DISTRACT Is Super Effective! [Open]
She sneezed and the fishing rod in her hands briefly jumped in her grasp.
Astrid huffed out a grunt, a hand relinquishing hold on the line as she indignantly rubbed under her stubby nose with the back of her finger while her blue eyes dully leered at nothing in particular off-screen.
That sneeze. Someone talking smack about her?
Disregarding this fleeting suspicion, she shrugged it off, merely readjusting her grip on the handle, and settled posterior more comfortably on the moss-covered boulder beneath her.
Within the encompassing towering stone walls of what appears to be a lost oasis, Astrid engaged in fishing on these familiar grounds taken from her memory of a memorable location somewhere on the outskirts of the Viking's home village -- the exact place she stealthily pursued after Hiccup and discovered Toothless subsequently. 'Course, for Hiccup and his dragon, this secret watering hole served as a base where they established their bond as well.
Today, though it just served as a relaxing getaway for one of the female's less than energy draining hobbies. Or so she thought? There's a sudden reflection of a figure on the waters pristine surface and it was impossible not to notice she now has company.
Astrid blinked a moment, then pursed her lips and turned her head to look up sidelong at whoever approached her with a stare clearly of "Hey, don't scare the fish."

"Astrid Hofferson," she introduced in return. So she's anti-social at times, but she can't be rude towards someone who has a interest in one of Astrid's favorite pastimes.
"Oh, new member, right? I skipped out on the gathering." Due to her coping with mission fatigue and the stress that followed her after finally returning back on board, however she'll just leave that unspoken.
As for that extra fishing pole. Here, Hoshi, she'll help you with that. You'll have one in your hands right now.
Astrid rested her pole against her shoulder, waved a hand dismissively and assured Hoshi. "And don't worry about it; this place is a bit daunting until you get the hang of how to control it."

"Yeah. I guess I 'popped' a few days ago. And, it's okay. I was shown around here by Sasami," Hoshi explained, using the air quotes gesture when she said popped. That was still weird, no matter how anyone looked at it.
She felt the weight of a fishing rod in her hands and couldn't help but smile at the offer of help. "Thank you, Astrid."
She chuckled warmly, nodding at that. "Oh, I can get behind that! I'm still trying to find my way around here."

Sitting Indian style, she relaxed and allowed Hoshi to get acquainted with the simulated nature. "I see." Astrid perked some and angled her head, the faint rustle of leaves catching her attention. Was something else here?

Hoshi sat down in a style very similar to Astrid's own while she threw her line out to catch some of the fishes, however simulated they were. The motion Astrid made had her wondering just a bit before she blinked in realization.
"Oh! Seraphiel, come on out," she called out to him as her holy beast flew through the sky and rested on a rock next to her. He was in his eagle form at the present, having found no need to transform just yet.

Huh? Seraphiel... whoa!
The Viking tensed, wide-eyed, as the creature made it's appearance from above, then she eased a little when it didn't seem hostile and marveled at the unusual bird.
"Your pet?"
no subject
Seraphiel took one glance at Astrid, cawing a little. It seemed like Hoshi trusted this girl, so he wasn't at all hostile towards her in the least.
"Sorta like that. He's my holy beast," she said, bringing her hand up to pet him on the beak. He returned the gesture with a playful nip at her finger. It wasn't strong enough to break her skin, though.

Interested, she inquired, "Hm, what's so holy about him?"
no subject
"That's what the spirits that rest inside beyblades are called -- holy beast. Seraphiel is one of them. I guess you could say that they're like having your own mythical creature with you," Hoshi explained to the Viking while watching the interaction between her and Seraphiel.

Interesting, indeed, though she only understood half of that. Mostly the term "beyblade" was lost to her.
"...blade? Is that a weapon? And, wait. Spirit?"
no subject
Unicorns and fairies seemed to be lacking in popularity, however.
"It kinda is. This is my beyblade." She went through her pouch that was attached to her leg and took out her beyblade. She decided to not take out her launcher, though. "It's a top, but it's a lot more complicated than just simply having it spin."
She nodded at her question about the spirits. "Yeah. Usually Seraphiel is inside my chip, but he decided to join me or something. I can't say for certain since he was like this when I got to grab my possessions."
no subject
"That little thing? But it's..." Petite? A toy? "...how does it function as a weapon exactly?" She leans back, raising her eyebrow and smiling skeptically.
"--Unless the blades come out around the edges when it spins - maliciously sawing through your opponents?!"
Her eyebrows lift as she looks thrilled at that possible aspect. Now that would be cool!

She nervously laughed at Astrid's question, scratching behind her head a little bit. "W-Well, it's a very high impact sport where the 'blades go hard and fast, but the real fun is when you summon your holy beast. For example, let's say you have a...dragon. Now, when you call forth your dragon from inside of your chip, it's released and then you can cause real damage to the stadium and, possibly, outside of it. It's not exactly sawing through your opponents, but it's still giving them some damage."
She hoped that would sound just as cool as 'maliciously sawing through your opponents' to her.
no subject
"Even better," she grinned.
Yup, she's satisfied with that.
Scratching the underside of her chin, Astrid considered something and tilted her head. "...Hm, care to demonstrate? I'm curious."
