Backtimed: Just after the pop pod

Having jet-black skin is useful for being stealthy... at night. With the current 'day' cycle, though, there's nothing to keep Meluly from being particularly noticeably as she ambles from building to building, checking the interiors for anything useful.

She's wearing a belt low on her hips with a pistol-in-holster and a few pouches on it... and nothing else, actually. She isn't that discomforted by the nudity, but for having to be a bit more careful with her feet and body than otherwise.

Mai is out and about again. She's taken to poking around the city and occasionally using certain buildings for target practice with her knives. Plus, down here there's a relatively smaller chance of running into people. Today, however, she runs into Meluly. She stops, blinking in surprise for a moment. She's not really used to running into random naked women (let alone ones with tattoos everywhere).

"Well. Now I've seen everything."

"...Hi," Mai folds her arms, schooling her face back into its usual placid mask, although she's carefully keeping her eyes on Luly's face, "No, not really. Most of this city is empty. And boring. Well, some guy is turning one of the larger buildings into a miniature fortress..."

She waves a hand in the vague direction of the Vatican.

If she is, Mai is ignoring it and doing a pretty good job of it at the moment. She shrugs in response to Luly's exclamation, "Don't ask me. I just know it's a giant temple or something and he's been melting down things and building barricades. I hear him every time I walk past."

"At least he wears clothing."

Mai seems to think so too.

"And it makes sense. Some weird stuff has happened on this ship. Like brain slugs."

"Better than nothing. Good luck finding something in this place... None of us have."

She shrugs, then blinks and shakes her head, "...Migou? No, I think they were called... Yeerks or something."

"Well, they all starved to death and withered. Unless they can fake that..." Mai shrugs.

"Well, maybe it's different from where you're from... but we're not really used to people walking around like that."

Mai shrugs again and toys with one of her knives, "Not much phases me. The world is a boring place."

Mai rolls her eyes, "I hadn't noticed. But, really, it's the same thing every day. I eat the same muck, I throw knives at targets, I wander the ship, and sometimes I use the Sensorium. Boring."

"It's... hard to describe. Pulls memories or something and makes places seem real. Except they're not." Another shrug.

"You sort of have to ask it to do it... I don't really know how it works. It's just... a really, really good illusion." She rubs one arm, "It showed me a place I knew back home, but there were no people. That kind of thing."

[identity profile] grayaura.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, it sort of is" Mai went silent, watching the other woman for a moment, "This whole ship is."
