PUPPIES! ALIEN PUPPIES!

The battle with the Ohm was over but for anyone in hydroponics, there was no peace and quiet. The caretakers of an animal rescue had forgotten a number of puppies when they left. Daimon and Billy had no choice but to bring them aboard. And so almost a dozen young, alien puppies of different breeds and possibly species, were rough housing each other in as noisy a manner as possible. One of the puppies in particular had taken a liking to the Son of Satan and was licking the only exposed part of his skin in its reach, his ankle. Daimon stared down at it, frowning.

"Shoo. Go play." He shook his foot. The dog made an odd squeaking sound, and paused to stare at him before going back to licking.

[[OOC: See post. Onlookers not interested in adoption are welcome.]]

Laurie enters hydroponics with a hesitant manner, mostly because she'd first heard quite a bit of noise and growling. But then she sees the puppies and stares. For about a collective sum of twenty-one seconds...and then lets out a shriek of glee.

"Oh, they're so cute!"

[identity profile] terribly2shy.livejournal.com 2010-07-07 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Can I? I mean..." Laurie looks at the puppies at the man's feet. They seem to not mind that the man seems to be the kind of person who is generally not happy with many things. There is one particular puppy that has caught Laurie's eye. It is frolicking and nipping and roughhousing with the other puppies.

It is sort of every young girl's wish to get a puppy at some point in their life (or a pony, whichever came first).

"Yes. I'd love to."

This was Euphemia's first time visiting the Hydroponics area, and she was pleasantly surprised at how pretty and tranquil it seemed. She hadn't been expecting to find a place like this on the ship -- not outside of the Sensoriums, anyway.

Well, it was mostly tranquil. From not too far away, she could hear a strange squeaking sound, and a man talking. She moved in that direction and gasped when she saw them -- several small, adorable animals, and a man standing near them. "Well, this is a surprise."

[identity profile] genociding.livejournal.com 2010-07-07 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Euphie giggled a little. "Of course it's not unpleasant. They're all so adorable, after all."

She moved closer and crouched down, hand outstretched toward the one that was licking at the man's ankle. "Are they from the world we visited on shore leave?"

Sarah had been walking. Just walking. The hydroponics was a favorite haunt mostly because it was full of all sorts of things--plants, trees, sometimes even animals. She meandered through a section of trees, following the sounds, and eventually cleared them before she came upon the pack.

Puppies. Lots of them.

Sarah stared down at them for a long while until a puppy launched itself at her legs hard enough that she wound up on her rear. She blinked in surprise.

"That was Puppy for hello," Sarah said dryly, peering at the man as the puppy attempted to burrow itself against her middle. "I think you need a crash course in how to make them mind. Here's a hint--yelling never works. It just makes them pee all over you."

"Puppies!"

Ahem, no one heard that, right? Right.

"Whosagoodlil'aliendoggie, yesyouare, yesyouare."

Kon had approached one of the more...catankerous and vicious-looking of the bunch, and it growled at him and immediately clamped its jaws around his wrist, trying to bite him. Hard.

"Haha, you're bitey, aren't you. Bitey bitey bitey. Almost tickles."

The dog, very confused, gnawed a few times on Kon's arm, whined, and let go. Then Kon held out his hand for it to sniff and slowly went to scratch its head.

Before long, the dog had gone from growling and aggressive to a puddle of happy puppy, leg twitching away as Kon scritched doggy belly.

"Fffft, Krypto's gonna be jealous." A pause. "Then again, Krypto could use a friend. Streaky annoys the hell out of him."

Kon heard both. Super-hearing, haw.

"Back home, I have a dog, but he may as well be a whole kennel since he's just about as much of a handful as a dog can be. His name's Krypto. Most people think taking care of a normal dog is hard--they haven't had to handle an alien one that take out squirrels with heatvision."

The dog was licking his face enthusiastically.

"These guys need owners, don't they."

After hearing the message about the alien puppies on the Omnicon, Katara had raced over to the hydroponics bay to take a look. The first thing that hit her was the increase in volume, the second thing was the smell. But despite those things, she still wanted a puppy of her own: she'd missed Momo and Appa more than she thought, and wouldn't have minded having a pet with her at night.

