Thinking with -- OW, THAT WAS AN ARROW.

Nehaalista stood back and admired her handiwork. Warsong Gulch lay spread out before her, each piece carefully and slowly laid in from memory. She was a little hazy where exactly one side of the gulch turned into the Barrens, but that was neither here nor there. The fact was it was big enough to move in, and that was all that mattered.

In addition to the usual look of the Gulch, Nehaalista had added a spectators' area to the north, nested securely in the branches of one of the incredibly tall trees that lined the area. So long as no one decided to knock the spectators over into the woods, Nehaalista was satisfied.

She crossed her arms and looked around one last time before nodding to herself.

((OOC: Welcome! This is a chance to play Capture the Flag as our Warcraft Denizens are used to playing it. It is permissible to post! No, guys, this does not go towards your Silverwing Sentinel or Warsong Outriders' reputation. OOC Plotting-planning-lololols are here)

"I got two rule questions. One, weaponry, two: is flying allowed while you don't have the flag?"

She thought she understood the rest: Get the flag, protect your own. That was simple enough.

"What about spells?" Kang asked, after a moment. "I'm assuming nothing that causes actual damage."

"Is it legal to incapacitate someone for longer than thirty seconds?" Evangeline asked. Her voice carried some of her usual brash impudence, but... she fancied herself something of a player of games, and was attentive enough to matters of rules. Even if she preferred combat games to carry a bit more risk.

"Alright," Jr. started, crossing his arms and leaning against a wall. "There might be someone faster than me who'd be better off with the flag, but speed isn't necessarily all we need. I'd rather sacrifice a little speed if the faster guy's also better for defense."

He looked around, particularly at their own flag. "It seems like the best idea is leaving two or three guys here go guard this baby while the rest try to make way toward the other base. But," he added, tapping a finger against his chin, "they might come up with the same idea. Or an idea that leaves our own vulnerable. Hmm."

He shrugged after that, figuring that they'd either luck out or someone else would have a better idea.

"As for what I can do-- well, like I said, I'm pretty fast. But I'm also pretty helpful otherwise. I've got some Ethers that stop targets from being able to cast magic. I've also got one that weakens those magic effects if they get any off on us, and I can remove them if we get hit with any. Same weakening for general defense and speed of our opponents. As for us, I've also got some Ethers that can heal us, give us more defensive and offensive power. I'll do that right before we start."

"What are the victory conditions, specifically?" Surely it couldn't be more than one flag-capture.

Alliance WTF? He took his place calmly in the waiting area, nodding at his teammate spoke.

"Given the nature of the game, I can drop down a number of enhancements to our side prior to the game. I weighted my loadout to control and enhancement, so I'll stay back on defense for the time being and do what I can to disrupt any approaches so they can be disabled."

Vita waved at Aibghalien, glad to know one person on the team.

"Myself, I'm mostly melee, but I can give some firing support from afar too, if needed. I can also take care of the skies, if you want, I'm skilled with aerial combat."

She pondered, then nodded. "And if a group of enemies can get close to me, I have a little trick up my sleeves to disorient them for a bit. As for the enemies, the only things I know is that the one with the eyepatch has explosive daggers. She'll probably also tell the others what I usually do, so fair's fair. Oh, and I suspect the blonde one has ways to incapacitate us for longer periods of time. Gotta watch for that."

Eva had asked about that, after all. Vita didn't really reveal that Cinque was a cyborg, because that was probably private, really. That Cinque was tough was something she didn't even think the others should be told, they most likely already knew something so obvious. To Vita. But then, Vita's perspective was a bit odd.

"My magic is mostly self-enhancement, though I can invoke shields on the rest of you," Maydril said, with a smile at Vita. The friendly smile extended to the others, and she offered a small bow.

"I can also daze people by making them sleepy, though if they have a great amount of mental fortitude, it will not last long, if at all. I am mostly a melee fighter myself, as well.

Then her eyes widened, as if she'd forgotten something. "Oh, and I can heal. That might be important."

"Lemme guess, we go best outta three, right?" Pyro piped up. That was how RED and BLU always did it.

[identity profile] shortaneye.livejournal.com 2010-10-15 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm willing to go for the flag, if nobody has any objections." Cinque said once she joined up with her team. "I was built for stealth and infiltration, and my Shell Coat can repel most magic, so it shouldn't be too difficult."

Well, the 'built for stealth' thing explained why this 20-year-old girl didn't look much taller than an elementary school kid.

Pyro tapped the blunt side of his fireaxe in one hand as he took in his surroundings. He liked this base. Lots of red.

"Well, I ain't hanging back on defense. I say we hit 'em fast and hard before they get the chance to do the same, 'cuz trust me, they will." Charging headlong into the enemy base was Pyro's way of doing things, of course. "But stealth? Stealth is good. We always had a guy on hand for infiltrating while the rest of us distracted the enemy with a full-on assault. Some of us can keep 'em busy while you run in and grab the intel."

Pause. "I mean, flag."

The game sounded fun, and the risks hadn't sounded so bad, but Tavros wasn't familiar enough with the MC or the other players to speak up. He didn't feel secure enough in his abilities to compete anyway, so it's for the best. He finds a good vantage point and parks himself someplace where see can see the game without being in anyone else's way.

Kang's wings rustled slightly, "...I have a spell that can turn someone invisible. I can easily cast it on one of the people guarding the flag and one person sneaking in to their base. I've also got a few spells that can stun or incapacitate, and one that enhances speed." He nodded at Aibghalien. "He may know the exact same spells that I do, since we are from similar worlds. But, I prefer melee over casting."

Already, he was going over tactics in his head, factoring in everyone's capabilities and the terrain.

[identity profile] cow-abunga.livejournal.com 2010-10-15 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Stealth is good for getting in. But out? It's pretty much impossible to sneak around with one of those things." Cowabunga said, thumbing to the flag.

Cowabunga stood, cocking his rifle and directing Humar to follow him "That said, it's a pretty standard and workable plan. Which means they'll probably try it too, so we're gonna need someone to hang back and be a guard."

"Hm, a lot of melee," he noted. "I'm more long-ranged myself, but I've got nothing on hand that aren't my own guns. Unless someone else has got something? I've got pretty good aim!"

"I propose this, then: Let us launch a direct assault with all haste, sending our physical combatants in first. One of my enhancement spells should provide a slight boost to speed for everyone, so our strike team will intercept theirs, incapacitate as many as possible, and then proceed ahead while they are still recovering. With luck we can gain the flag, split off a couple of people to detain the onslaught, and have the remainder provide protection to whoever is carrying it as they return."

"Not a bad idea, but what about defense of our own flag? Or do you think risking it would be worth it if we managed to get the other flag?"
