No coffee, just black tea [Open, and post-Contagion]
Once the City was no longer under lockdown, Ren had found a little bit of home--actually, home itself: Atori Teahouse.
Everything seemed to be just the way it had been--the canisters of tea throughout the cafe itself, the china, and the cake ingredients meant for Yui's birthday. And in the apartment in the back was all of his stuff...as well as Sanako's, Shinji's, and Yui's. Even the mirror Ren had used to seal Darkwing within had come from Yui's things.
Managing not to think about his lost friend, Ren set aside his Deck and the mirror and set the kettle to boil.

Most of that's for practical, mobility purposes. Or so he tells himself.
He tells himself that he hasn't been sitting useless, waiting in the wings with worry and nothing to hand. That it's all to be well, if not already is. And then, he smells...
Something. Of course, curiosity is the perfect excuse to sniff and find that scent.

With a forward-twitch of his ears, the anomaly moves as close as he dares to the scent even if that means brushing by a wall or some other thing he can't identify.
"Hell-loww?"
no subject
"You again," he said calmly.

Chirp. He's down in his crawl again but not for long. Carefully moving toward the sound, the oddity stops at what he hopes is a proper distance and slowly rises to stand up.
no subject
"It's hot," he warned.

Finding the cup after a minute or so, the creature offers a dip of his head and then...well, upon whispering a brief word, as if thanking the tea itself, has a sip. Don't worry. He likes things hot and for good reason.
"Th-is be goo-d."
A hand/paw dips into his britches pocket then, fishing out a simple bronze coin.
no subject
"What is that?" he asked.
no subject
Chirp. Can't react to gestures or things like that, so it might take a bit for him to realise Ren means the coin in his paw.

"Eee. Is frrrom Rrrrih-Din. Rrrr-enne wahn-t gi-ve yeu, fohrrr Tee."
no subject
Naturally, this was all Shinji's fault, and if he happened to wake up at any point, Ren would have to make sure he knew that.

Oh dear, slightly nervous almost-babbling.

Chirp. It's an invitation and a question -- Cross-culture trade-off with tea?

Ren got the box and handed it over to Renne. "It's Darjeeling, second flush."
no subject
He's curious though, very curious, given the flashes of Curious-colour flying across his skin. A few minutes later, he gently puts the box down, only to retrieve a little sack from his pocket. This, he offers.
"Eee. Trrry th-is, eey-ess? Is frrrom L'Langiniarrr."
no subject
L'Langiniar was new, however, and he admitted, "I've never heard of that place." Still, he took a fresh cup and added some leaves to it, pouring in the still-hot water from the kettle. After a moment of steeping, he took a taste and admitted, "Not bad." Not what he was used to, but not bad at all.

He's caught on that Earth, like many other locations, has nations, realms, kingdoms. Whatever one wishes to call them.
"Eee. It...was big sit-tee, in whe-rrre Rrrr-enne be frrrom. It noh be hee-rrre no morrre. -- Hee."
Ah, there's a flash of 'happy' there. He loves it when he can share native delicacies. Mentioning, he finishes off his own cup of this darjeeling stuff. And gives a purr. Yes, very good.

He nodded. "It's to the south and west where I come from. Not very close." He decided not to try to mention Japan or anything; he wasn't up to giving a whole geography lesson. So he simply nodded in response to Renne's explanation of his home city.
no subject
He misses the nod and any other gesture but that's all right. By now, the little oddity's grinning and reeking of curious fascination. Plus, the whole sharing-the-same-name thing is kind of cool to him.
"Hee."

Many Apologies -- Slow!fail.
Squeakchirp. Oh my, he's slightly excited now, with curious flashing rapidly in increasingly intricate patterns across his skin.
We should probably wrap this up fast
Drat. Sorry! I'll try.
Of course, he wants to learn nearly anything he encounters. So what they say about his curiosity is pretty much true.
Insatiable.
Re: Drat. Sorry! I'll try.
Among Sanako's things were several books on the different places she'd explored. Most were about the Amazon, but he did find a few magazines related to wilder areas in Japan that were up her alley.
He brought back these books and magazines and laid them in front of Renne. "These mention a few things about some parts of Japan, along with other areas on Earth."
Re: Drat. Sorry! I'll try.
Although curious, he's a patient critter and sits quietly. When 'Ren' returns, Renne's paws carefully extend toward the sound of something being put down. Although he can't read them like any sighted individual, the device Billy had constructed is sure to take care of that.
"Is yeu...fohrrr surrre?"
He will of course, return them in the same condition they're in now.

That's a thing a man could bet money on. Crawling forward to offer an appreciative nudge, Renne then very carefully tucks the other's offering under one arm. He's not moving until they're secure and have little chance of damage.

After entering, he saw..."Ren. Ren Akiyama. The ship decided to awaken you?"
no subject
"Do I know you?" he asked calmly. Tsukasa wasn't one of the Riders he knew (unless he had one of the other three Decks that were unaccounted for, and he wouldn't be in control of himself if he was Odin), and he couldn't remember ever picking a fight with him.

"You're a Rider too," he guessed. "If you're looking for a fight, you'll have to try another time. I'm not in the mood right now." And with that, he took another sip of tea, just to punctuate his point.

At the reminder of the War, he fought the urge to go to Eri's rings, simply asking, "Your battle or mine? The War Kanzaki set up has no purpose here without the Mirror World."
