to turn into his angel form. When that was done, he picked her up and placed her to where she was near Asuka. After it, he transformed to his eagle form and flew over to his mistress.
"All done!"

She didn't offer to shake. That wasn't how Asuka operated.

"It's very nice to meet you, Asuka. What does a Flight Officer do?"

"What does an Eva do, too, if you don't mind me asking?"

"Tetsuro would have given his right foot just be see all this." Eventually, Sho comes across a rather familiar big red mech. He studies it for a moment and it only takes him a second to remember.
"That's Asuka's Eva Unit. The real one. It looks even bigger in person."

"Hey Asuka!" He shouts back. "I guess this is the real Eva? It's cool! What are you doing?"

He starts making his way up the stairs to meet Asuka on the catwalk, examining the Eva as he does so.
"It's certainly different from a lot of the other mechs I've seen so far. What can it do?"

"The battles you've been in, were they tough? They must have been pretty destructive. It takes a lot of responsibility to be entrusted with that kind of power."

Its build was human-shaped like a mobile suit, but apart from that it was completely different- more streamlined, less boxy, less mechanical overall, he observed. The face on it was something that could give a guy nightmares, he thought to himself- and considering that was the entire point of his suit, it gave him pause.
He hadn't yet noticed the machine's pilot circling the catwalk- but then, he didn't know Asuka was its pilot yet, either- so he paid no mind to getting caught inspecting her machine as she approached.

"Ah? This guy's yours, huh?" He called back, giving a friendly smile. "Sure is! Can't believe I hadn't noticed him before!"

Best war machine, huh.. you don't gotta sound so proud about it, he thought to himself with a snort. "I dunno, I must be goin' blind. What'd you call it, an 'Eva'?" He started walking up the ramp to join her- and to get himself a closer look at the machine.

She settled her back against the railing and tapped a toe against the grating. "Short for Evangelion. Great, huh?"
no subject
Suppressing his urge to tinker with it, he turned to her, leaning against the railing himself. "I'm Duo. Duo Maxwell. My machine's down the line," he jerked his thumb towards the area of the hangar where the mobile suits all stood. "The awesome big black one, of course. And you are?"
no subject
She peered over his shoulder curiously; she'd never paid much attention to the mobile suits. They were all inferior to her Eva, so why bother?
