The Policeman's Walk [Open!]
Javert, after casting his votes, had decided not to remain with the others who were milling about. He had instead headed for the City, intent on familiarizing himself even further with its twists and turns. What use was a policeman who didn't know his beat? None at all. Therefore, Javert took it upon himself to learn.
He walked with an even, measured step; Long strides for his long legs, but not exceptionally fast or directed. He looked, for Javert, to be in a jovial mood. Of course, such moods meant he was even more tended to snap and mock, but it would be with almost a sense of humor about it, and less of his usual bitterness.
He took a pinch of snuff as he carried on his way, hands deep in his pockets and eyes on everything around him.

Someone had been cooking.
Aeneas made a point of voting and getting out of the polls as soon as possible; now that he had a business of sorts, a garden to tend to and a building to clean, he found that he was always busy. Oddly this made him energetic rather than dour and pensive, as he had been before the idea came to convert this hovel into something other than storage. Working gave the alien a new sense of purpose it seemed.
And he was enjoying it.
The long, blue-striped creature was outside currently, planting what was left of his shore leave crop in the front of the building. Empty bags of nutrient-rich soil lay around Aeneas as he measured the distance between seeds, taking mental note of their position, their type and condition. Faintly he noticed an arrival—a potential customer—and the alien craned his neck to hail him with a friendly, silent wave.

He certainly didn't expect to see Aeneas, which gave him slight pause, as did the garden and surrounding area.
He nodded when Aeneas waved, examining what he was going from a few feet away.
"I would not expect things to grow here."

“Neither did I, but with the river and a few bags of soil, it appears that Stacy radiates enough energy to support plant growth and photosynthesis,” the creature trilled intelligently, tracing back his lessons with Drake on agriculture, “…Quite a lot, actually.”

"You have done well with it." He observes.

Bella falls into step with Javert as he passes by. She likes to prowl the city, even after being aboard the ship so long and having time to adjust she still prefers the (relatively more) open air down here, and the feeling of (something that pretended to be) the sky overhead. It was a little less unnatural for the wolf.

"Madame. I trust you are well?" He inquires, politely.

Unfortunately, social skills are not Javert's strong point, but at least he seems not to be bothered by Bella practicing her conversational skills on him. "I fear I have missed much in the goings-on of the ship."

"I do not like her. She asks me to carry a gun. Guns are for cowards."
Not that the portal device is a gun in the traditional sense. Bella's just stubborn that way.

"I find them useful on rare occasion." Largely as signals -- Javert preferred his baton when it came to actually subduing criminals.

She knows well the frustration of being spirited away by GLaDOS and returning to find things weren't as you left them.

She flattens her ears, apparently this bothers her. "We got enough time for the people on the world to get away, though."
no subject
"That is unfortunate. I regret I was not there."

"I am unsure as to the nature of GLaDOS' existence, however."

Absolutely impeccable display of logic, Bella.

"I assume she is another parasitic piece of the ship."
