Bad Habits

Flitting around to another soundtrack that she had managed to find for her music player, Rein was setting down tea and cookies in her shop and waiting for her big sister to arrive. Her bigger sister in more ways than one, which made Rein a little envious for her sweater puppies.

But no matter. Today, Rein was going to have fun and the tiny little woman flitted from side to side, tapping her fingers in a most sinister way which would have matched Hayate on a good day.

"Fufufufufufufufu desu-ka ne," giggled Rein diabolically.

The older Reinforce, who had considerably less to do on the average day than she really ought to have, had headed for the clothiers as soon as she'd been invited. Along the way she had developed a strange nagging feeling, some distant, disused instinct warning her of danger, but she chalked it up to some overactive legacy function of the defense program and pushed into the shop.

After all, it was an invitation by her sister and the shop smelled of delicious baking. What harm could there possibly be?

Rein smiled as the smaller-her ran over and hugged her, though she was becoming increasingly aware of the almost magnetic attraction between her sister's face and her chest. Little wonder where that came from...

"No," Rein admitted. "I haven't had much to do lately." Or at all. The magic department was well-staffed with a great many talented mages, proportionally, and there was little need for her talents in the day-to-day running of the ship. She really ought to consider moving to engineering or some other busier department; Nanoha could always recall her if she was needed.

"Real food? From Zokez?" Rein asked. She'd known many of the crew had gone shopping during leave, but she'd assumed such supplies would be limited in the extreme after the disruption of the attack. "I'm honored."

It was quite the luxury, especially to bestow on a device. Though the other Rein almost certainly wouldn't think that way, would she? Her sister had grown up in Hayate's care, after all, worlds away from war-torn Belka. Sometimes it made her a bit mysterious to the elder Rein... especially when she went into these fits of giggling.

If there was a single word that summed up Rein it was probably 'reserved' but presented with her first bite of honest-to-the-Saint food since she'd awoken on the ship she started in without hesitation.

"How is the clothiers running? Are you cooperating with that other woman?"

Zwei might be the comms officer, but Eins kept a close eye on the public messages, too, if only out of curiosity.

Rein watched, somewhat amused, as her sister faded off into fantasy-land. She was as flighty in mind as in body... but it was certain that she loved her trade here, and Eins did not see why she couldn't give her more time for it.

"What if I were to take on some of your official duties?" She asked. "You could be here more often, and I would be put to better use."

"I would need to be briefed on your protocols as well, and... eh?" Rein paused as her sister slipped in a certain other, unrelated request. "A model? I'm sure if you asked on the comms you would find volunteers."

Eins did not think of herself as modeling material. She was quite happy to wear the plantsuit, now fused with her own armor. She had always worn her plain self-generated clothing, after all.

"Me?" Rein was dubious, but she already felt guilty about the amount of free time she had, so it was an effective line of attack persuasion. "I'm not used to wearing many different types of the clothes, though..."

Resistance was already weakening.

"Ah..." Rein wavered. "If you think I'd be a good fit I suppose... it'd be easier than trying to find someone else..."

Quickly proceding to total collapse. Feeling somehow slightly dirtied, Rein sighed and took another cookie.

Rein smiled briefly, from about the time Rein spun around to when she pulled the dress out. It did indeed match her eyes, but...

"...shouldn't there be more of it?" Rein asked. Lengthwise it looked like a better fit for her sister than for her...

"...a bit?" It looked like it had been cut for, well, Eins. By someone who liked her legs.

"How long have you wanted me to model for the shop, exactly?"

The admission did not make Rein any better at saying no to her sister... if anything, coming clean earnestly like this made it harder. Zwei was like Hayate's child, in a way; with Hayate absent who could realize her aspirations but Eins?

"It isn't too much," Rein conceded. Too little, maybe, but it wasn't as though it would do any harm. Probably.