When she arrived, she looked over the pets. There were several cute looking ones, odd looking ones, all varying in shapes and sizes. She looked around by herself a few minutes, then walked over to the alien pet that seemed different from the others to her. It glanced over everything with a sort of dignity, like it was slowly assessing its environment. It was on the big side, about a little less than half Katara's size, and she stared at the dog, and it stared back. Slowly, she grinned, and the dog responded by a uttering a quiet, "Yargz."

"I like this one (http://media.photobucket.com/image/alien%20dogs/Rogue-Gladiator/Submissions/alien-dog-1.gif)."

Billy watched over the fates of 'his' puppies quietly for most of the adoption day. Daimon handled everything well on his own, and there really wasn't need for Billy to speak up. He definitely wasn't an expert on dogs, just someone who wanted to be sure that the animals he saved would remain safe.

There was one being claimed by a friend of his, though, so he had to smile. "I think it likes you too."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Katara was more than pleased. Knowing that the animals would be cared for now that they were safe from the Ohm attack eased her greatly. As far as this animal dog was concerned, she would make sure to treat it exactly the way she treated Momo and Appa: they had been just as much a part of the GAang as she and Aang and the others were. With this new edition, she planned to treat him no differently.

"I have a feeling its going to get fairly big," she commented. "It's only a puppy and its already half my size! I wonder if it'll let me ride it?"

And now for a name.

"I'm going to call you Zhin!"

Satori had proceeded directly to hydroponics the moment she caught word of puppies. She was well on the way to going into Pet Withdrawal.

Her face lit up as she drifted towards the cluster of strange animals. She barely acknolwedged the humans present, immediately gravitating towards one of the puppies. She picked it up closing her eyes for a moment to listen to its heart.

Satori opened her eyes, smiling faintly at the animal. "You're not the only one here who's lost their home. It's all right to be afraid."

[identity profile] thirdeyesighted.livejournal.com 2010-07-09 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Most people don't have the ability or inclination to listen to them." Satori spoke without looking up - the creature was far more interesting than Daimon, as far as she was concerned.

Rei had never owned a pet, or been around any for a long stretch of time, but when he'd caught word of 'alien puppies', he'd beat feet down to hydroponics as fast as he could. He wasn't even sure he wanted one, he just had to see them. And the second he laid eyes on them, he let out an odd little squeal. It was one part giddiness over the outright cuteness of the little critters, one part nerdish glee, and straight up girly.

"Where... oh my goodness, they're so cute! Where did these little guys come from?"

[identity profile] watchwith3hands.livejournal.com 2010-07-09 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Aw, poor little guys," Rei cooed, crouching down to be closer to the dogs. He was a bit surprised that they weren't really reacting to his presence. Most dogs tended to get a little nervous around him - not full-blown Terminator-type freak out, but they usually seemed to be able to tell that he wasn't quite right.

One fluff ball of a puppy (http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/8/2009/06/340x_cj7.jpg) was racing around the others, hopping up and down and making a bark that sounded more like a chirp. Rei reached out to pet the little thing, which flopped over and let him pet it's belly. "So, what's going to happen to them now?" He asked.

No, no, no. She shouldn't be coming in here. It had bad idea written all over it. Animals were supposed to be used for experiments! Yet the call was too great and somehow Lash couldn't ignore it. After having animals croawl over her last time, the puppies seemed almost otherworldly yet...so cute.

She cooed, then covered her mouth. So much for the tough girl image, disappearing in smoke. Taking on a much more neutral face, she inched her way closer to them, before coughing.

"O-oh. Interesting Canis lupus specimens you've got there. I've never seen them so...colorful." Yeap, keep speaking like that, no one was going to notice the fact your eyes were as wide as dollar plates. Nope.

Dean didn't mind dogs. It was just usually staying in motel rooms and being transit while hunting wasn't really a life to keep pets. He remembered how Sam would go on and on as a kid about getting a puppy. And granted these were a bit weird, but kind of cute.

Not that he was going to say so. Loudly... much. He's tough really and not a sucker for puppy eyes.

Except his brother's... or Cas's.... or... uh ok, secret cream puff with a small smile for the dogs.
