Emo Corner: Open for Business!

Ever since the last podpop, there seemed to be a new addition to the obs deck. Nearly once a day, a certain brunette could be found huddled on one of the meatcouches and staring sadly in the general direction that all new arrivals came from.

She didn't know why she was still clinging to this.

Ophelia had explored the ship a little, but a combination of overwhelming unfamiliarity and a nagging feeling always drew her back to the same place on the obs deck to wait. She knew Eddie wasn't here, because he would have made his presence known by now if he was. She hadn't seen anyone else she knew yet, either. From what she had gathered, though, she knew there was a good chance all of her loved ones (and Lita) were in those... pod things, like she had been, and the ship seemed to let them out erratically. She also knew that they came from that huge cavern to this huge room.

What she didn't know was how often the ship let them out. She was pretty sure it wasn't every day, or even every week, since it seemed like a big event to the people who were already awake. But maybe there were some stragglers? Maybe today there would be more?

Maybe she was fooling herself because she didn't want to consider the alternative.

((OOC NOTE: Hi there. I meant to post this forever ago, but RL happened. So this can be bendytimed to any time since the last podpop I guess. 8D))

Alex stumbled over his words for a moment before getting out, "W-well, i-in my world, th-there's a video game w-with you in it. A r-really fun one." He offered another smile to the girl, though it was an awkward sort of smile. He knew that that must sound weird

Alex pulls out his shiny new system courtesy of Stephen, and flipped on the simple rouge-like that he had programmed in. "Th-this. It's a g-game that u-uses moving p-pictures and some set of c-controls. Th-there's lotsa types of games, l-like role-play, p-puzzle, action, sh-shooter, y-you name it. Th-there's also s-some that g-get played on TV s-screens."

Alex laughed in embaressment. "N-no. Usually they're more... R-refined with their images. Th-this is j-jus' standard symbols an' colours..." He smiled and held the game out for her, "wanna try it?"

Alex smiled, patiently showing her the controls of the game, and then explained in more detail the obscure objective of a ROUGE- like game he knew thetype of game was a bit difficult, but he was patient with her and easily asked any questions she had about gameplay.

"I-it's really not much to tell a story... It's..." He had to think. What was the reason? "I g-guess it's a s-sorta way to escape. Escape reality, ya know?"

[identity profile] hack-rat.livejournal.com 2010-09-09 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
Alex couldn't help but to laugh. It wasn't in the least bit mean or mocking, merely entertained.

"N-no. Not at all! Y-you wouldn't be able to g-get what Bladehenge looks like on th-this little thing. N-not properly at least."

Alex nodded, "There are! Th-thousands of 'em. M-maybe sometime I c-can simulate what yours was like in the sensoriums."

It was nice that he could play all sorts of console games from memory, though it was unfortunate that he could only play ones he remembered.

[identity profile] hack-rat.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
Alex laughed, "You c-can make the sensoriums l-look like your home yourself, an' you c-could pro'lly do a better job too! I mean, I'd j-just be replicating the game... You'd be replicating the place itself."

[identity profile] hack-rat.livejournal.com 2010-09-15 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
Alex laughed, "Y-yeah, I mean, I don' g-get out too much, so, i-if I've found it... Ya better get started on exploring."

To be fair, he had pulled up info about the ship on the comms, and saw it mentioned in some posts, so it hadn't been like he was just wandering. He still felt the need to point out, "You c-could see Eddie, but he'd be a copy, an illusion based off o-of your memories of him, s-so it's really not the same..."
