Gonna Be a Man Someday
Title: Gonna Be a Man Someday
Location: Stacy; The Sensoriums
"Never use such power for personal gain. Never escalate a battle unless forced to."
He'd spent many hours in thought after the Time, thinking of what he'd known. How it all had changed and how fast it was changing. When his mind had come onto the thought of Billy and his coming team, Renne had smiled a little.
And he'd gone to the Sensoriums.
The Code echoes within the room like a mantra. Whispered and spoke aloud, Renne moves as he knows against a squadron of creatures that appeared as a crossbreed between a putty and a Drow warrior. The chamber had been designed to resemble one of the many L'Langiniar rock faces that the Mountain People had lived so well on.
He could not be, but he could bring them honour.

"Never use such power for personal gain. Never escalate a battle unless forced to..."

He watches Renne silently, a faint smile on his face. The spirit of their team was alive and well, at least.
no subject
But that isn't here or there.
"...for personal gain. Never escalate a battle unless forced to. Never reveal..."
He lets the stilled hybrid disappear underneath him. A split-second passes with a distant expression on his face. The Drow/putty hybrids vanish, leaving Renne alone on a low rock overhang.
Correction.
"Bee?"
no subject
"You've done really well. But why have you brought our oath into it?"
no subject
Although it's a learned response, it's one that he finds a genuine fluttering in his chest at. Shame lances across his skin aligning itself with that same white-faced fear that reaches beyond the earthen brown kind of fear.
For a good long moment, he can't find his voice.
no subject
"No, Renne, you didn't do anything wrong. I'm...really proud, actually. I was just curious," he says, reaching out and hoping to reassure.
no subject
Right. Deep breath. Ohgods, this is a little bit scary. And embarrassing. But, that's one thing with the Bond -- he can't lie in an ordinary circumstance but this? To reveal a foolish, even somewhat guilty thing?
It's nerve-wracking.
"Rrr-enne trrry...eeh..."
The easy part is to bring honour to the Ranger name. The hard part? Is the hard part for a reason.
no subject
"Try to fight like us? Don't worry about it, it's really all right. We don't have a monopoly on our honor, and I trust you most to do it."
It's that simple to him.
no subject
He's still nervous, understand, but he offers a nuzzling sniff. His feelings though, given the way his skin reacts...aren't as tightly controlled as he'd like at the moment. And things, possibly incriminating things, come through.
....dreamwish...idolise them....the Sage-God and his Heroes....be like, honour, aspire...
no subject
"I'm not sure we'd all live up to your expectations, but I'm actually headed to the Command Center today. I'm calling the new Rangers to confirm that they want to be a team---I'm really nervous about that. I know it needs to be done, and I trust them to do well, but it's not what I'm used to. It never will be."
no subject
That just gets a chirp of confusion. Nono, Billy, in his head it's the other way 'round. Merely associating with a Ranger is...well, it's a big thing to him. And to him, thus, he strives to be as they are.
...as foolish as that may be.
"Bee do goo-d. Is ma-ke R'tel big."
Renne, do not admit that foolish fantasy-dream of yours...
no subject
"I hope so. I'm going to tell them that they don't need to be my friends, just partners, but..."
He catches a trace of thought. "What is it?"
no subject
Blush. Flash of a bit of white. Gulp. His ears drop down and he gets that face of "Six year old has a really, REALLY embarrassing, shuffle-the-feet-and-hide-in-the-floor secret".
no subject
"Huh?" All this secrecy is really confusing him.
"I won't make you tell me if it's that embarrassing. I just wanted to know if there was anything I could do for you."
no subject
Oh, damn it all. With his skin going crazy between blushing and going white, that strange mix of terror, hero-worship and embarrassment drops in tenfold. Its impact leeches his English out and all he can do is sing his response.
...alongside the Sage-God's Children, not as one for it could never be worthy of it, but alongside. With, alongside...foolish, childish dreams of impossible...Reaching, daring to touch a star too holy...
no subject
Billy thinks for a moment, trying to imagine why on earth that would be shameful. That hero worship must be really strong.
"I don't see why that would be a problem. If you want to come in with me, that's fine! Why would I turn you away?"
He sounds almost hurt that Renne would think so lowly of him.
no subject
"It...Rrrr-enne noh wahn-t to..."
And then throw in the human cultural things of "space". It gets a little complicated.
no subject
"All right. If you're that worried, I'll watch and see how the other Rangers react to you. I'm sure they won't reject you, but there's no reason you can't crawl around the Command Center sometimes. You've just proved that you're willing to follow our way."
no subject
To him, it is. And that's enough reason -- A sacred vow, an honourable vow. When he'd first learned of it, it had completel awed him, still awes him to this day.
"Rrr-enne be s-tain."
He'd gotten glimpses from Billy when they'd often conversed and what he'd gotten had been in his mind, too pure. Too pure to corrupt with the taint of shadow.
no subject
Definitely not. Renne wouldn't turn against them.
no subject
"Rrrr-ene wahn-t ma-ke prrraow-d, brrrin-g 'On-nerrr to Name."
no subject
no subject
Him? He can't help it; Renne ducks his head in a futile effort to hide the glowbug blush that spreads quickly across his entire body.
no subject
That much he's sure of.
no subject
no subject
"We'll all be fine, Renne. You'll see." And to think Billy was the one in need of reassurance when he arrived---but the faith bolstered him.
no subject
"Bee do goo-d. Rrrr-enne know it. Is wohrrrl-d, of Bee."
no subject
He usually understands Renne by now, but that last sentence confuses him. "World of what?"
no subject
The impression comes out probably a lot more clearly than his English had. Squeaking, Renne sits up a little bit straighter, hoping to make clear what he means.
no subject
Honestly? He misses his world, but there are some things he'd have a hell time giving up. One of them is right in front of him.
no subject
Don't ask him how he perceives Time -- it's really, really complicated. Chirping quietly, the Renne offers a careful nuzzle. There's a few more flashes on his skin, as if he wonders how anyone could think his silly imaginings were anything other than silly.
