Meet N' Greet

Part of the crew might be gone, but life on the ship goes on. In fact, new people have woken up and, eventually, they've been spat out into the mess hall.

Maybe it's better to introduce them to some of the worst aspects of ship life first, right?

Anyway, the word is out that there's new people, and someone should probably go say hello. Before the n00bs mistake the glop for crew.

Pirogoeth looks at Tex, staring for a few long moments. The concept of spirits were far from beyond her, but the...shell of this one was odd. Like armor.

Well, as long as he didn't try to possess her, she shouldn't be completely rude. Especially if she might be stuck here a while. "I don't scream," she said calmly. Maybe shout, depending on the occasion. "This place is not the sort of place I'm familiar with."

[identity profile] domeanthings.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Tex pauses to peer at her for a moment. "...Maybe I'm a cynic, but I have a feeling that you're going to be proven wrong about the screaming thing eventually."

Her attention goes back to the rest of the cafeteria as she shrugs. "It's not the kind of place I'm familiar with, and I've seen some weird crap."

[identity profile] lastofkuith.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't scream. Shout, perhaps, but the occasion is rare," Pirogoeth said, looking around the mess hall.

"I imagine not many are familiar with the idea of serving a creature one can live inside. I am still trying to ponder a way how mine kidnapping was done without my realization," she added and looked at Tex. "Do thou remember thee's?"

[identity profile] domeanthings.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Tex went back to staring at Pirogoeth once the 'thous' and 'thees' showed up. "Where the hell did Stacy steal you from?" The question gets a headshake. "Nah. Last thing I remember, the ship I was on was exploding."

[identity profile] lastofkuith.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
"From a world called many call 'The Endgames.' No one knows why it was given that name, simply what it has been called," Pirogoeth explained. "An earthquake had started from a sudden release of high magical energy." An exploding ship was not a foreign concept to her.

Despite her being the one with fire magic, Largo had a tendency to make things explode.

[identity profile] domeanthings.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, that's a cheery name. So there was an earthquake, then you were here? I wonder if there's anything everybody has in common. Something that happened before they showed up, maybe..."

[identity profile] lastofkuith.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
"An explosion, an earthquake. Perhaps if everyone was brought at the time of immediate disaster, it may link to how we are brought here," Pirogoeth said, looking more thoughtful now. It wasn't a big change in expression, but it was a change.

[identity profile] domeanthings.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Time to ask more people," she says with a shrug, then mutters, "Disaster's probably the only thing that could get Grif's ass moving, anyway."

[identity profile] lastofkuith.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
To ask people. She couldn't just have Largo go demanding answers this time. "I suppose it is," Pirogoeth said, standing up. She'd have to go ask around herself.

She looked at Tex. "Why do you appear as a spirit, before that?" She asked. If this one was already dead,, then at least this couldn't be an afterlife.

[identity profile] domeanthings.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
Tex shrugged a little again. "Turns out I'm an AI. Kind of a big surprise, since we'd been going with the ghost idea. I'm dealing."

Her arms cross, her posture going annoyed. "It's the no body thing that pisses me off."

[identity profile] lastofkuith.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
"An...AI?" Pirogoeth asked, looking just a bit confused.

[identity profile] domeanthings.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Artificial Intelligence. I'm a computer person." She paused. "...And you probably have no idea what that is." If the 'thees' and 'thous' were anything to go by...

[identity profile] lastofkuith.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
"I am afraid I do not have the slightest clue except you are a being made by man that is intelligent," Pirogoeth replied.

[identity profile] domeanthings.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Actually? That works," Tex says nodding. "Better than how I was gonna explain it."

[identity profile] lastofkuith.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Are you still a puppet to thy creator's will? And what is this computer?" Pirogoeth asked. First, make sure the made being wasn't going to go suddenly psycho. Then curiosity.

[identity profile] domeanthings.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
Tex stiffens as she glances to Pirogoeth, her body language giving the distinct feeling impression of glaring. "I'm nobody's puppet, and I've never been anybody's puppet," she growls.

After a moment, she responds to the second question. "It's a machine. A box people use to figure things out."

[identity profile] lastofkuith.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Good," Pirogoeth said. In fact, the anger seemed a good sign to her. It was easy to have a puppet say they weren't and shrug it off. Anger meant that there was hostility for anyone who would think to try.

"A...machine? That can create a being?"

[identity profile] domeanthings.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Most computers aren't used for AIs-they're just something people use. A tool."

[identity profile] lastofkuith.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Still, most machines are not beyond just basic angles and working with gravity and momentum," Pirogoeth commented. "Nothing is near the level to create."

[identity profile] domeanthings.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
Tex jsut shrugs. "We don't have magic where I'm from. So we make up for it."

[identity profile] lastofkuith.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
"No magic?" Pirogoeth said. "Tis...almost difficult to imagine."

[identity profile] domeanthings.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
"And I don't really want to imagine anybody I know throwing magic around. They're bad enough with just guns."

[identity profile] lastofkuith.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Gun?" So many words Pirogoeth did not know or understand. It seems this would be a theme in this place.

[identity profile] domeanthings.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
"...No guns either, huh? Think of a hollow stick. That puts holes in whatever's pissing you off at the moment."

[identity profile] lastofkuith.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Sounds the same as magic," Pirogoeth commented. "Just a stick is added."
