Julian raised an eyebrow at Michael, then at the rifle. A flatscan with a gun, not exactly high on his list of favorite sights.

"The flyboy. Looks like you won't be completely useless to me on the ground."
shootingblancs: (Way too awesome for you)

He grinned. "More useful than you'd probably be in a dogfight." There was no malice in his tone, just the cocksure confidence of a pilot.

"I thought you all might be happy to have someone watching your backs for the big picture."

There was a 'pfft' noise from Julian. "I could fly circles around whatever machine you got." The tk was good for that much. But all of this posturing was beside the point.

"So I guess you intend to bring up the rear?"

Though that also brought up the point that, outside of Katara, he really hadn't dealt with the rest of this team. Isn't that just awesome?

"Have fun breathing in space," Michael chuckled, before reaching back to tap the rifle. "Rated up to two klicks with this. More with some other hardware, but it's not around at the moment, so no use wishing it were."

"Makes the most sense for me to watch your backs."

"It's really not that hard once you get the hang of it," he mentioned, in regards to breathing in space. Once you learn how to break down carbon-dioxide into breathable oxygen without really thinking about it, you're set.

"So, guy who stays in the back and shoots things..." Okay, he could work with that. "You'll also be the guy in charge of babysitting the nerds. Think you can handle that?"

"The technical term is 'sniper,'" he corrected, adjusting his glasses with one hand. "If that's my job, I'll do it, but this gun isn't really meant for short-range combat. If any of them breach your line, we might be in trouble."
