Meet N' Greet

Part of the crew might be gone, but life on the ship goes on. In fact, new people have woken up and, eventually, they've been spat out into the mess hall.

Maybe it's better to introduce them to some of the worst aspects of ship life first, right?

Anyway, the word is out that there's new people, and someone should probably go say hello. Before the n00bs mistake the glop for crew.

Oh goodness. Xander, you've made a friend for life. That spot. His back leg starts kicking against the ground comically. Love, so much love.

Bandit has an immunity to baby talk; it comes with the job, plus it generally means 'I like you and don't want to kill you', which is a plus. It's not his favorite, but it's not bad either. IS GUD HAVE FRIEND. WHAT XANDER-BOSS HOME LIKE?

Xander chuckled and kept scratching that spot a bit longer. His arm was going to get tired though and switching to petting along Bandit's back.

He then wondered, hard to explain hellmouth and Slayers to a dog. "Uh, lots of bad things, but lots of good people. We had a large uh pack."

Kick kick kick. Wag wag wag. IS GUD BOSS. IS GUD. GUD SCRATCH.

He listens to Xander's words--it's hard with so many delicious scratches going on--and nods. IS GUD HAVE BIG TEAM. MAKE EASY SOLVE PROBLEM. ALSO NOT LONELY. XANDER-BOSS IS LEADER 4 BIG TEAM?

Try him, Xander. Bandit understands a lot more than he can actually express. He'll get a lot of it, just keep it simple.

"You're welcome, buddy," Xander then paused, figuring how to explain.

"Uh, not me, that's Buffy being the big leader and head honcho. I was a leader of a smaller team under the big one." Not alpha-alpha, maybe a beta really.

'BUFFY' IS LEADER OF XANDER-BOSS? IS GUD LEADER? He'll still respect Xander even if he wasn't on the very top of the food chain. He likes organizational models. It helps him rank people in his head, which is altogether beneficial for his emotional and mental well-being. BOSS SAY: BAD THING. WHAT BAD THING HAPPEN?

Xander nodded, switching to scratching and petting Bandit's head around the antenna.

"Really bad things. Uh vampires, demons. Big monsters. We've fought them several times."

He leans against Xander's hand. Careful Xander, he'll never want it to stop.

'VAMPIRE' = HUMAN-BAT ? He asks, requesting confirmation. 'DEMON' ?WORD? HARD 2 FIGHT ? XANDER-BOSS STRONG.

"Sort of? More human-bat and demon. Demons are monsters. Lots of claws and teeth sometimes. Least the bad ones are, and there's a lot of bad ones. Yeah they can be hard, but taken down some myself." He's pretty proud of himself for that, and he continued to pet the dog, patting his head and back gently at times before lowering his hand finally. The petting machine's tired, Bandit.

He can't say he was fond of the head-patting, but the scratches were nice. C'mon, Xander. Find the strength. You have tough, manly arms. Look into these soulful puppy eyes.
