Cruising for a bruising

Big Zero had mostly kept to herself. She was busy plotting certain people's demise and reprogramming. A big part of dropping off the radar was simply for safety reasons. But when she went out she spent time in the Special Weapons Lab working on, well, things that weren't weapons. She wasn't that stupid. If she didn't give them a good reason, they couldn't refuse a member of the crew. Certainly not someone as productive as she was.

So with all the confidence of someone with antisocial/narcissist personality disorder, she strolled into the lab and quickly started work on Egghead mark II. Frankly, it was a lot harder building the damn thing from scratch.

[[OOC: Big Zero post, standard warnings apply. Filthy language, Neo Nazi. Also she will probably be hitting Punishment this post so threads might have to be bendy timed a little (later ones go earlier). My tags will be slow as I have one paper to seriously work on starting tomorrow and I'm running in to pain issues today. Agh sorry for tl;dr]]

"If her death is my fault, why are you now blaming it on her?"

Billy narrowed his eyes, deliberately setting his work down. Bingo---reaction time.

"You didn't see everything she did for us here. She built weapons with us, fought in the trenches with us, encouraged us. But morale and cooperation are just human weaknesses to you, aren't they?"

"I will never be thankful for the death of a friend."

Billy straightened his shoulders, murming his next few words.

"She knew very well what she was doing, as she had demonstrated in the past. Given a few more seconds, she would have deactivated it and survived. She died because I activated the shield disabler too soon, causing Shiva to hit the switch."

And that hurt like hell. Tears burned his eyes as he raised his voice, one of the rarest sorts of occasions in his life. "If her life was as worthless as you say, this wouldn't hurt at all! Cassie Lang had a heart of gold. She knew what it meant to be a hero, perhaps better than most of us. Her laugh, her smile...working with her was a joy, which is something I can assure you that will never be true for you!"

They couldn't stay in this space like this. One of them had to go, but he sure couldn't leave the room without calling someone else to watch her. And did he really want to subject them to that?

The rage wasn't getting any better.

"If life were to mean so little to us, why would we even go on fighting? Why not just let the Ohm destroy everything---we don't care about anyone else's suffering, so why not just let them die?"

No, no. That would never be acceptable to him.

Billy approached her, looking defiant. "If you're going to have such callous disregard for the crew and our mission, please leave." It wasn't a request.

"That's a lie! I've seen the evidence of her hard work, and if by 'nothing' you mean repeatedly damaging crew cohesion with your complete contempt for sociability then I suppose you would be correct."

Billy seethed, trying his hardest to restrain himself. Martial arts is not for starting fights, especially not in here, and he'd be pulverized anyway.

Would that have been true a year ago? Six months ago? Of course. But personally, and on behalf of all his friends who'd been hurt by her, he'd had more than he could take.

Billy knew she would probably severely injure him, but this was a risk he had to take.

He lowered himself just slightly, almost as if cowering in fear. A frightened look. Then defiant.

Billy aimed for a decisive but non-injuring shove.

Owww, broken nose, He crouched into a block, hoping to counter and defend long enough for Stacy to intervene---did her tentacles work in here?

If not, he'd have to hope he survived the beatdown and that the help he signaled with a quick ring-twist arrived.

In the blink of an eye, one of Stacy's tendrils zoomed out from the ceiling, slamming Big Zero into a nearby wall as it wrapped around her, using much more force than it usually did when punishing crew members for gaining Violations.

||Big Zero,|| Stacy's "warden" personality said, even colder and more emotionless than normal, ||You have acquired 15 Violations. As a result of your repeated ignorance of ship rules, you will now be given Punishment.||

With that, Stacy unceremoniously drags her towards the door to the hallways, intent on making her way to the Obs Deck.
