Ben had heard the announcement, but ignored it anyhow. He had the gut feeling that whatever happened there, he'd hear from Matt anyhow. Instead, he made his way to medbay where he knew Nura was resting, albeit in a coma.

He contacted Gwen and Devlin, and let them know at least not to worry and try to keep Devlin away from Punishment. As he sat down in the bedside, he sighed. "Things really aren't looking up huh mom?" he said to Nura in a low tone.

Nura still hadn't moved since she'd first been placed on the bed. And according to the monitors around her, she'd made little progress as well. But she still looked incredibly peaceful in her state. Peaceful...and unmoving.

Gwen made her way to the medbay after Ben's announcement, knowing that Devlin was safe where he was at for now. From what it sounded like, Ben could actually need her more. While it wasn't rare, it hadn't happened quite as much lately.

"Hey Gwen," said Ben, looking up at Gwen's entry. "Is Devlin, y'know, at the bus?"

His hand was clasped around Nura's lightly, hoping she would wake soon.

"...Yeah." Gwen replied, placing a hand on her cousin's shoulder and squeezing it lightly. "How are you holding up?"

"Nothing a Mr. Smoothie can't cure," admitted Ben as he gazed down on Nura's still form.

It was a half-hearted lie. He was worried, scared even. But he hadn't admitted his feelings very well for years, ever since he put on the watch.

"It should have been me laying there..."

"Normally, it is. Sometimes, it's me." Another gentle squeeze to Ben's shoulder.

"But we always find a way, don't we? We'll find a way now, too." She had to tell herself that, had to be the one he could lean on.

He chuckled mirthlessly at Gwen's admission. They had all taken beatings they rightfully shouldn't have walked away from in the past. Why would now be any different?

"Yeah, I guess you're right. It's just..." Ben sighed. "Remember when the Omnitrix was set to explode in three days? And... well, I thought you died? I can't seem to get that out of my head right now. I know Devlin couldn't have seriously mangled mom, but but that potential was THERE. And it scares me that I'm always one step behind things here. Instead of being atop them."

Ben pursed his lips together. "Sorry. You really don't need my baggage right now Gwen..."

Gwen pulled Ben into a hug, shaking her head almost immmediately.

"That's when I need your baggage the most, Ben - so I can remind you about all the GOOD things you've done, even with everything that's happened. If you're a step behind, we'll just get back on track - just like with Grandpa Max.

"If the potential was there, then you'll have the potential to do what's right if that happens."

Ben hugged back, unafraid of anyone who would see him display this rare affection towards his cousin. Sure they fought a lot and they knew each other incredibly well. She had always been there for him and he rest his head against her shoulder.

"Yeah, together. We'll endure, learn, and do all of that stuff. And not just us, there's May, Devlin, Hikari, Nura, everyone. Our family keeps growing and it's not just blood relations, but people unified as one to help one another." He laughed softly. "Now if mom'll wake up it would be perfect..."

Someone must have heard Ben's wish, because the the machines that showed Nura's life signs began to hum with positivity. The lines became more pointed, and brighter.

Ben was intimately familiar with monitors, especially heart and health monitors having seen many in his time, and his attention was immediately drawn to Nura. "She's coming around! Gwen! Can you help her wake up?"

Gwen eyed Ben with a look of surprise. "Are you sure, Ben? I'm not sure if my powers can work like that...!" For the most, she'd used them in different situations for different reasons - attacking and defending, but actually helping someone wake up...?

The monitors were making noise and the heart monitor was going on and on and on and on...

"You've done some amazing things before. I trust you Gwen." said Ben firmly. "Trust that you can do it. You've cast spells, you teleport us, you rip holes in dimensions! You can do it."

"...Okay." Gwen took a breath, released it and concentrated solely on Nura, mana covering both her hands at the same time.

"Ben knows you a lot better than I do; he trusts you...!" she thought while the glow of mana around her hands got steadily brighter. "...and if Ben trusts you, then so do I! Come back to the people who love you and care about you...we'll be here for you if you need it! Fight, just like Ben would fight!"

At Nura's sides, her fingers twitched, and her head turned with a low "mmmm" sound coming from her throat. The monitors went from positivity, to definite positive...as Nura's eyes opened.
