You got some splainin' to do. [closed]
Thank god for pants.
Chris had a look around the room where his sister had been sleeping for the past year, getting the feeling he'd never quite get used to the whole "alien organs" motif this place had going for it. It seemed nice enough, though, and he was curious to know who all the things on one side of the room belonged to.
"So, I guess it'd be an understatement to say I missed a lot," he said, giving Boon a belly rub on the bed next to him.

"Goddamn, Claire," he sighed again.

"Hey, I could've just not told you I was dating him." It was actually kind of a big deal when she did admit to seeing someone, and it rarely "got" serious for her. On average her relationship with Leon was longer than most of her others combined.

marriedraising a child with her serious boyfriend?"It's not that," he insisted. "I just-- this is a lot to find out about my sister in one day, you know?"
no subject
"I know, but it's not like I can help that. Believe me, I would've been happier if you'd woken up right when I did but... you didn't. So I have to catch you up."

Chris drifted off and gave a frustrated sigh of his own. "I don't know. But what am I supposed to do? I barely even know this guy, and you..."

"Look, I don't doubt he's a good guy, and he's your boyfriend, so it's not even my call to make. I just-" He frowned sharply, the frown of a protective big brother who had slipped in his protection against his will.
"I don't like it."
no subject
"I know this is kind of sudden for you, but we've been together almost a year, now. Can you at least try to give him a chance?"
no subject
"I never said I wouldn't give him a chance," he said. "I just don't like being the last to know."

"Shit, Claire. Maybe you can give me five minutes or so to process all this, huh?" he muttered, reaching up to push his hair out of his face. The last thing he wanted to do was fight with her about this. It really wasn't his call, and it wasn't fair to expect her to put her life on hold for his sake. But still...

"Is Jill here?"
no subject
"She's not, no. The only people from our universe I've seen are..." she sighed, holding up a hand to start ticking everyone off. "You, me, Leon, Sherry, Steve Burnside, and Luis Sera."

He felt a little shiver go down his back and he exhaled a breath, shaking his head.
"Steve?" he repeated, looking for something to change the subject. "As in Rockfort Island?"
no subject
"Yup. One and the same."
no subject
"Are you okay?"
no subject
"Oh, yeah. Steve's been here a year, too. I'm fine. Believe me, that's all..." she waved her hand, looking off to the side for a second. "Done with."
no subject
"Are you sure?" he asked. "That can't have been... easy."
no subject
"It wasn't. It's still not, some days," she admitted, frowning a little, and straightening up completely. It had been hard, and it had been harder dealing with it without Chris. But she'd adapted. She leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees and clasping her hands together.
"Leon was there for me, though. Which I know is so not what you want to hear, but he made sure I didn't go crazy." Crazier, anyway.

He turned towards her and leaned forward, looking her in the eye. "I just want somebody to always be there for you. And I'm always gonna be there. But if I can't be around, for whatever reason, if I'm across the world or in a space-coma or whatever... it's gotta be one hell of a good guy to deserve you."
no subject
"Once this virus stuff is done with, talk to him, then." Normally she'd be severely opposed to any of her boyfriends having a conversation with her brother, but that was because a lot of the guys in the past she'd dated had never really even met her standard of total approval. At least when it came to holding up against her brother. Leon though, she was pretty sure he'd do fine.

"He's Captain of the ship, actually." Which was still something she wasn't happy about, though she was proud of him, if for nothing else than that him being in the position he was in made it obvious that he was well-loved by people besides her and their daughter.

"And when do I get to meet all the orphans you're taking in while I'm away?"
