Basic Training Week 4 [Closed to Rogue Squadron, and certain invited troublemakers.]
This week the recruits were greeted to the sight of the sensoriums transformed into a jungle. A hot, miserable, and humid jungle. So like any other jungle on any other planet, in just about any other universe. Laid out in a clearing will be their blaster rifles, along with a full combat load, and a pack. They'd also find their orange jumpsuits replaced by appropriate combat uniforms. Kyle himself was already loaded up in similar fashion, and prepared to go.
"The scenario for today, recruits, is that we've completed an engagement with the enemy during a long range patrol in this lovely tropical locale, and are now moving to our extraction point. Enemy troops might be pursuing us, we don't know. Because of this, and enemy air activity there is a very narrow window for us to be picked up at the LZ. So that means get your gear, and get a move on!"
Kyle leads them through the jungle for a time before he moved behind some trees, and slipped out of their sight. He's replaced by a replica from the sensoriums that continues along, presenting a perfect target to be eliminated by a skilled sniper from afar. Which is exactly what happened as his doppelganger's head snapped back from the rounds impact, and the body fell with a thud. It was a bit of a cruel trick, but now he could see how this ragtag bunch managed to handle things when left on their own.
[OOC: Kyle will be hiding, and observing the recruits to see how they react, and pull themselves together. Also he has deliberately not established where the chain of command goes should he be taken out. He wants to see who can lead, and who can follow. It's also a test to observe whose ego still needs some adjustment. So argue, and bicker away as your characters please, that's the whole point. Kyle will also be triggering enemy attacks for them to respond to, and even might have brought in a couple of other people to assist him in harassing the recruits as they make their way to the LZ.

"--!"
One thing Yzak had explained to his troops before was that you never knew what was around the corner in a battle. Being prepared for the worst but ready to do your best was one of the most important things one could do. Yzak had been in situations that suddenly changed from one thing to another, faced with the possibility of sudden death but reacting in time to get out of harm's way.
"The attack came from the right!" he called out to the others.

He leaned out of cover, and practiced pilot eyes scanned the underbrush looking for any hint of unnatural motion. There-- There were figures there, and he ducked back behind the tree before they could snipe his exposed head. "At least three over there," he responded. "Probably more."

[OOC: They're mooks so feel free to mod taking them out.]

"We could be in trouble if we all stick together like this and they hit us with something big. We should break off into groups - five, maybe six to each to make sure we're still covered."

She remembered fighting the Angel alongside Rei and Shinji. Just like this. Well, except not. "Someone has to keep their heads down or distract them while someone else takes them out!"

Trudy hadn't been moving as quickly as the others, preferring to swing around behind the group. They should have started moving as soon as shots were fired, until they could tell where the fire was coming from and return it. And yelling at each other wasn't helping.
Trudy shook her head, but didn't fire her weapon yet. She wanted to see what they would do with a tail, if they even saw her.

"I'm going-- get ready!" He took a deep breath, fixed on his destination - another large tree trunk about twenty feet away - and then sprinted out from cover, tucking his rifle into his chest for ease of running as he dove to roll behind cover.

He makes it to safety, but several of those dodges... it's hard to tell if they were genuine or simply dumb luck.

"Three of you cover him. Four of you, come with me-- this way." He nodded his head in the opposite direction that Kira had leapt. "The rest of you stay in this area so they keep some focus here, but don't stick too close to one another and be careful, don't get yourselves shot."
And then he looked to his left, and quickly moved behind the shrubbery, trying to keep himself paced enough to not be noticed.
