And When the Sky Was Opened [open]
First, he had to hit Engineering to talk to this Billy fellow--and cross his fingers and hope for the best. This wasn't Metrocity, he hadn't saved the day here and worked for the peoples' trust, and while he'd read that Constitution about people not being punished for past crimes that didn't necessarily mean there wouldn't be attitudes of distrust and the like.
There was, of course, the option of lying about his former villainhood, but good guys weren't supposed to do that, right? And with Roxanne not remembering that he'd reformed, all he'd need was for her to mention he was a villain, and then he'd have to explain the whole thing, and then it would get all messy.
It was better people knew ahead of time. It was better that got their judging...thing out of the way ahead of time, especially if he was trying to work under them.
So off to Engineering he went. Now that he was fairly certain he didn't have anyone to intimidate, he wasn't wearing his cape or the collar, hoping to look as normal as possible.
Of course, on the way there, and afterward, he nosed around into many a place on the ship to look around, often blurting out "Incredible!" "Magnificent!" "Do you see that? That is the coolest thing I've ever seen!" and other such exclamations at the wonders he saw. The ship was a beaut, a techno-organic masterpiece!
[ooc: You can catch him poking around just about anywhere on the ship, although his jaunt to Engineering comes first chronologically. Just specify where he ran into your guy.]</font

"What seems to be the problem? If you need help reading the map..." His gaze drifts over Megamind, pausing on his head. That is one nice, big head. "...I don't think that'll be the problem here, though." Please don't tell him he just walked into a domestic dispute.

"I am new here and I just find it very, very unnerving the way everyone just wanders around. I mean, how many people just wander off into the City and, and die before anyone finds them?" What a waste, what a terrible waste if these people were really the last.
"And Megamind and I had - a tense first meeting. That's all. Sorry to bring you into it." She quirks an eyebrow at the tall blue alien. "No hard feelings?"
no subject
Okay, he's just being a jerk, but you know, he doesn't really care as long as he's not in jail.

"Ah, sorry." He holds a hand out to Megamind, beaming again. "I'm Apollo, of the Authority. You might have heard of us, but the way things have been going... I wouldn't be surprised if you hadn't."
no subject
"I spoke to Kaylee, she said I should speak to her, Angie or Billy for orientation?"
no subject
As for the musclehead.
"As for you, there's nothing going on that needs your...authority to resolve, not that you likely have any authority here."
no subject
His smile doesn't even fade as he withdraws his hand. "We're just being friendly here, Megamind." He cocks his head. "As it stands, I'm a member of Security on this ship. I certainly hope you're not a gambling man."
no subject
She gave Megamind a nod of approval - at least he was trying to get fit in, really, isn't that what they all wanted? - and a warmer smile to Apollo. "Thank you, sir. I'll wait for Angie, then."
no subject
So carry on and move along.
And stop smiling like that.
It was almost...predatory.

He turns, revealing the many bullet holes on the back of his uniform, and ducks through the door, heading on out.
...A few seconds later, he comes back the other way. "Pod Chambers are over thataway. Got my self turned around." Toodles.

"And Megamind - if you were as tactful as you are dramatic, you'd own this ship by now." She could tell he would never like her; well, that was normal. Pity: he did have very nice skin, blue with just a hint of ultraviolet. And his eyes were gorgeous.
Nice and crunchy, too, probably.

"And did you see that smile? It was like having a conversation with a shark."
no subject
"And I like people who smile," she added.

"My species can be pretty stupid that way, I'll admit. Very speciesist. I'm sure you have a perfectly nice smile in you somewhere."

The corners of her mouth drew down for a moment. "I hope they aren't expecting me to - no, of course not, not enough genetic variation. If I had my hair cut to a decent length," she ran her fingers through it, watching it flop every which way over her forehead, "you'd see a lot of muscle mass and tendon attachments on the back of the skull - easiest way to spot us."
"I'm afraid that I don't recognize your species either."

With a grunt, he shoved a piece of equipment out of the way to get a closer look at something.
"--that I'm likely the last of them."
There wasn't a whole lot of emotion or regret in his voice, though. Maybe when he was younger, there would have been, but being the last of your kind was something you came to grips with rather early on, or you never came to grips with it at all. Most of his issues had to do with not fitting in on Earth, of course, but he'd never really spent much time ruing his status as the last of the whatevers--even if he had spared a regret or two towards his dead parents now and again.

She eyed Megamind. He certainly seemed to be getting along here better than she was - of course, he also was a lot more willing to manhandle the ship's equipment. As for herself, the equipment looked much too able to manhandle - shiphandle? - back, for her to risk it.
"I thought you were related to that red-haired woman, I didn't catch her name. You were talking to her on the Obs Deck? She and I met down in the pod caverns." They certainly looked like they had been raised under the same gravity field.
no subject
"As for who I think you're referring to, a redhead? Really? She's a brunette, though she could maybe pass for auburn--there are some absolutely lovely copper tones to her hair," he said, making it quite clear he was someone that paid attention to things like how her hair caught the light. "But a redhead? Not quite."
A pause.
"And how in the world would we be related? I'm not even the same species!"
no subject
Anwei looked at Megamind. "I think I might be seeing a slightly different color spectrum than you do." Another thing there hadn't happened when she got on board: a color orientation. 'In case of emergency, all exit paths will turn red, and red is this color on this ship.' Necessary, for mixed crews. "And maybe that last phrase didn't translate quite right? I meant - relating?" She hooked her little fingers together, thumbs out, in a clearly symbolic gesture. "Friends?"

It seemed like she was still willing to let him into her life, but the yearning in his voice made it sound like he wanted much more than just tolerance.
