The location? Shea Stadium, circa late 90's. Two innings in, Mets down by two and up to bat. The occupant? Well, it was mostly filled with a semi-decent crown of fake people, but the only member of the crew currently watching the game was the younger Peter Parker.

The current score didn't really concern Peter. Plenty of time left in game to get back, and the game itself was kind of secondary. He was mostly there to reconnect with himself after the mess that was Fairplay, and what better way than the place where he learned one of the other key lessons that made him who he was.

Still, he didn't mind if anyone else decided to watch the game.

"Hey. Now this is more like it!" Hear that voice, Peter?

"No, not really," she came down and sat next to him, settling in comfortably. She loved a good sports game. Putting her feet up on the chair in front of her, she casually said, "Spill the beans."

Mary Jane looked to Peter with a look of confusion and worry, before turning back to the game, and letting out a resigned sigh. She looked at her hands on her knees, thinking back to the last time Peter had gotten incredibly upset. "He's prone to do that. As much as he cracks jokes and swings on a web."

"Are you?" she looked at him. Then away. "Yeah, I suppose you would be. Not that it's a bad thing..." She folded her arms. "Just puts me through a ringer of guilt and worry, and I've stayed up some nights, waiting with the disinfectant and some bandages, for him to come swinging in, a total mess." She moved one leg down from where it sat, swinging it back and forth a bit lazily. "I'll go check on him in a bit. Just to make sure he's all right."

She had been drawn in by the sounds -- what kind of recreation was this? At home, she didn't really have much time to take in sporting events, nor were they really that popular. So Sandry decided that today, she would watch this strange game and figure out how to play. It looked simple enough -- hitting a ball with a bat and then running the bases. But she knew there had to be more to it.

"So...what exactly are they doing?" Sandry asked no one in particular. Hopefully, at least someone would know the answer.

"Who's winning?"

A grinning green face plopped himself down in a seat next to Peter with a "#1" Foam hand on his head like a hat and a tub of nachos.

Having left the city (for once), it was only mild curiosity that caused him to stop by the Sensoriums as well, while he was out. Still, it was not anything he had been expecting-- he knew of the game, from his time on Earth, but it was nothing that he had paid much heed to, in general.

"... baseball," he commented idly, as he stepped through the stands, watching closely for who it was that was part of the 'crew' in there.

"Booo." Responded the Changling offering the nachos to Peter, "Great idea though, I haven't seen a baseball game in forever! Like, last time the Titans and I had to win a baseball game against a bunch of criminals."

"Yeah I heard a little of that, you guys had a pretty rough go huh?" He crunched away keeping his eyes on the field thinking back to the games he and the Titans used to watch in Jump City.

"Kory?" Beastboy suddenly was at full attention turning back to Peter, "What happened to her out there?"

[identity profile] changelingdude.livejournal.com 2011-01-20 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Beastboy blinked once, twice, third time and then snorted and laughed.

"What's so bad about cheerleaders? I would think Starfire would be all about cheer!"

[identity profile] changelingdude.livejournal.com 2011-01-20 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Home schooled." Beastboy declared passively before carrying on, "So what's the problem are we talking like...upper crust full of themselves "Pretty young teens with problems" cheerleaders? I mean don't they take care of their own?" He inquired worried as he thought back to some of the teen dramas he missed from T.V back home.

"Oh..." Beastboy's ears drooped. "So like...they totally bagged on her?" There was a pause before he realized another option, "Oh..or like...she turned into a horrible um...witch?"
