Meet N' Greet

Part of the crew might be gone, but life on the ship goes on. In fact, new people have woken up and, eventually, they've been spat out into the mess hall.

Maybe it's better to introduce them to some of the worst aspects of ship life first, right?

Anyway, the word is out that there's new people, and someone should probably go say hello. Before the n00bs mistake the glop for crew.

"More often than not, when one is told they will accomplish a great deed and not told exactly how they will, it is because they will be doing something they don't want to do. Usually that's being a human sacrifice to some god," Pirogoeth said simply.

"Essentially, I was the queen. Kuith was the kingdom I am hail from."

"...that sorta thing happen a lot wherever you're from?"

Kingdoms, and queens - let alone human sacrifices and gods? Fairy tale stuff. But hell, guess the girl looked like she'd fit into a fairy tale, and here he was sitting in a ship made out of flesh having woken up not hours before in a pod filled with goo. By this point, he'd have accepted almost anything. "Well then. I feel like I should be callin' you 'Your Highness' or somethin' like that, huh?"

"Three times from personal experience. Twice for me, once for Largo being in the role," Pirogoeth said simply. A few fire spells took care of the problem though.

"Do not call me as such. I pointed out it was former for a reason," Pirogoeth said firmly.

Well, damn. Must be a crazy sorta place she came from. "Well, you seem to have gotten through that just fine. All's well that ends well, or somethin' like that."

At her vehement denial, though, Jim held up his hands in appeasement. "Meant no offense - won't happen again, darlin'."

"We did. Usually cultists are not hard to handle," Pirogoeth commented with a slight nod.

"...my apologies. I over reacted a bit too much, but since thou appears to favor nicknames, I wanted to be sure I was clear," she said, relaxing just a bit.

"Nah, I guess they wouldn't be. Too much time prayin' and chantin' and stuff like that." Jim shook his head. "Don't worry about it, kid. It'll take more than that to ruffle my feathers... but if the nicknames thing bugs you, just say the word."

"They also have the undying belief their god will protect them from harm. They are not ready to defend themselves until it is too late to stop anyone who can truly fight," she said with a slight shrug.

"I often find nicknames are annoying," she said rather bluntly. It would be nice if he meant it about stopping nicknames if they bugged her. Most people who used them around her didn't. "I am also twenty-three," she added. Another clarification she was used to making. It was often mistaken she was younger than she really was.

He chuckled. "Lady Luck helps though who start helpin' themselves. Way the world turns." Still, she didn't look much like a fighter. Too slight. Of course, that's what guns were for, right?

"Well, now. If you mind 'em so much, then that'll be that. It's a habit of mine - just remind me if I slip up every now and then, all right?" Jim frowned for a moment. "You said your name was Piragoess, didn't ya?" Well, he was close.

Pirogoeth had to ponder that. "I believe it may be the Lady of Chaos most of the time," she said. At least with the amount of destruction Largo caused, one would think it'd be more misfortune for those around them then their luck.

"An effort on thy part is more than mine usual expectations. And tis Pirogoeth."

Jim almost had to blink. He hadn't expected her to take his 'Lady Luck' comment literally. "Lady of Chaos? Sounds real friendly." Actually, it almost sounded like Kerrigan. ...but he had no reason to think of her right now.

"Pirogoeth, right. Gotta say, it's an interesting name. Then again, I'd guess 'Jim' might not be all that common wherever you're from." He tilted her head to the side, sizing her up. "I'd have never guessed you were twenty-three, to be honest. You look younger 'n that."

"Not necessarily unfriendly, but she hates things to be boring. Which is usually bad for others," Pirogoeth commented. Maybe she survived because Largo was such an easy medium?

"I have not meant anyone simply known as Jim, though there have been a few with Jim as part of the name. Pirogoeth is rather rare even in my world," Pirogoeth explained. Then again, it was an odd thing when she thought about it. There was no 'common' name since...she can't remember ever hearing about people having the same name. "I am aware. That is why I told thou mine age to avoid being treated as a maiden to have only just reached adulthood."

"Happiness at the misfortune of others. Cute. Still, you seem like the type of gal who can take care of herself."

He leaned back, putting his hands behind his head. "Twenty-three and already a queen? Must've been tough."

"I am," Pirogoeth said simply. Well, she could.

"Nothing more than usual. Most kingdoms have it so the heir take over at age between sixteen and twenty and Kuith is very careful to make sure all potential heirs have the tools to rule. There are times that are hard and there are times where I can become bored out of mine mind," she said, starting to smile just a bit. She was always fond of Kuith and it was nice to think of the happier times there.

Hey, it was nice to see someone smiling around here. "Sounds like you're doin' okay for yourself, then." He paused. "Homesick any?"

"Very homesick," Pirogoeth said. She had been for well over a year now.

"...I'm sorry to hear that, darlin'..." he held up his hands in apology. "My mistake: Pirogoeth. I know the feeling. It can get tiresome, bein' far away from home."

"That it does, but I have been away a while. I have gotten used to the feeling," Pirogoeth said, looking just a bit more than normally distant as she answered.

Jim reaches down to his side... and then frowns, remembering that he doesn't have his flask on him. "How long's it been?"

"About...a year and a half by now. Tis hard to keep track while traveling," Pirogoeth answered.

"You ain't kiddin'." He leans back in the chair, putting his feet up on the table. "Don't think any of us expected to end up here."

"I do hope no one is used to being kidnapped by a talking creature that works as a vessel. I would think such a life would be difficult," Pirogoeth commented.

For a moment, Jim just looks at her, at how earnestly she said that... and then he laughs, honestly and good-natured. "Ain't that the truth. One time feels like one too many."

"It is," Pirogoeth agreed, just looking a bit amused. It was quite a bit more insane than her usual life.

"Well, at any rate, it's good to know that there're some other folks here who seem to have a good head on their shoulders." He shakes his head. "Some sanity left in an insane world."

"After dealing with too much insanity, one just accepts it so they do not go insane themselves," Pirogoeth said. Or bury it deep, deep, deep in her soul if it was a rather painful insanity.
