Battle Trial: Our New powers, Activate

The sound of metal on metal was ringing throughout the Sensorium, as Kamen Rider Decade fought against seemingly endless waves of Dai-Shocker minions. Further back, though, stood a knight-inspired commander in red: Apollo Geist. The battle was not going well for Decade, though: he had ratcheted up the difficulty of the simulation for an increased challenge, but that and the numerical disadvantage were not adding up to victory for the Kamen Rider.

Suddenly three minions jumped up, as rockets in their feet started burning. They flew right into Decade, causing an explosion that threw him into the corridor outside. As the recreations of Apollo Geist and the Dai-Shocker minions gathered around the entrance, Decade muttered, "This is not the kind of training I was seeking," glaring at the open doorway.

"Hey you okay?" said Rein as she had seen Decade fly through the open door. She looked at the minions and made a face at them.

"That looked like it hit pretty hard."

"Well, being tossed into a wall by big explosions will do that to a person." Decade replied, shaking his head in attempt to clear it.

He took a second to look a Reinforce, and who she was started to snap into his memory.

"You're Reinforce, right?" He asked, snapping his fingers as the name came out of the recesses of his mind.

"Mm," nodded Rein as she floated to hover around Tsukasa's shoulder. "Yes, I'm Rein. You can call me Rein-chan if you want. There's two of us on the ship."

She looked at the minions crowding the doorway but never quite breaching the boundary. "Training or something else?"

"Let's go with the training." Decade replied, before drawing in a breath. "I was trying to improve my combat abilities against an army, but the process is slow." He took a second to stretch his arms before drawing out his RideBooker and cocking the bottom of it fully back, making a handle out of it. A second later, a blade sprung out, making the book into a sword.

"If you'll excuse me, little Rein." Decade said, charging back into the Sensorium, swinging his RideBooker in Sword Mode left and right, taking out mooks in an attempt to get to Apollo Geist.

Rein watched him plow into the enemies and nodded. To her, there was a strong energy radiating from his body when he put effort into fighting, magic really and it was coming from a spot on his waist. Hmm a linker core? But for it to be down there... well that was odd in itself. But that was clearly the source of the magic.

Hanging back so she wouldn't get mobbed by the holographic opponents, she started to chant an analysis spell.

Decade had finally arrived to face Apollo Geist. However, this was at the expense of taking out more of the mooks; there were still quite far too many around them. Decade wasn't concerned with them presently; he focused solely on the red-armored "knight."

The sound of sword and lance clashing against each other rang out, as they dueled. Decade was good, no doubt; but he was tired and hurt from the long battle, whereas Apollo Geist was programmed to be fresh. Decade jumped up in an attempt to slash vertically across him, but Apollo Geist threw his shield at him. Sparks flew across Decade's chest as the shield rammed into him, and he was tossed backward.

When he stopped, though...he was right beside Reinforce. "Little Rein? Come to watch the show?" He asked, ducking a sword slash as a few mooks closed in, attempting to finish what Apollo Geist started.

"Was checking something out," said Rein as she threw out her hand and several froze on the spot. "Hope you don't mind me butting in, but there's something that I could try and give you a little more power."

"It's called a Unison, and it's a combination of device and mage. I was surprised that you have a powerful core at your disposal. Would you like me to try?"

"Core? You must mean the power supply for the belt." Decade replied, looking down at the DecaDriver for a second.

"While I don't need the help, it's an interesting prospect. Let's give it a try, little Rein." Decade said, moving in front of Reinforce.

"Alright, starting up unison! Standby ready!" Rein spread her arms and floated in front of Decade, merging with his body by sinking into his form. "Unison in!"

In a flash of light, she was standing in a magenta colored void with energy spiraling everywhere and the outline of a starry void stood around her. Her book appeared and she opened her eyes. "Unison complete!"

Decade's armor changed colors into a dark blue and a silver-ish white as the Unison engaged. Well, this isn't so... "NAUGH!" Decade yelled out. Four flaming wings appeared behind him; as they did, lightning arced across the suit. The pain was incredible, and Decade couldn't keep his footing as he fell to one knee.

Then, the wings started closing in, and his RideBooker opened up. Magenta and gray cards poured out and started circling Decade. As they moved up his body, sounds came out from his belt:

When the light faded away, the armor of Decade had changed; nine cards were splayed across his chest, and there was a tenth in the crown of his helmet. The belt was altered: There was a touch-device in the belt, and his normal buckle had been shifted to the right. Even the colors had changed; where there was once magenta, black, white, and green, there was only black, silver, and magenta. Decade had entered his Complete Form. My power...feels Complete. Decade thought, looking down at his armor.

