Negi peeled the last of his bandages away as he stood in the park area surrounding the city center. "Looks like I'm all healed up Chamo-kun," said Negi as he started to stretch.

"Yeah, you really took it to yourself this time aniki," said Chamo as he finished marking out a circle on the ground, one that had Negi blinking.

"What's that for?" inquired Negi. "I'm not kissing anyone today."

"Insurance aniki! What if a beautiful girl comes along and you just have to kiss her?" Chamo grinned lecherously as Negi facepalmed. "Besides, every time you step out of that bus, you have a good chance of making an artifact."

"I know I know." said Negi as he pulled out his own card. "Adeat!"

In a flash of light, his card case appeared as he pulled out the roster of cards and flipped through them. "I'm going to familiarize myself with these things," said Negi. "Last time I didn't rely on them as much. This time I want to be ready."

Spinning a card around, he slotted it into the top and proclaimed, "Ruyi Jingu Bang!" Spinning the case around it lengthened into a wooden bow with two metal caps on either end. Testing the weight, he began to start a slow kung fu kata, incorporating spear fighting into the motions. So caught up in his workout, he wouldn't notice anyone else coming in to see him.

"EXTEND!" And the pole extended out, striking a tree. "Now grow!" And said tree got smushed. "Whoops."

At that point, Vivio had been busy wandering around, starting to feel a bit better from her injuries. Curiosity had hit her and she was wanting to see what was around. Making her way to the park, she noticed Negi practicing with a staff of some sort... and crush a tree.

She winced as she watched the tree get smushed in the process. "Negi, you need to watch out...!" she called out.

"Return," commanded Negi as the staff collapsed back into the smaller mode. "Ah, yeah. I didn't expect it to get so big..."

He smiled at Vivio as he leaned on the staff. "You look better though! Feeling better I hope?"

Vivio giggled a bit as Negi admitted that bit about the staff. "It's alright, though you should know what you have a bit more..."

She moved her arm slightly, a wince visible on her face. "A little. My arm and side still hurt, but not as bad as before. You look a whole lot better, though, yourself!"

"I still ache like the dickens," said Negi. "But a little workout will loosen the muscles. I went through a ritual to get the corruption drained out of me and I feel great. If store."

He dismissed the weapon, pulling the card out of the top of the billfold.

"That's good, at least. I think once everything heals, I should retrain a bit to get me back into the swing of things. Don't want to get lazy because I got hurt!" Vivio said, chuckling.

"...though you sure you're okay? If you're still sore, you should have rested a bit more."

"Any more time spent in bed and I would have gone stir crazy," admitted Negi.

"Aniki's a lousy patient," added Chamo as he tapped out his cigarette. Damn he was already running low in this pack?

"Chamo-kun seriously," sighed Negi. "But yeah, I'm fine just sore. I wanted to test out some of my artifacts."

Spinning a card into it, he summoned Asuna's sword and lifted it, testing the heft. It was a little different when he used it as an adult that was for sure.

Vivio blinked as she watched the sword appear out of nowhere. That was certainly new.

"Wow... I didn't know you could do that, Negi!" Vivio said.

"Hmm? Oh yeah I can," said Negi with a blush. "My artifact allows me to use the artifacts of the other people that I've made a pact with. This is the very first one, Asuna-san's sword. It's an anti-magic weapon that can negate magic items, weapons and attacks, cutting through them like butter and stopping big attack spells altogether. Asuna-san once used it to defend against an anti-army attack spell, Thousand Bolts."

Hikari giggled, Nyaromon held in her hands as she watched Negi train. "Overexcited much?" Nyaromon asked from her place in Hikari's arms.

"Nyaromon... be nice," Hikari said, looking up at Negi again. "Sorry about her, i think she's a little bit cranky that I picked her up to come out here."

"I would be too, if i was reduced to a talking head," said Chamo smartly.

Negi bonked him on the head with the staff. "Be nice," he warned. Then, turning to Hikari he grinned widely. "It's fine, we're trying to stretch out some of the kinks too. Have you figured out what your artifact does by the way?"

Hikari shook her head and smiled. "No, I didn't. I wanted to try it out with you nearby, just in case anything went wrong. Also, wanted to have both arms first..."

"Ah good plan. In case it turns out to be a giant sword or something," said Negi, leaning on the staff. "When you're ready, say Adeat to summon the artifact in."

