Swords for Hunters. [Open] (Warning for language because Hunters)

Training was coming along. Also the house they were living in, but it still needed more repairs. That Xander guy was a big help, even if Dean didn't care for how the guy would sometimes stare at his brother too long. It was weird, and he'd be apologetic about it as he'd get back to work. But it's weird. All the one eyed guy would say would be how he knew the other Sam and they worked together against the Yeerk. The very idea of his brother being possessed again by something evil... that was worse, and reminded him too much of the possible futures he kept hearing or seeing. Sam saying yes. Like he was always going to bend over to Lucifer for one reason or another. And Dean had to allow it. Just sit back like some useless bitch while everything falls. Well hell with that, hell with the damn future for that matter. He hoped Adam was in the pods perhaps, and maybe his old man. At very least Mikey can't have them take his place.

Or you can accept your destiny, Dean.

Crap, he could do without the background commentary. He needed a drink or something to fight. He was half hoping Vader would show up somewhere so he could go kick his Sith ass. Be better than contemplating how much his future will suck if they get their world back. Eh, screw it, he needed to practice or something. He checked the time. Hunter class was yesterday, so he was free and clear there. He hated using the Sensoriums but it did work for training purposes. Like the hunting sim he rigged up a few times.

Now, time for something different. Cas was probably poking around the hydroponics. As long as he was just growing herbs and weed and not trying to partake anything narcotic, it seemed like a good idea. Gave him something else to do. Just like what Dean was doing. Keep moving, keep busy. Fight and bury the thoughts down in the hole.

Today's practice didn't involve a gun though. It involved a longsword. His old man gave them some pointers about bladed weapons, and an overview just in case. But most of their battles involved guns and bigger weapons. Still, better to be diverse as possible.

Vader's expression became stony.

"I do not expect one such as you to understand what I did, or how my actions set free an entire Galaxy," he said, his tone dangerously even. "Do not speak to me of morality."

In an instant, a holographic lightsaber appeared in Vader's hand and bathed his face in a red glow.

"I made the Galaxy a place of order, a place that is no longer a chessboard for the Jedi or the greedy politicians to play their games on, Vader hissed over the hum of his weapon. "In time, I will have the power to keep death itself at bay. I have broken the chains that bound me and destroyed anyone who would keep me enslaved. I have made a paradise," he snarled, pointing his lightsaber at Dean.

"You have no idea of what you speak."

"Is that so?" Vader asked, his face twisted in a look of disgust. "Do you side with the Jedi, then, who would also demand you call them 'master'? I once blindly followed as you do, but no longer- I made my choice. Now I am privileged to serve only the wisest of beings, whose sight stretches well into the future- can you say the same? I have made things as they should be."

Almost. Almost as they should be. But Vader would never admit that he had envisioned the Galaxy as having Padme in it...

"The future is the Emperor's to manipulate," Vader said, with a hint of smugness in his voice. "I have aligned myself with the man I know is wiser and more capable than me- are you arrogant enough to think that you are fit to rule your Universe?"

"The power of the Force transcends species," Vader said, "the Emperor is guided by the same power that causes planets to turn. Those who defy his reign are fools to not see what he can bring to this Galaxy, and perhaps to all Galaxies."

"It was a mistake to expect you to comprehend," Vader said, shaking his head. "How many times must I tell you I have chosen- my hand may have been forced, but I chose the path of freedom, for myself and the Galaxy. The Jedi can only gnash their teeth and wish they had stolen me in infancy and truly brainwashed me. They were arrogant to believe they could control me, and they paid the price for it."

In an instant Vader had crossed the space between them, leaving barely and inch between their two faces and pressing the tip of his lightsaber against Dean's chest.

The holographic weapon couldn't burn him, but Vader's glare looked as though it was dangerously close to.

"The man you are speaking of freed me from the Jedi's rule," he hissed, "he is my master and in some ways my father. Be cautious."

"Then perhaps you are lacking," Vader spat, "it is none of my concern. My duty is to tame that Galaxy that my son may rule over it with ease, not explain my duties to you."

Vader drew back his lightsaber, as if he intended to lop Dean's head off through sheer force of will, but then dropped it- it vanished before it hit the floor.

"I do not have to listen to this. I have better things to be doing than engaging fools such as yourself."

[identity profile] sin-and-misery.livejournal.com 2010-08-08 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Vader's eyes narrowed.

"My son was stolen from me," he said, harshly. "Would you insinuate otherwise?"

"Then you truly know nothing at all," Vader replied, acidly. It was a bluff. Whether or not Dean knew of his unorthodox parentage, his insights were far too accurate- especially for one lacking the perceptive abilities of a Force user.
