Command Staff Meeting!

Cybil Bennett had contacted Chief, Lyta, Nathan, Billy, Allen, Doc McCoy, and Superman for the Senior Staff meeting. Captain Kirk, Captain Picard, and Elfangor were invited to be part of it.

There'd be a general meeting after all this to make sure everyone was okay with the regime change, but, well, they had some real captains here now. Might as well take advantage of it.

The only non-senior staff member here, down where they were having the meeting in the Vatican in the city was Jaime Reyes, who was currently shielding them via a blue bubble from Stacy's sensors. They were weak in the City, but you never knew.

"Don't mind the blue bubble, folks, or the armor. Jaime here is just making extra sure Stacy doesn't listen in."

She folds her hands behind her back. "I think introductions are in order, first. Elfangor, you're the only one I haven't been formerly introduced to. I'm Cybil Bennett, a police officer from Brahm's, West Virginia, and as of right now, acting captain, though I'd like to see that change."

She looks to one of the others to introduce themselves.

"Kal-El of Krypton." Superman says simply.

"Most of you know me, but for those that don't I'm Spartan 117, Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy. I'm with the UNSC, if that means anything to any of you. I answer to 'Chief' or 'Spartan'," the Chief says, eyeing in particular the new crew members as he does.

"Cybil named me second in command at our last meeting," he adds.

The minute she entered the Vatican, Lyta was taken back by the drastic changes that St. Peter's Basilica had undergone. The stained glass windows were now covered with thick planks of wood taken from busted up pews. Several other pews had been nailed together in what appeared to be make-shift beds and several piles of metal lay in one corner. Someone had been busy...

Turning her attention back to the reason for being there, she introduced herself to the new arrivals.

"I'm Lyta Alexander, Commercial Telepath, official PsiCorps rating P-5."

Nathan was something of a lapsed Catholic, but even he was eyeing the changes to the Vatican with annoyance. One quick cursory glance around before nodding to everyone.

"Nathan Petrelli, formerly elected Congressman of NY's 14th District. Also former Naval pilot." The Assistant DA part could be mentioned later.

Bones was still a bit stunned by the fact that Jim was alive and on board. Albeit a Jim from roughly 20 years ago his time.

"Dr. Leonard McCoy, Ships surgeon, USS Enterprise NCC-1701-*A*, since I guess I have to make the distinction now." He said, smiling. "Might as well tell you now, you'll hear me referred to as 'Bones' from time to time, it's a nickname. Cybil placed me in charge of Medical staff."

Billy was a bit surprised by the choice of meeting place, but it worked well enough for their purposes to be standing in an abandoned and apparently recently renovated church. He nodded to the others and spoke.

"I'm Billy Cranston, co-chief of engineering." He figures that's enough functional information. That said, he nods to his co-chief.

"-and I'm Allen Gentry, co-chief of engineering."

Allen nods. His expression seems to say, Yes, that's right, I and the Blue Ranger are partners in being in charge of EVERYTHING AWESOME INVOLVING THE POWER OF OUR BRAINS. Understandably you are jealous, but please, let's try not to let it interfere with us all getting our work done.

. . . but you're probably just imagining it.

"Oh, and I'm a cyborg."

'Cause a dude's gotta have SOME street cred when he's on a ship with Leonard McCoy, Master Chief, and Superman.

Jaime, standing over there likely a full head shorter than everyone else and looking awkward holding up the shield, looks nervous in the face of all these people older and more awesome than himself and whispers to Cybil, though loud enough for all of them to hear:

""

He wants to be included!

Yay!

"Uh, hi. I'm Blue Beetle, although my civilian ID is Jaime Reyes--just don't go around spouting that to everyone though, even though I haven't really hidden it on the ship. I do the shieldy thing at the meetings to block Stacy's sensors and I'm in charge of the 'Getting Us the Heck Out of Here' team, which is making good progress at opening up the rest of the ship, by the way. Also, I'm a superhero from Superman's world, but way in his future."

A pause.

"So...hi."

Dork.

It was a good thing Ax knew the people on board, or Elfangor might have missed this meeting. Which he found very important to attend. The fact they were going through the trouble of shielding out Stacy meant they also realized the threat a being hiding so much information posed.

It meant he didn't have to play hero by himself, which was honestly a relief.

< I am Elfangor-Sirinial-Shamtul, an Andalite War Prince. I am still new to the ship. > He thought spoke.

"It's a pleasure to meet all of you. My name is Jean-Luc Picard, I'm the captain of the USS Enterprise, NCC-1701E." He hadn't expected to meet everyone so soon, but such was more the better. He didn't understand the mechanics of the shield surrounding them, nor did he know most of the people here. He most certainly recognized Admiral McCoy, however.

Superman raised his hand. "I'm not necessarily opposed to it per se...other than the fact that, if I understand it correctly, both Captains just came off of the pod. Would some time to allow them to get acclimated be a good idea before you simply hand off the reins? With all due respect, Ms. Bennett...I think you're doing a perfectly good job as it is."

"I've no problem with claiming command, if it's truly necessary. Acclimation isn't something that we exactly have time or luxury for, from the sounds of it. I can tell you, honestly, that I've been in a situation rather similar to this one," Picard commented, stepping closer to Superman and Cybil. This situation sounded like an odd distortion of the Borg, and even the ship they were on seemed like an organic Borg cube at times.

"I've always been a quick learner."

"One of our ongoing issues has been the facilitation of communication across the ship. Given the probable emergency situations we'll be facing and the considerable size of the ship, we decided that a remote communications system would be a necessity. That's why Brainiac 5, Allen, and I have developed communication rings that we will be fitting all the crew members with at the upcoming meeting. At full functionality, they can transmit signals over distances as large as parsecs. They're also equipped to extend the range of telepathic transmissions over the same distance."

Stopping to take a breath, he addresses the little snag. "Unfortunately, we've hit a dilemma. Some of our crew members are capable of morphing their physical forms, and the change of shape would cause those crewmates to lose their rings. We're attempting to find a solution that would allow the ring to shift with its user, but we haven't had a breakthrough."

With that said, he nods to Allen. "And now Allen's report, unless you have anything else to add about the comm rings?"

Lyta nodded, folding her arms over her chest. Everyone seemed to have a good point. It would be nice to have an actual captain in charge of things but Kal was right, they had just woken up.

She sighed.

"Well, whatever we decide--if Cybil stays in command or if we turn it over to the Captains, here--I think we need to stick with it. If we keep amending the command structure every time someone new is released from the pods, no one is going to know who is in charge of what and when."

Nathan then added, pacing back and forth as he considered his words, "I'd say given the circumstances, maybe a trial period? Need some kind of transition time to adjust to how things are here, see how each group works. Furthermore, I take it we are going to put this to vote with the whole crew?"
