Me, myself, and I [ Semi-Open]

Okay. Time to go through this stuff, Jaime figured. He'd spent a few days just wandering the ship and looking around, poking through the city. It was unnerving, being here. Seeing a couple people who knew him but who he didn't recognize. So now, he supposed, it was time to go through these notes. He'd set himself up in the media library with the modified omnicomm and was preparing to go through the information therein.

It was strange. Like looking at notes he'd taken in one of his classes--but he didn't remember writing them. But they were his, all the same. He sighed quietly and scrolled through the various options. Where to start? It was all so overwhelming. It reminded him of when he had first gotten the Scarab. The fear, the uncertainty, the confusion. He'd hoped he'd never have to feel like that again, but here he was.

Time to get to work.

[[OOC: Semi-open! This is for Saphie and I to do some info-dumping, primarily, but if you wanna come bug Jaime, drop me a line and I'll more than likely give you the go ahead.]]

One file was marked: Read this first.

Okay, so maybe he should start there? It was marked as information on the Ohm and Daligig.

It was a lot of information, but it mostly spelled out the basics. There was video footage (awful, terrible video footage) of the crew's encounter with the Ohm on Zokez. There was footage of the crew communicating with the Daligig the few times they had. There was information gleaned from that kid Aang talking about the Daligig and the Ohm, and the video footage he'd shown. There was information about the space pirates, and what the Daligig had said they were responsible for doing to the ship.

Something that was somewhat alarming to note was that the Daligig general commented that the scarab was Ohm tech, but Jaime noted that he'd get to that.

But what was most important was the part after all the records, after all the hard date, marked "Personal notes."

Now here's the part you're probably wondering as you're reading this, because it's the most important part. My impressions of all this, since you weren't here to make your own.

What I think? What I honestly think? Is that the Ohm are exactly as bad as the Daligig say they are. They're monsters, they destroyed a planet without a thought, murdered the innocent, and it's not hard to believe they did that to all of our own at all.

I also think when you look the Daligig in the eye, it's like having one of the Reach look back at you. It doesn't jive. The ship is an old prison ship, with the Warden personality now in charge because of the space pirates? Yeah, sure, unless it's really because she's dealing out harsh military punishments at their command to keep us all in line. That kid, Aang, who was awake before all the rest of us, claimed he was experimented on until Daligig Command intervened and chastised the original captain. But was that because it was wrong, and they realized the original Captain was committing atrocities on the conscripts, or because they wanted a demi-god guy to work with them more cooperatively?

I can't help but feel that even if they legitimately saved us, even if the Ohm are as bad as they seem, that we're being used. I have no proof yet, but it means someone has to search for the truth, to either prove or disprove it. If it's not me, I can't tell you that it should be you, but I can say that someone has to, or the crew could be in a lot of trouble. It's better to be paranoid and find out you're wrong, than to not be paranoid and not find out what you need to until its too late.

If you're looking for good news, you're not going to find it here. It gets worse.

Oh, he was just like the bluebird of happiness here, wasn't he.

The Daligig were telling the truth about the scarab. Cargn--if he's still awake--seems to know more about the whole situation than he's willing to tell, and he basically confirmed it, but that's not the worst of it.

During the fight on Zokez, I was on the ship helping with the counter-hacking stuff. The scarab, for some reason, was able to hook into the Ohm's communications, and even if we couldn't interpret them, he was a good mimic, able to throw a lot of it right back at them, confuse them.

They tried to talk to us. They tried to pull us into their...whatever it is. Their hivemind, maybe? Like they were welcoming Khaji--us--home. If they hadn't made a retreat just then, I'm not sure what would have happened.

If you're me, and you have the scarab, I don't know if your scarab is the same, but mine...I think it's true that mine might have been seeded to our world by the Ohm, and then taken and reprogrammed by the Reach. If that's the case, then it means it could be both a boon and a liability. It's possible the scarab can be used to access their systems, and given that was definitely handy with the Reach.

But it was horrifying, that moment right before they let us go. It felt like who we were as...as us, as people, was slipping away. They might be capable of triggering what the scarab was supposed to be for on Earth, making themselves an infiltrator on the ship. If they'd done it, I'm not sure we could've blocked them and stopped it.

If your scarab is the same, you have to be careful. I know it doesn't tell you much that I was scared, but Khaji was absolutely terrified after that, because it was like they were trying to wipe all that he was clean, so that all that was left was something that was a part of them.

The crew can't be trusted with this. I asked around for people to help me with mental control, just using the excuse that there were some kinks from me and Khaji's mental hookup.

But there have been other symbiotes on board that...well, weren't exactly symbiotic. The Yeerks, Shiva...

People have been mind controlled and even killed thanks to parasites on the ship. I was pretty open about Khaji but if they find out that the Ohm could possibly control us? I'm not sure how they'd react. They're good people, but sometimes they don't always work the best as a team, and sometimes they get scared and reactive.

So far, Leon Kennedy, the captain knows. So does Master Chief. Luis Sera, in the Science Department knows, too. He was doing research on the scarab, trying to find out more about it to try to figure out ways to block the Ohm.

You can trust them.

Then of course, there's Paco, too.

That's it, though. They're the only ones on the ship who know. You might want to keep it that way, at least until you and Khaji Da know more.
