Movies are but a shared dream [Open to Outsiders and potential Outsiders]

While he would have liked to try his new idea to watch movies using the sensoriums...it was important today's meeting happened at the Outsider headquarters.

He'd set up signs leading people from the front entrance to a conference room that he'd cleared out and filled with any comfortable types of furniture he could get his clever hands on. This resulted in a few sofas, a low table, a pair of ratty looking but comfy arm chairs, and a lamp.

All in all it wasn't impressive in the slightest...but Beastboy was proud of it. The most important thing about a movie viewing room was after all...the sound and screen.

The meeting room had already had a screen for presentations, and after some scrounging about the hotel he found a DVD player projector. The speakers proved more elusive.

He'd taken apart the intercom system in some of the rooms of the hotel and cobbled them together in...what he hoped would be an epic sound system.

Finally the finishing touch? Chili pepper lights along the top of the walls and a disco ball.

Yes...it was ready.

Katara had popped in to see how Beastboy was fairing as far as room set up. There was already a sort of gloom after all she'd seen. so it was fairly noticeable that Katara's hair was out of order and she had rings around her eyes: add to that the slow feeling at the loss of someone she cared about, and the feeling of something hurtful being released in her that she didn't understand. Right now, what she wouldn't do to see someone from her world...but as none of them save for Toph were involved with the Outsiders, she didn't see that happening. Despite that, she'd managed to try and put on a cheerier attitude for the rest of the group, and had hastily wiped her eyes to ready herself for today's festivities.

She had to admit though, that the decor of the room leaved a bit to be desired. The room was definitely far from being one of the nicer ones, but Beastboy had done the best that he could, and she smiled weakly at the concentrated effort. Besides, she didn't know what half of the other stuff in the room was anyway, it wasn't as if she could judge him on that.

...Although she DID wonder what the heck was up with that shiny blinky ball thing.

"Hey Beastboy! It looks, uh, great!"

Katara was pretty impressed, at least by the disco ball. It reminded her of the club she visited on the planet before the Ohm trashed everything. She actually really liked the way it threw light over everything: it was still a little amazing to her. She clapped her hands, but gave him a bit of a smirk.

"And WHY would we need that for watching movies, Beastboy?"

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-09-10 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Katara nodded. "Hey, its been a pretty rough few days. If people don't come, no big, right? We'll hold something like this again. I'm really glad that you put forth all of this effort though: this room could use personal touches from a all of us, right? I like it!"

She did yawn a little, if only because she was a little exhausted. "What movie did you have planned anyway?"

"Oh?' Katara took a look at them, and though she could read the titles, she still had no idea what any of them were about. "Well, I don't see why not! Um...what are they about, anyway?"

Alex had actually been spending quite a bit of time in the Outsiders' headquarters here and there, having taken to occasionally taking to sleeping on the sofas there instead of his own room by the media library.

He was still in the habit of hiding when someone passed by, but he had said on the comms that he'd bring his laptop and try to set up some games to be played. He really had almost no knowledge on how to rig things, but at least he had to try, right? Maybe someone else could help with setting it up.

That was a pretty diverse set up movies. Of course one of the first ones that caught her attention was the romantic comedies, but she also liked the idea of the one with the kids, even though she had no idea what a car-toon was (if it had anything to do with cars though Katara thought she might skip that one for the moment). At the mention of the last one, she was a little curious. Beastboy had only just met her, after all: how would he know what she liked?

"And why not?" she said, sounding a little bossy but more amused. "Hand it over, Beastboy."

Katara giggled. "And here I thought it was going to be something weird or dirty!" She handed the DVD back to him, grinning. "I'm sure we'll take a look at that when we all feel like having a good laugh, don't you think?"

She shrugged, and took a look at the other DVDs. "I'll let you pick. They all sound pretty good, and I don't want people to think that we'll be the ones to decide. Personally, I wouldn't mind a romance one. It sounds nice."

Starfire hoped she wasn't too terribly late. It had taken longer than she had expected to ask the crew members for some form of snack. Anything would be wonderful, she'd begged.

Finally, she'd come away with a somewhat large bag of potato chips after promising to help with some chores. Grinning, she plopped the bag down in front of the people gathered there.

"I have located the snacks!"

Once that was declared, she observed the decor. "You have been most creative with the lighting, Beast Boy."

Alex was confused a moment, since Alice was smaller and still on his shoulder. Then he noticed the rat was green. "Beastboy!"

They had only talked a few times, mostly over the omnicomms, but that didn't mean he couldn't appreciate a fellow gamer. He put his arm out so that Alice could climb down- she had been seeming like she wanted to investigate this new rat- and let Alice approach Beastboy, sniffing at him and trying to figure out who he was.

Starfire floated up to the disco ball, spinning around it with a shining smile. "It is quite pleasing to the eye. Do you require any other assistance before the film begins?"

"Of course!"

Giggling, she turned her gaze around the room. "We will enjoy the film together."

Alex was confused, but the guy smelled the same so it didn't really matter much to her. She began licking at Beastboy's fingers. She really loved new friends.

"Th-thanks! Her name's Alice."

Laurie enters with a nice bright mood.

She doesn't announce herself. Simply walks in, with a small smile, and Spot at her heels, observing the decor with a tiny appreciation for Garfield's different taste in decorations.

If you guys are not cool with Lash bursting in, I will delete <3

The talk was interrupted with an afo bursting into the scene, a human female attached to it.

"Hey guys! Guess w-" she looked around, utterly confused at the lighting.

"Uuuuh, what's with the spinning glass ball?" Being stuck in a war field for most of her life, she was completely confused by what it was supposed to represent. "Is it a holographic display for the movie?"