"Huh, that's interesting," said Rein as her book flipped as she had a display of all ten cards in front of her. "This is a higher form of yours apparently, accessible by something else usually. I'm taking the place of the item used for it."

"Looks like you can summon Riders! Give it a shot before we're torn apart!"

Decade chuckled as he heard Reinforce's voice in his head. "I don't think we have to worry that much now, little Rein. But if you insist..." he tapped a circle with a diagonal slash through it on the touch device, and then a "F" button.

Rang out, and the cards on Decade's chest spun. A second later, they stopped, revealing the face image of Kamen Rider Faiz's Blaster (http://image.absoluteastronomy.com/images/encyclopediaimages/f/fa/faiz_blaster_mode.jpg) form materialized beside Decade Complete.

Hmm? Little Rein was inside my head a second ago...but I'm mentally alone now. Decade thought, looking around for her.

There was a most peculiar sensation as Rein was shunted from Tsukasa's body to the armor that was summoned and she blinked. "Well this is new," she said, her voice reverberating from the armor.

"Tsukasa-san I'm over here," she said, turning the head to look at him. "You take the lead, okay?"

Decade sighed. Great...someone else knows who I am.

He reached down into his RideBooker, pulling out a golden card with the same symbol he tapped a second ago. He flipped the card, then slotted it into the DecaDriver buckle on his right side. rang out, and Faiz Blaster's...Blaster materialized in Faiz's hands.

Decade raised up his RideBooker in sword more; as he did so, Faiz Blaster copied the actions. Energy began collecting around the tip of Faiz's gun and around Decade's sword. A moment later, they fired; twin beams of energy firing out and clearing out many of the Dai-Shocker minions.

Faiz Blaster disappeared a second later, and the Unisoned Decade moved in to take care of some more mooks.

Signum had stopped by the sensoriums to do some training herself, but she had sensed Rein nearby. Much to her surprise when she went to see what the little Unison Device was up to, she saw that she was apparently inside some sort of strange suit of armor. Or rather, was unisoned with someone wearing said strange suit of armor.

She watches quietly from the entrance to the sensorium, interested in how they do.

"This is so totally cool," gushed Rein as she moved in time with Decade's motions. "Sorry for finding out but we connect mind and body. I hope you don't mind that."

"On your left!" chimed Rein, sensing the presence of Signum to the side.

Decade Complete glanced to the side, seeing Signum. An audience, huh? Might as well give her a good show, then.

He sidestepped a mook, and pressed a button made of three circle-like items on the right side of the touch-device. Rang out from it, and the cards on Decade Complete shifted into having a picture of Hibiki's Armed form. (http://www.microforever.com/Rider/Riderimage/hibikiarmed-1.jpg) In addition, a copy of the Rider's form materialized beside him, sword in hand and Reinforce inside.

Pulling out a golden card with the matching symbol to the one he tapped, he flipped it around and placed it into the buckle on his right. sounded out, and fire began traveling up the two blades, extending their size a couple of meters. As Decade Complete swung, Armed Hibiki copied his actions. More mooks fell, explosions ensuing along the arc of the swing.

This...is more tiring than it looks, partner. Decade mentally addressed Reinforce, before charging in to meet Apollo Geist in single combat.

Hm. Things were getting interesting.

She watched as Rein and the other charged towards what appeared to be the enemy leader. His style of attack was certainly...interesting. But it did share some similarities to her own: focusing on close range combat, utilizing short but devastatingly powerful boosts to her abilities. Though on the surface the two's styles seemed different, there were enough similarities that she could appreciate it for what it was.

Patiently, she continued to watch and see how things went.

"Don't worry," said Rein as she boosted his magical output with her own power. "I'm here. I won't let you fall until you're done. Besides, Signum would give me a talking to if I did." The last was said with a nervous giggle.

"This guy is tough," said Rein when they engaged Apollo Geist. "Any more ideas with him? Another Rider form?"

The surge of power helped. Decade Complete took a deep breath, and dodged a swing of Apollo Geist's lance. He rolled under a punch, and after taking some distance, he looked up to see Apollo Geist's rifle pointed in his direction.

