Office Hours [Open]

Sometimes it was one thing after another with this crew. Other times, it was several things at once, as evidenced by the most recent series of events.

But Leon had to handle all of it. He was in the big chair now, literally in this case. He was in the Captain's Office, located just off the main bridge. It was fairly sparsely decorated, but had one hell of a view of the Bleed.

Not that Leon was taking too much time to enjoy it, he had a lot of work to do.

Fat chance, there, Leon.

Sherry glanced up at her bangs. They weren't horrible, yet, but they were growing just as quickly as usual. "You think so?"

At least she hadn't gotten taller yet. "Maybe Mom will fix them for me." She glanced back down at the reader, flicking through the titles until she found one she liked. "You might need to let her fix your hair, too."

Sherry turned her head down just enough to muffle a little laugh, "No?" So you'll trust her with your daughter's hair and not yours, Leon? "Why not?"

May you never find Nair in your shampoo bottle, Leon.

Sherry raised an eyebrow at her father, as she calculated the likelihood he'd find time for his hair. Especially since it didn't appear he'd had time to eat properly. She was pretty sure no matter how much of a superhero her father was, eventually that hair thing would get a one up on him.

Probably time to change the subject. "Well, if it gets too long, you can borrow my headband. The blue ones, not the red ones." So specific. "Kelly says I'm going to have to start tying my hair back if I want to keep it out of the way when we go running."

Sherry nodded, "Mmhmm! I know that I'll never be as fast as she is, but, at least then I can be a little bit useful." Even if she was only running away. "I don't know. It's fun though, and if I get tired she just puts me up on her shoulders and runs with me."

Sherry shrugged, "No, Daddy, I'm not fond of stupid people. Kelly isn't stupid." See, there was a clear distinction between her and everyone else she didn't like.

Vega was a special case, Leon. Sherry looked up thoughtfully and twisted her hair around a finger. "I like Dr. Sera. Annnd... Oh! Oh! And Wyn."

Though, that was mostly the chemistry class explosions she was thinking of. "And Vega, but Vega can be stupid sometimes. You and Mom, too, but you don't count for this, because I'm always with you."

She tapped her chin in thought, "It's a very short list."

"Kind of, with Komali." They'd be really okay eventually, but for now, she was willing to back away. "I don't like Vivio, Daddy. She seems like she's trying too hard, and being so nice to everyone always makes her seem like she's playacting."

"Fletcher is sort of okay, though. He's not stupid, and he likes plants. And Alessa has always been creepy." She sort of tucked in her shoulders a little, "I still like Roxie and Yuri, though, even if they're not awake anymore." And probably would never wake up again.

"And I don't bother with a lot of the others," her tone indicated that she did not see the point of it. "I read enough of their reactions to things on the comms to not like them." His daughter was stubborn and unforgiving, wasn't she?

"Well, I try..." Sherry shrugged. "But sometimes they just do it to themselves. Like that crazy girl that's always like... telling the frontier to think of her." She wrinkled her nose.

Oooh, outreasoned by the 12-year-old. Sherry grinned at her father.

"They can start being smarter, first." She replied, then added, "And then I'll be more willing to give them a chance." That was really the best she could do until the stupid wore itself out or flared up wildly.

"I'll try," she promised. Though she wasn't sure in what situation anyone would need her help. What could she do really but wriggle into vents and hide? Or, as her exercise with Kelly was proving, run away really fast.

Sherry flipped the page on her reader. "But I probably won't like it."
