IIIIIIII love a parade~

Somewhere along the way, Beastboy had lost track of time on board Stacy but he had been shocked to realize what day it would have been back home. After a moment of disappointment a thought struck him and he rushed to the Sensoriums.

The world exploded in noise and sound as New York City appeared in front of him. Confetti and cheers, clowns and music, massive balloons and floats drifting through the buildings as millions of people were recreated by the Sensoriums to re-enact the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Of coarse being Beastboy's memories to fuel this scene the floats, musical number and so on were all from previous years, and some of the balloons and floats had a distinctly Beastboy theme to them.

Like the giant Green Turkey Float holding a sign that suggested trying Tofurkey.

And a Float of Titan's Tower with big headed mascot versions of the Titans waving at the crowd.

Even a massive Captain Carrot Balloon drifted through the air as Beastboy cheered and watched with a twinkle in his eyes. It was so real, the magic of the Sensoriums had brought him somewhere he'd only ever seen on T.V.

And if anyone were to wander in they'd be able to enjoy the show as well.

He just has the worst timing, doesn't he? Tavros is a bit embarrassed to have once again rolled in and interrupted someone's sensorium trip, but... this elaborate Earth celebration is fascinating. Gigantic balloons and crowds of people in costumes, and... wait, is this New York City again? Really? He's starting to wonder if Earth has other locations.

He brushes confetti out of his bristly patch of hair and stares openmouthed at all the crazy festivities.

[identity profile] alterniantaurus.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Tavros looks a bit nervous at the gigantic green creature trundling his way and presses fingers to temples, reaching out psychically to Beastboy. He immediately recoils -- the bond failed, he can't commune with or control sentient beings -- and rubs his forehead.

And then the elephant pokes him. Too late it occurs to him that he's in the sensoriums and could have escaped without using any powers.

He stares up at the alien creature with a mixture of nervousness and curiosity.

"Umm... hi?"

[identity profile] alterniantaurus.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh! You're a..."

A what? Tavros admittedly has no clue. He stares at Beastboy in surprise for a moment, reaches out tentatively, withdraws his hand, then changes his mind and shyly accepts the noisemaker.

"Thanks. Uh, happy Thanksgiving to you, too. I think. Sorry, I thought, you were an animal for a minute there."

[identity profile] alterniantaurus.livejournal.com 2010-11-26 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, I guess that's obvious, but, um, I meant more like, you weren't a real animal. Uh, more like you're a, sentient shapeshifter." This wasn't going as well as Tavros had hoped. He fiddles nervously with the party favor in his hand. "I don't think I've seen anyone of your species before..."

He pauses to appreciate the float. It is a totally sweet party.

The first thing Kang noticed was how loud it was. And crowded. Everywhere he looked, there were humans: young, old, and of even some ethnicities he'd never seen before. The air was chilly, but not cold enough to be a problem, especially with him being right in the middle of the crowd.

A few of the buildings, Kang recognized from the very few movies and pictures he'd seen that featured New York City, and the two or three that were actually on Stacy. So this was what an entire city of skyscrapers looked like in person.

Curious, he watched the parade, none of the Sensorium-created people paying him any attention despite the fact that he stood out like a sore thumb.

Oh, Kang recognized this kid from around the ship. At least, he assumed he was a kid. Out of politeness, he clapped, but he didn't move from where he was; he knew that more than likely, he'd already been spotted.
governorkang: (Having fun)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-11-26 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"It was interesting," Kang answered. The kid reminded him of an elf, with the pointed ears, but he smelled human. "Were you a performer, on your world? What is this parade in celebration of?"

She was going to the Sensoriums to garden, which is how she works out issues that can't be solved by huddling in the Media Library with Marquez. Poking her head in, she hears enough noise and sees enough color that she can't resist looking further.

Is it that time of year already? Eva's surprised and a little concerned that she didn't realize it. Then again, other things have been on her mind.

She looks around, trying to figure out who in the crowd is the mind behind this.

[identity profile] vissernone.livejournal.com 2010-11-26 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's unexpected. That dinosaur doesn't look like a float. "Saving Earth one vegetarian convert at a time, kid?"

[identity profile] vissernone.livejournal.com 2010-11-27 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
That's never stopped some people Eva knows, but she laughs anyway. "So I take it you're a proponent of Tofurkey."

Starfire is going to gape at her balloon-self's giant head. It's sweet, almost, and reminiscent of a certain Earth festival she vaguely recalled.

"It is the day of thanks-giving once more?" Hi, Beast Boy. Have your friend watching the parade, wondering to herself how a ship-version of such an event would be different.

[identity profile] boundlesslight.livejournal.com 2010-11-27 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Beast Boy," she smiled easily, watching the floats pass. "It is awe-inspiring, yes."

Starfire was quite for a moment, reliving those memories from home, before asking her question. "I wonder, what would floats of our own creation look like?"

As she thought, a large and fuzzy creature from Tamaran appeared in all its floating balloon glory. "Perhaps we can share our thanks with everyone."
starbolts: (That is all we can ask for :))

"It is a flarnorp," Starfire introduced, a smile on her face. "And I completely agree. There is traditionally a feast, yes? We could relocate the nutrition that Stacy provides and transfigure it into our native foods. I believe everyone would appreciate the opportunity."