Decade Complete was quicker, though; cocking the handle down a little, the blade retracted, forming it into a gun. He fired three shots, and the rifle flew out of Geist's hand.

As Apollo Geist held his hand and glared, Decade stood up and said to Reinforce, "I think we may have one more Rider to borrow..." and, after placing his RideBooker on the left side of his belt, tapped the upper-left button on the touch device.

rang out, and the cards on Decade Complete's chest spun again. A second later, they stopped, and Kamen Rider Kuuga's Ultimate Form (http://www.microforever.com/Rider/Riderimage/kuugarultimate-4.jpg) materialized beside Decade, cards on the chest matching the helmet. He opened up the RideBooker, and pulled out a golden card; the symbol matched the button he pressed earlier.

Rang out after Decade placed the card into the buckle on the right of he belt and tapping it. Matching energy began gathering at the right foot of both Ultimate Kuuga and Decade Complete. They jumped together, delivering side kicks to Apollo Geist at the same time.

Apollo Geist went flying, slamming into a wall...and exploding. A second later, the copy of Kamen Rider Kuuga's most powerful form disappeared, leaving the Unisoned Decade Complete as the victor. The remaining mooks vanished almost right after Apollo Geist's destruction.

Signum clapped slowly when the fight was over.

"Impressive," she says. "Interesting technique you use, too."

"Signum hi," chirped Rein as the old knight stepped up to them. "He's really good at this, ne Decade-kun?"

She figured he was getting tired from doing this and she added, "Want me to drop the unison?"

Decade mentally shot Reinforce a look. What he said was, "I'm not getting that tired, but it might be better off for everyone if we talked separately, little Rein."

"Now, is there anything I should do to deactivate this?"

"Ah, just say Unison Out. Unison In is usually the trigger to merge, and Unison Out, well, yeah." said Rein.

Ah he was touchy, just a little. No worries about that then. She'll apologize later.

"Unison Out." Decade said, and as the power completely left the suit, it lost all color. A second afterward, it fell away, leaving just the photographer/passing through Kamen Rider named Tsukasa Kadoya.

"Well, this would be just my luck, wouldn't it?" He said, as he magicked a chair to sit down in.

"I wasn't aware you could perform Unison with people whose powers are different from our own, Rein," Signum says curiously.

It certainly increased Rein's already considerable array of abilities.

"It takes some doing," admitted Rein. "While it's not perfect, if they have enough magical power coming from somewhere, I can adjust the formulas in order to perform unison after taking stock of how much power he or she has. Already I managed with a miss Will Vandom and she hosts considerable magical power too."

"I had to adjust on the fly for Nanoha-san, Vivio-chan and Fate-san too," added Rein, floating there and feeling a little tired from supporting all the magic she had with the constant shifts. "Had to make a few more calculations but it worked out in the end."

Tsukasa took in what everyone said, while he rested up.

"It was an interesting experiment, Miss." He said to Signum, crossing one leg over the other. It seemed to me like she was interfacing with the suit as much as me, though. He reached down and removed the buckle, the rest of the belt disappearing.

Taking stock of it, he looked at the six small stones on the side of it: The power source for the DecaDriver. Looking up at the two of them, he asked, "Tell me something: do either of you feel anything special from me right now? Anything at all?"

Signum gave him a slightly odd look before turning to Rein, then back again.

"Not particularly, no."

"The suit was tied into his spirit which is really REALLY strong," said Rein, rubbing her chin thoughtfully. "But the power source is magical in nature, enough that I was able to interface with his power than anything else. It was a true unison, but it was draining energy faster than it should be."

"If anything, it's like feeding a lot of AC into a outlet or device made for DC charge or conversely in game terms, burning more MP at double the consumption, and the calculations took constant recalculating. But it was easy for me. I wouldn't let, say, Agito do it because it requires interaction on a more precise level. It's like hitting a nail with a jackhammer when she was involved while I make the Mr. Miyagi Nail Pound." At this, Rein seemed smug, both with her genre savvyness and the chance to use the silly.

Tsukasa blinked. Most of the gaming terms went right over his head, but he understood enough.

"I kinda-sorta get it; what you're saying, little Rein, is that when we combined, it drained my energy much more quickly than when I was fighting alone."

Tsukasa looked at his buckle again. If I am ever required to do that again...the fight would have to be ended quickly. I don't know if I could handle a drawn-out fight combined with Reinforce.
