Scorpius has left the other two... three if one counts the symbiotic life form of one of them... to further explore and get his bearings.

He turns the corner... and freezes. This one... is very different.

Very different indeed.

Satisfied with his exploration of a particular doorway, the Doctor turned to continue on. Noticing the other figure, he blinked, then smiled. "Oh, hello! Didn't see you there. Haven't met up with the group yet, have you?"

"I'm afraid I haven't," he acknowledges. "What group might this be?"

The Doctor scratches the back of his neck. "I think it's sort of the group, actually. Large, lots of people, general milling about, the expected confusion. The usual."

"You are distinctly neither Human nor Sebacean. What are you?"

"What's a Sebacean?"

"A populous race which makes up one of the more populated areas of the corner of space I come from. Have you ever heard of the Peacekeepers? Scarrens? The Nebari, even?"

"Err, no. Sorry. Must be from different universes," because obviously the Doctor knew every race and species within his own. "Apparently that's happening a lot here."

"Your energy signature is quite unique. Just what manner of being are you?"

"Time Lord, the last. Which would be why it's unique. You?"

"Sebacean-Scarren hybrid... the only." He smiles politely. "Time Lord, you say?" He seems to ponder the possibilities.

"Yes. Well, Gallifreyan as well, obviously. Well, not obviously, I suppose, for you. Same thing, though. Only not really."

"...of course." Scorpius glances around. "And you said there were others, from other universes, elsewhere aboard?"

He was going around with no suit. Paco was on Obs talking to the other people--and likely flirting like crazy with the girl who tackled him as he had a thing for girls that tackled him--and Jaime trusted that he'd be okay with Flash and Starfire around--and okay in general.

He was going 'sploring.

And also bug-hunting.

No suit, though, as he didn't want to get shot at again. He'd suit up if there was danger.

He saw the man, and jogged to catch up.

"Heh. Do you have an annoying headvoice, too, or are you just talking to yourself?"

"Hm?" The Doctor looked. Oh, it was the one they'd shot at. "Nah, no headvoices for me." He grinned, possibly a little strained, and tapping his head explained, "Just me in there. Sort of used to traveling with a friend, is all. Care to join me?"

Jaime caught up and kept pace with him, sneakers squeaking a little on the weird fleshy floor. (And boy, judging from those weird suits, he was lucky he had sneakers and normal clothes, thanks to Khaji.

"If you're exploring? Definitely. I want to get to the bottom of this and get us all home." A pause. "And mess up any evil plans any aliens might possibly have along the way. Big alien ship? Pulling from different dimensions? Millions of people, who are good with weapons or have powers? Someone's building an army. We have to wonder if it's meant to fight someone worse than them or if the ones who grabbed us are the bad guys. Or it could be bad guys fighting other bad guys. Or something so complicated 'good' and 'bad' don't quite apply as well."

The Doctor blinked twice, startled. Grinned, completely won over. "Y'know, I don't think I could have said it better myself. Though, don't forget the scientists. Not all of us are soldiers, you know. Some of us are simply geniuses!"

Turning more serious, he added, "I'd like to find my ship, and then find out what was going on. In that order. 'Course, doubt it'll work that way, but I'd prefer a way to get the less powerful people out before we start too much trouble, assuming we need to. I'm assuming we need to. Well, assuming they'd listen too, which is seeming unlikely. Not that they could pilot her anyway, mind."

"What kind of ship?"

"What sort of ship? What do you mean? It's a space ship, obviously. Well, and a time ship. TARDIS, actually. If you're going to be picky. It's blue, box-like. Has a bit of a light up top. Why, have you seen it?"

"Nope, but if it gives off any sort of strange energy that's pick-up-able, and I can eventually get over the whole 'using the scarab's scanners kills my brain' thing that's been going on, I might be able to track it. Eventually. So I need to know what to look for."

He tapped his temple. "The scarab has sensors--using them is one of the things it's best at. The problem is right now, in this place, Stacy's telepathic thing and all the data chugging through her systems can't be shut out so it's, uh, mildly brain damage inducing. I need to figure out a way to get around it. Scan selectively and not pull in everything at once. If I can figure out how to do that, though..."

"Ah, well," he tried not to sound too disappointed. "I wouldn't strain yourself too hard. For all we know, Stacy's doing that on purpose. If you break loose of this, it might just get worse."

"And worse would be the equivalent of a telepathic lobotomy, so yeah, I'm playing it careful. But if I get around it, I'll let you know." A pause. "What's your name, anyway?"

"Oh, that's right! I haven't introduced myself, have I? I'm the Doctor. Just the Doctor. And you're Jaime, right?"

Jaime held out his hand, as that was the polite thing to do. "Jaime Reyes."

It was quite clear this wasn't quite a 'Worry about the secret ID situation.'

"What are you the Doctor of?" he asked, amused.

The Doctor took the hand and shook it enthusiastically. "Wonderful! Lovely to meet you, Jaime Reyes."

Why did they always have to ask that question?

"Ah, well. Everything? Sort of depends, really. Doctor of Learning, maybe?"