Hikari smiled, before placing Nyaromon down on the ground so she could focus. "Alright, I'm ready," she said, taking a deep breath.

Nyaromon took that moment to bounce a bit away from Hikari, turning to look over at her partner.

Hikari smiled. "Adeat!" she shouted, and then there was a giant burst of light from within her along with a gust of wind, and when it cleared Hikari was standing where she was. The young girl was dressed in a sleeveless purple shirt and purple shorts, along with two long detached sleeves on her arms that went up to her shoulders. To finish her new found magical outfit, where a pair of white, shining boots, and two small angel wings coming out of her back.

She grinned. "How do I look?" she asked, looking down at herself in awe.

"Great!" Nyaromon said. "It's almost like you evolved."

Hikari blinked. "I don't think it's that different..."

Negi had to admit, that was one of the nicest outfits that he had ever seen and he flashed a thumbs up. "That was great Hikari-chan! I like it a lot!"

"Two thumbs up on the wings girl," added Chamo. "How do you feel? Anything coming to you?"

"Oh right. One sec." Flipping his artifact around he returned it to the billfold, he slid another card in. "Compendium!"

In a flash of light, Yue's book appeared as he accessed the remains of Mahou.net. "Alright, here we go." And the book spat out a small sheath of papers. "This is your instruction manual."

Hikari blinked, moving over to Negi as she smiled.

And then found herself hovering over to him without thinking about it, her feet hovering a few inches over the ground. "Oh wow, I guess there's that," she said, taking the papers from Negi.

"The wings definitely look a part of it," said Chamo as he glanced the girl over, checking her over with an appraising eye. "Looks like it's tied into the magic flowing around your body, from the wings to two spots on your wrists."

"That accurate?" inquired Negi as he read over the instruction manual. It was nice to see that there was an actual instruction manual for some of those items.

"Wow... so, there's actually weapons that can negate magic by itself?" Vivio said. "Where I'm from, that sort of thing that's done through technology, not magic itself."

"Asuna-san's special," said Negi, thinking of her fondly. "She was born with the ability to completely nullify magic. I have a hard time trying to fight her because she's so powerful."

A little too powerful as Negi realized. She was the Imperial Twilight Princess, the girl who had the power to create entire worlds and bring them to ruin. "I do miss her. And everyone else too."

He hefted the sword, looking at it. "It's a strong weapon though, not just against magic. Wanna hold it?"

Hikari blinked, looking down at her wrists... and seeing the sleeve move up a bit, revealing two jeweled bracelets on her wrists. "Oh, here they are. So far it looks like it..."

"Ah... sure!" Vivio said, extending her hands out to take hold of it. As she did, Sacred Heart looked on, a bit worried.

"It's interesting though how a lot of artifacts lately are magic based," mused Chamo as Negi flipped through the rather extensive notes on her artifact. "Sasami got a magical attacker artifact, Katara-anesan got a healing cup. And now you've got those bracelets."

"One is for attack, one is for defense. And seems like the wings give a buff," read off Negi of the notes. "It's definitely not as complex as some of my own artifacts, but it makes up for drawing and amplifying your own powers."

The sword looked alright in Vivio's hands, and it didn't react badly to her which was a plus. "It's a little big isn't it?" said Negi. "I don't know how Asuna-san wields it; she's shorter than I am when I'm in adult form."

"It's about as tall as anesan is," said Chamo, nodding. He too had been worried the sword wouldn't like Vivio, but it seemed that it wasn't complaining about trading hands. "Too heavy or alright?"

Hikari nodded, looking at the bracelets again. "One for attack, another for defense... and the wings for buffing? That's like, giving some energy to make someone else stronger, right?"

Vivio nodded as she held on to the sword. Despite her injuries and the size of the sword, it was holding pretty well in her hands.

"It's big... though, I'm surprised she could wield it myself. It's a bit... cumbersome." Vivio said, examining the blade. "You wouldn't think something like this would be used for fighting..."

"And yet anesan swings it around like it's a baton," said Chamo. "I saw her spin it one-handed, and I mean FAST. She just spun it like a, well, a baton."

"Asuna-san is one scary girl when she wants to be," admitted Negi with a chuckle. "Makes me wonder how I chose her as my first partner."
