Pocket Full Of Desu (Open)

Rein was feeling a little down and cramped. So what she liked to do other than eat during times of stress was to play music.

Heading to the sensoriums, she pulled up a garage band as she picked up a guitar and strummed it after sizing up. It was a good sound and she strummed it experimentally.

"Mmm, seems good to me," remarked Rein as the other instruments started to pick up a little and she strummed it, summoning a microphone.

And here she started to play, just belting out lyrics. There was little she didn't know about and her musical talent was good enough that she didn't sound terrible playing the song.

"Clothing?" Oh, that was just....SWEET. If there was a way she could get her costume mended, even updated? That would kick ass.

"That sounds good," she said. "Um, about this clothing thing...does that include costumes?"

"Yep," said Rein. "I also make rudimentary devices too for armor. They're flexible at best and provide a lot of defense. Though I may have to update them for mass driven weaponry now."

"I see," Hit Girl said, and now was the part where she had to see what she could afford. "And how much do you charge for this? What do we give you in return?"

Ah, the note of price and repaying for her efforts. "I don't charge anything actually," admitted Rein. "It's a store in all but name really. All I ask for is time and patience, since my specialty lays in crafting devices, powered by magic. To adapt them to ambient sources around the person takes time and effort, and I'd just really ask for cooperation on their part to make sure it's 100% suited for the person."

She smiled at that. "At least, come to my store often and get something made up in between? That'll be good enough for me."

That was weird, beyond weird, to ask for so little, especially if these things did what she said. Still, if they didn't, what did she care? She got them for free.

Not that she was remotely convinced Rein was lying.

"I think you got a deal," she said. "I still have a lot to do here, and the old suit was getting pretty ragged."

Rein nodded. "It'll take time mind you. I've been working on a prototype mass/energy defense jacket with a rudimentary AI but nothing quite as advanced as the other devices or myself. But I can get it worked out for you as much as possible until I'm confident that it'll work. The power source will be jury-rigged or I'll see if I can't jack some energy from Matt's engine..." she trailed off as Rein rubbed the back of her head.

"Tech talk," she clarified. "But it IS doable. I'll just have to take time on the work and make sure I produce some really clean product for you."

Lying? Rein? Little device had no guile in her body X3

It was talk she didn't completely understand, but there were bit she did. Power sources, for instance, and the ability to actually make the jacket somewhat near the capability of these devices she was talking about.

"If you can..." Hit Girl said, rather humbly, "I'd be grateful. Since I've been on the ship, I know I've been in need of an upgrade. I can't fight the Ohm or other things in this stuff, I'll get crushed."

"Oh boy don't I know the feeling," said Rein with a nod. "I'm not good in a straight fight. I have to work with someone in tandem because my role is support."

She flashed a thumbs up. "But I'll do what I can! I'm already working on a prototype for another person so once I get the bugs out of that, I can get to work on yours. Any specifications on what you'd like on it?"

Rein was already making a mental list.

Hit Girl grinned. "A straight fight is my specialty actually. It's kinda why I'd like a jacket with the abilities you just described."

Specifications? How did she play this? She thought a moment.

"Primary color will be purple with black trim," she said,"With maybe a little gray thrown in for good measure. Oh, and spiked collar at the cuffs. I can't really mess with my overall costume too much. That sounds okay? You can get creative with everything else. You look like you have decent taste."

She was able to create these to begin with, right?

"That's a good starting point then," said Rein with a nod as she mentally jotted all of it down. "I can input the basic overall colors into the device so it'll be easier upon first creation. A jacket while built to a users specifications is actually reliant on user input like a computer. You determine the exact appearance, as well as weaponry which can be tweaked and modified later."

Rein rubbed her chin thoughtfully. "Maybe a belkan-mid shooter device then since your frame suggests a high speed mobile target system. Two guns probably. And with a melee option like Teana." She was already getting ideas as she rubbed her hands together, relishing the challenge. "By the way, do you have a name preference for the jacket? Devices often have names, like my name Reinforce, or others like Raising Heart, Bardiche and so on."

That sounded like a lot of things that she she had no idea what it meant: but she got the jist of most of what she was saying. "Wait, I can also add weapons too? That freaking sweet! Yeah, I can do that!"

She nodded enthusiastically. "That sounds perfect! I use guns anyway,and I'm really good at melee weaponry too. But a name for a jacket?" She thought a moment.

"Yeah. 'Big Daddy.'"

"Big Daddy it is," said Rein, realizing with a start that the name must be important to her. "I'll get to working on the first prototype as soon as I'm done with enjoying myself. I should have a working weapon to show you at least. Maybe a pair of guns that'll lock together and become a melee weapon..." mused Rein.

"That sounds amazing, really," Hit Girl said, sounding more like Mindy then her alter ego. "How can you do all this stiff and not ask for payment though? Most people would, you know? Even the blacksmith girl is asking for something."

"Because I love to create selflessly," answered Rein honestly. "I don't do it for payment or recognition but to see the bright smile on people's faces when they use the precious partners I create for mages or anyone else."

"Creating a device to me, is like fashioning a child of my own. I can't have kids because I'm a living program, but I have family who love and cherish me even though I'm not completely human. But we're all one big family, and making devices is like giving something of myself to people." Rein grinned at that.

That sounded incredibly sappy, the first part. She was from a place that was SO the opposite of what Rein was saying: everything had a price, everything with a consequence. So this was all strange for her to hear, but she sure as hell wasn't going to insult that.

Especially the last part. "Family huh? Yeah, I guess I can understand that. If you're going to really go out on that though, I'll take your for your word. I'm going to be treating that jacket like something special too."

She hadn't called it "Big Daddy" for nothing.

It was sappy on so many levels, but it was how Rein operated. She was definitely the type of girl who was going to be honest in whatever she did. She nodded at Hit Girl's remark of treating the device special. "That's good then," she said. "Sounds like this'll be a good device to make for you."

She nodded. She liked her outfit, it had definitely served well, and had been the last thing she and her father had made together. She had to upgrade: but still keep him in it even if she didn't make it. She would keep that alive, and she would take care of the barrier jacket.

"You better believe it."
