"Does it bite?" Paco asked, eyeballing Chief's new friend and inching closer. He wasn't going to hold a hand out for it to sniff -- or whatever it was that spaceroaches did -- if it was going to bite him. As cool as Allen's cyborg-work was, he'd like to keep his remaining body parts firmly attached.

And yes, he did notice that Chief hadn't technically answered his question. Which just made him grin a bit. Some people got alien puppies, Chief got himself an affectionate spaceroach. Why not?
