Basic Training Week 2 [Closed to Rogue Squadron]

Instead of the usual parade grounds today the sensoriums was set to a forest that would be considered quite lovely if it didn't have a very intimidating looking obstacle course dropped in to the middle of it. Once again Kyle set himself at the head of the formation, and paced as he spoke. "Alright recruits today we have one of my favorite activities. An obstacle course. Time for you to show us that all that PT we've been doing hasn't gone to waste. Now I know some of you are thinking this won't be much of a challenge for you, and you would be correct. That is why we will be assigning you a partner for this excercise. Do not leave your partner behind under any circumstances. If you do you will both be running this course again. You will not cross that finish line alone. The teams will be as follows."

"Aznable you're with Soryu. Barnam you'll be paired with Jule. Asuka team up with Axl. Finally Yamato, and Lash. Everyone got that? Good fall out, and get on the starting line."

[OOC: Once the sub threads are up feel free to start tagging with your team mate through them. Kyle, and Trudy might pop in on a thread to comment, motivate, or yell at your pups. In general though this is a chance for the recruits to start building some teamwork. If there is a problem with the assigned partners let me know. I tried to have them be as cross canon as I could. This didn't look too difficult to get through. The only actual problem was the length of the monkey bars in terms of how fast he could move across them without his arms straining. But despite that, he still had a workaround back-up plan.

"Don't forget you can use your legs, too, if you need to give your arms a rest. Better a short break than having to restart from the beginning." With the piece of advice, Yzak took the initiative to jump up and grab hold of them first.

"Huh, good point." Tay is down with hanging from her knees for a moment if she needs to. She jumps up just after him, taking the first couple bars a bit cautiously as she gauges how to do this. Not too hard.

"Right. No prob."

She feels like a monkey. It's kind of annoying.

"And don't wait until you get too tired to try and pull your legs up! You won't have enough energy in that case."

Yzak wasn't very used to this particular obstacle, either. Sure, he had the strength to hold out for a while, but hanging off of things wasn't common in the ZAFT military. Thankfully.

"I won't if you won't," Tay replies. Then, just in case, she adds, "Don't forget we have to stick together, so... lemme know if we're gonna need to break."

He simply nodded in response, focusing on continuing on and assuming she'd keep her own advice in mind.

Eventually, however, he would need a break before finishing. "Wait. Ehhh, shit!" He cursed, really not being the type who would want to have to pause. Sure, it just delayed getting to the end by a few moments, but he wasn't competitive for nothing, always pushing himself in the academy to come out on top.

Cue one very loud, very threatening Drill Instructor stalking up and down the sidelines. Sure, she and Jule might have flown together - and she did like the kid - but that didn't mean she was going to go easy on him.

"Recruit Jule, what the hell do you think this is, social time? You think the space bugs will give you time to catch your breath? Get your ass and its delicate goddamn sensibilities in motion, or you'll be standing fire watch tonight!"

"I know this isn't 'social time'!" Tch. Yzak could have added more to that statement - one thing he didn't like was the idea of her attaining the authority to speak just because she had been awake for longer than he had. Not to mention the cursing - Yzak was hard on his own squadron when he needed to be, and he was certainly one to shoot his mouth off when he was angry, but he held his tongue when he had to. He scowled.

He swung back and continued out, hardly more than a second or two later. I'd like to see her go through this without breaking a sweat.

If he thought that was why she was running this show, he had a few other thinks coming. "The only appropriate response is 'Yes, Drill Instructor!' You just bought yourself fire watch, recruit!"

This was something else entirely compared to the training he was used to in his world. Not a particularly bad kind of different. Whatever, it's not like this is even very difficult. Making sure that Tay following close suit stayed as such, the arguably most difficult part of the course would be finished quickly.
