En-Light-enment

Title: En-Light-enment
Location: Stacy; Engineering

Duty.

To some, it's just a word, an obligation. To others, it's an honour-bound pact and to others still, it combines knowledge with honour with the passion of doing that duty. To Renne, it had for many years, become a reason to keep on breathing, to keep on searching.

Now, Duty gives way to Curiosity as he sits on the floor of Engineering with little bits, bobs and parts surrounding him. Along with this, stands the audio-adaptation Billy had created so that he might utilise books successfully.

And yes. Renne had gushed considerably over that.

With the reader babbling merrily along about circuits and light bulbs in a way that can be understood by one who has never been exposed to such technologies, Renne carefully retrieves some of the bits and pieces around him. Hey look, Einstein. He's trying to build a circuit!

Just don't laugh at the wire "glasses" perched on his nose.

"I'm not big on law, just tolerant," Alessa replied. "Actually, most of the patience I've learned to have is because of this ship. I've even met people that I don't want to die if a worst case scenario were to happen on the ship."

She laughed. "Some order is unnecessary. True circumstance happens in the thick of things."

Alessa looked intrigued. "Why does that matter? Everyone dies. It is a matter of life. Does it bother you so much?"

"I see..." Alessa said. "Many humans believe that, so its the truth on your world. Is that why you try to make yourself extraordinary on the ship?"

"I understand that," Alessa said, "but its just as important to not short change yourself. If you do, you're only making it harder to find what you;re skilled at. You can even assist in certain departments. What other abilities do you possess?"

"It's a turn of phrase meaning not to underestimate yourself. You can be quite an asset to the crew, if not just for fighting and healing, for cooking. I understand many of the crew members are dissatisfied with the quality of food available to them. This could help."

She looked over the kitchen. Nice. Efficient.
